We worked with the Waterfront Hy-Vee location in Iowa City for our wedding flowers. Leading up to the big day I was very excited about the flowers, as we felt we had a great meeting with Missy regarding our vision and what the plan for flowers and reception decor would be. We were able to stick pretty close to our budget as well. I didnt always get a response to my emails, or it was delayed which was frustrating. On the wedding day the flowers were delivered over an hour late with no explanation. We called three times that day over the course of the hour they were late and were continually told "they would be there soon". The store was approximately 10-15 min away from where our ceremony was held. We received the flowers less than 30 minutes before the ceremony was about to start and we had to rush to set them up in the church and pin them on the tuxedos - all while guests were waiting to be seated. Incredibly unprofessional and it was the only stressful part of our day! The flowers and arrangements themselves were beautiful, so it was a disappointment that the service ended up being sub-par the day of.

Hyvee Market Grille: We have tried multiple times to like this place and are 0/3. The hostess/woman answering the phone is extremely rude, both cutting you off when trying to speak and blaming their mistakes on the customer (you must have called the wrong location; no, here is the number I called, this is your stores number). Its not uncommon for them to lose your order and not tell you they havent started making it until youve been waiting long enough to ask about it (2/3 times weve been there, two different servers). Its also not uncommon for them to forget something in the order, and one of the times this happened we had ordered to go and didnt notice anything was missing until we were home. When we called back their response was "well I dont know what you want us to do about it, were done cooking that item for the day". They also didnt give us a customer copy of the receipt to take back later for a partial refund. We will NEVER be returning.

You know I come from a place where there exists healthy competition and great grocery stores in both regular and organic markets. Im convinced competition brings the best quality food and prices to the consumer and I cannot wait until that competition hits little Iowa City. You guys pay an outrageous amount for your fresh fruits, produce and meats and you are really getting substandard quality. I know alot will argue this but it is true! Wake up Iowa City! Bring in some competition and eat better for less. I have never heard of a store that does not offer a savings card. Im not talking about just gas but actual coupons that ring through when you put that little number in. I hear Hy-Vee offers good benefits to the employee but what about the consumer?! The tides need to turn here a bit so everyone can win. Say no to rotten berries, substandard quality, and high prices!

Always had a good experience in HyVee & heres why [with a little background] — My dad -OBSESSED- with the Waukee HyVee and literally spends about half his time hanging out there — I live in Iowa City for school and work — Met my boyfriend in London (from Ireland) & told him about this (the fact that my Dad loves it so much) and how my dad wants me to take him there — Picture this - We go to HyVee for dinner supplies and its here that we meet David - The CHEESE man. David proceeds to let my boyfriend and I try like 5 different aged-goudas after telling us about them, what we should pair them with (bread, crackers, beer and wine) then he makes the same cheese joke that my boyfriend made when we originally walked in! It was brie-lliant

Ive eaten the salad bar at the newer Market Cafe about a dozen times now. I like the food and the price. The wait staff is unnecessary. They are constantly checking up on you. Your drink is away being refilled more often than it is at your table. I havent found it to be that bad at other locations, but the waterfront store seems over staffed most of the time. Also I pick up a few groceries here once or twice a week. In the last few months I have noticed that no matter what time of day, no matter what cashier or line I check out in, either my line or another line has some issue that requires the assistance of a supervisor. Its become somewhat of a joke that I can never check out quickly.

The new store front is very nice. Ive always gotten friendly service at this location. They were especially patient during the remodel. Not a bad place to go for flowers if you cant find an open florist. Other than that, its a grocery store. They do a good job keeping the produce section looking nice. The lanes arent usually more than two customers deep & the place is open 24 hours. At this location the natural food section is very nice & I swear theres something new there every time I go. Well, maybe not every time, but I end up at the grocery store at least twice a week. This is my favorite area Hy-Vee (before & after the remodel).

This is by far my favorite HyVee. The produce is fresh and they always do a good job of featuring local produce when available. They have a wonderful health food market. The employees are always helpful and they have added products to their shelves upon my request more than once. The vegetable wraps and sushi options are great for a vegan on the go. I love the coffee shop too. They always do their best to accommodate my non dairy requests.

I like the HyVee grocery stores as their folks are friendly, and they tend to have much of the higher quality affair mixed in with the brand extension stuff. I dont care for the HyVee beef, though because it tends to be very wet and after I cook it, it shrinks more meet from some other butcher counters. Good wine and beer selection, too (but maybe not the best selection in town).

Nice layout to the store, friendly people, efficient management of lines. Cabbage and a few of the other veggies could be a little fresher, but generally the produce selection is good. The health food section is good and has mostly eliminated my need to make another stop at health food stores. I also really appreciate that you can mail packages at their service counter.

Prices are a little bit expensive than similar supermarkets but it depends on what you want to buy. For example fruits are better but some of the same brands and same things could be bought for cheaper in similar supermarkets. There are good meat options and salad and fancy stuff as appetizers that is highly recommended to buy from there.

This Hyvee has grown a lot in the last few years. The grocery selection is one of the best in town with large sections dedicated to various ethnic and organic foods. For those that like to drink: They have an amazing beer selection and their restaurant has good food and ridiculously good drink special.
