We usually stop at this Perkins on our way home from U of Iowa hospitals. Today my husband had a procedure he had to prepare for and hadnt ate in two days. Me, in a show of support, hadnt ate for one day. We had bad food and service about 2 months before but blew it off as a one time deal. Today the whole place was grimy and has gone downhill. We were sat by the entrance to the kitchen even though there were a lot of seats open elsewhere. The place at this point had about 5 tables of people. FYI Perkins These type of booths are typically for overcrowding, you give people the best view and experience you can. We were so out of the way, naturally we were forgotten about, literally 15 minutes later and considering walking out the waitress comes over. I ordered the hot turkey sandwich my husband gets a burger and fries. I couldnt believe what I was served, it was 4 pieces of burnt cheap white toast , no butter, turkey slices that covered a scant amount of potatoes and almost zero gravy I asked for more gravy, got a little dish of it not enough to make this a true open face hot turkey sandwich. Plus it was cold. I ate the thing because I was so stinking hungry and my husbands burger looked great but they gave him 11 french fries, not long big fries, little stumpy fries. It looked like someone had ate from the fries already and these were the leftovers. ( we counted and laughed at how ridiculous it was that anyone would send that out). He gave me some of his burger. Perkins you get 2 stars because the waitress though complaining about a bus load of people who arrived, was pleasant and we tipped our usual 20%. My husbands Burger was good. Shame on you on all other levels. I was going to say something but it is so obvious you dont care. My husband looked at me and said "Lets pay the Bill and never come back here" We wont be back. ever.

Its.... food? I dont know how better to describe it. I was here a month ago as we couldnt decide where to go and this was just here. The food is lovingly microwaved (I assume) and left on a warmer just for you! Yet its somehow better than Applebees. I had eggs benedict and much like the American Traitor, they did in fact betray me during my next visit to the bathroom. Im not sure if having it have any kind of flavor was extra so that could be my bad. It was just bland and mushy. The hollandaise had that Im from a can! taste. I think if youre drunk itd be perfect. My dining partners fared equally well in their food choices but we all agreed we knew what this was when we choose to dine here. I popped an extra star on there because our waitress was pretty nice and attentive (there was a convention in town so it was actually busy). She kept my drink full and did offer a free slice of pie when the table commented on the food. We werent rude mind you, nor demanding so that was nice of her. We did decline though out of fear that the pie might be on the same level as the dinners. Price wise, its really not a bargain anymore. At least when you pay $9 at McDonalds youre well aware youre shoveling hot garbage into your mouth. I guess I expect more from a sit down place. Do yourself a favor and pop around the corner to the River Landing, for $12 bucks you can actually enjoy your meal at 30hop (I cant attest to the other places down there).

Ive never eaten at this Perkins before, so when a buddy asked me to meet him for lunch I agreed. Was I in for a surprise! Right off the bat the parking lot had lots of rubble on it; old cups, cue tips, cigarette butts, old drinking cups empty pop bottles, etc. Walk to the door included walking through old cigarette butts all around the front door, even though there was big ash tray right near by. Got into the entrance and I was greeted by a half dozen dropped sugar envelopes, dirt, and a filthy carpet. Restroom no better; toilet paper all over the floor and the floor was all wet, yuck. Bought two red velvet treats for later, stale. On the "up" side; the food was at least average, brought in a timely manner, and the lady that served us was very nice. Fountain drink was 2.50 and I never got a refill, even though my glass was empty for half the meal. Total dinner bill was 30 bucks for the two of us (does not include the stale treats or tip, dinner only). I really didnt think it was worth that at all. I wont be going back ever. I wish I would have taken some photos to share. Too bad I wont be going back or I would.

10/9/2015 we came in for a birthday, around 1-2am, there was one waiter, and it took 20 minutes alone just to get drink orders for our table of 12. We tried to make it easier to organize for him by asking for all our water orders, but he just said he couldnt take it cause we were all taking at once.We waited another 15 for him to bring them out before we finally got up and walked out. He seemed uninterested to be there, and he made us feel like we were a burden to even walk into the restaurant. There were only a few tables there beside us, and they all looked just as disappointed in the service...we used to go there all the time, but now I dont think well be returning.

Stopped here last Thursday night at 10pm-1am as a rest stop after my long drive I had the bottomless coffee and a peanut butter cookie. While I was there a theft in this Perkins Restaurant off I-80. Last Thursday night, thieves stole my SD cards, Business documents with social security and EIN numbers, and electronic from my purse in the booth. The server saw it happened and did not say a word or call Police. This place should have cameras and security during late nights. I would not recommend as it was very low staffed and could present more security issues in the future.

We used to go here for breakfast on the weekends until we ran into 3 consecutive trips that had us waiting forever for someone to take our order, or to have our food brought to us. We are talking over 90 minutes. The last time, the waiter said he had to wait on the hash browns my wife ordered. you would expect them to be the warmest thing on the plate. Everything was ice cold.

We went to Perkins June 27,2014 after treatments at the university. It was absolutely the worst. The water tasted like it had soap in it and the food was horrible. We go to Perkins every time we go to Iowa city and it is usually fabulous dont know what happened this time with an experience like that it will be a while before we go again. This Perkins was great. I went at lunch time, and the service was still excellent. I did not want long for her to take my order, and the kitchen must run pretty smoothly, because the food came out in record time. Who can resist a place where you can have breakfast all day long! And dont get me started on the desserts!!!!! (Try the cinnamon roll...delicious!)
