It is very nostalgic, goes back to the 50s, 60s 70s, in the decor, with Coke in decor. The name comes from the Cunningham Drug Store, which had a large counter and stoles to sit on, they served sandwiches, chips, and a pickle, coffee, Coke, with the old flavors, like cherry etc.. But they were known for the most popular sundae in town, which the topping was their secret, no one could get it. Well, Roberta See bought this old gas station on the corner of Hwy 146 and 4th. Avenue, redesigned it, put in a small counter, which may be part of the Drug Store, the red leather covered stool seats. The counter is set up exactly as it was before, the pie case, which holds four pieces of fresh pie everyday, the menu holder and napkins. there are four booths also. Most of the food is home made, delicious, the food is prepared right behind the counter, sandwiches, chili, etc., flavors of ice cream, then that famous Candyland Sundae, with one, two or three dips, then that, "oh, so, delicious topping with peanuts on top!" Also, homemade, great cup cakes, made by her daughter Tammy Kriegel, they put on sign out front when they have them. Youve got to try it! For those of you that attended Grinnell High School, youll enjoy the old pictures, newspaper clippings, memorabilia all around the walls, shelves of this enticing cafe of yesterday years.

I generally prefer Dari Barn for the food, but Candyland Station is an amazing place to grab something and sit down with friends. Even better if youve got some time to just shoot the breeze and chat with the staff. Finding when its open though can sometimes be a chore.

Restaurant was fun and nostalgic. Food however was overpriced for what you get. Do not accept debit cards was also a bummer. I would only recommend if you are going just for a candyland!
