I dont even know where to begin! Im a Cedar Rapids transplant, moved here from Connecticut about 5 years ago. Connecticut has some ridiculously good pizza, Seriously! Pepes, Sallys Apizza, etc. Ive been seriously longing for the New Haven style pizza! The thin, light, flavorful - crisp in all the right places - crust, the sauce, the topping options (big fan of the Clam & Bacon) had to all be reserved for our family trips back out east. UNTIL NEED Pizza! This place not only makes an amazing New Haven style pie for "Cedar Rapids" these guys could hold their own on Wooster street in New Haven! Need Pizza took a classic style, made it their own and mastered it! The dough is perfect, the ingredients are fresh and the portions are HUGE! Your gonna leave with leftovers! If these guys start making Chicken Cutlet Grinders, I may eat every meal there! Atmospheres cool with Chalk board booths, growler chandeliers and even an aquarium, but honestly, you wont even care the pizzas so good! Service was exceptional! Staff had a strong menu knowledge and were extremely polite and just plain old fashioned friendly! My old sales manager is a "New Haven style Pizza connoisseur" (Still lives in CT) and Id bring him here! Thank yoU Need Pizza, Connecticut would be proud!

Nice looking place inside. Games were broken the whole 2 of them they had. The food lacked taste!! I would of preferred to make Jacks pizza for cheaper and way better taste which is sad :-( cheese bread was the same crust just minus the sauce to call it a cheese pizza which my daughter ordered. It would of been nice to have the wait staff tell us that also since it was little kids eating it. Basically in short it was like we ordered 2 cheese pizzas with out flavor. Presentation of meatballs was nice, but again frozen microwaved meatballs taste the same. Staff barely said hi. Its like they hired some nice looking young people that didnt have personalities. It took 20 min to get a box.

This is the ONLY pizza I have ever found that I will go out of my way to get. If pizza were rated on TPI (taste per square inch) NEED would be required to put a warning label on the box. Every bite sent me into sensory overload and only left me wondering what my next experience will entail. If you are looking for a pizza that is just piled high with mediocre toppings and government quality cheese - THIS IS NOT YOUR PLACE.! If you are looking for a perfectly balanced pie, where no sacrifices for quality, creativity and craftsmanship have been overlooked, that place is NEED.

I have stopped and gotten a slice at their walk-up window a couple times but I finally got a chance to sit inside and enjoy a pizza and a local beer. My ex-Mother in law made the most amazing homemade pizza several times a year and since she passed Ive craved one more slice of her pie. Today I had a better one..everything about Need Pizza was just the way I like..crispy Thin Crust, flavor bursting Tomato Sauce, a layer of rich Mozzarella Cheese, Roasted Red Peppers, Diced fresh Basil, Sliced Mushrooms and diced Bacon..it was perfect !! And the beer was good too LOL

Good pizza. Poor service. Waiter was friendly but seemed to busy to get back to us. It appears there was only two waiters for a full place at 12 on sat afternoon. We got one refil the whole time. After finishing and waiting 20 min i asked twice for our a for our waiter with nothing... Finally another person with us went and asked the girl up front to get our waiter (she was very nice and went to get her). Maybe i caught a bad time , not sure ill try again.

Best fresh pizza sauce I have ever had. The music was so loud that we had 6 people I could not hear the two other people on the other end of the table or the waiter. Food was awesome though. Atmosphere is poorly done with used 80s tables and booths. The chalk wall behind some booths are cool for the kids. Pizza is great atmosphere stinks. I went at 6:45 pm and they thought it was a club with thier music volume.

Went here on a birthday, got right in with a table of 8, everyone ordered a unique pizza and we all shared to try a little of each. Every single recipe was amazing!!! The service was also incredible and helpful with beers and pizza recommendations! Have been back several times! They also have a vegan pizza option, which is rare to find in CR, but very much appreciated!

Best pizza I have had since moving to Iowa can now say there is a good pizza place other than a gas station (caseys) chill laid back environment staff friendly not over the top service but its a pizza joint it was just right. Like the thinner style crust. By far best pizza around and decent prices. Will definitely be back and recommend.

They have delicious pizza, one of the best in the area! Need Pizza even has great vegan pizza which is so rare in this area. Im usually more of a deep dish fan, but Needs thin crust is so good they won me over and the pizza are big so youll still get full. They also have a great beer selection that pairs nicely with their pizza.

Fun atmosphere everywhere from the bar area, lots of booths, a party room to the back area thats good for kids and families. The New Haven style pizza is unique for this area. Great salads and lots of family style options. They seemed to have achieved a destination status in just their first year. Congratulations!

The service was excellent and the pizza was good. I was disappointed with toppings on the pizza; the amount of meat on the pizza was very slim. We had a meat and a chicken pizza so both had very little meat. The price was high for the amount of toppings. If there was more on the pizza, the price would be fair.

Cedar Rapids is in serious need of folks who know how to make real authentic Italian style pizza. Fortunately, there is Need Pizza. This place gets it. Its all about the crust. It is slightly better than Cappys and Tomassos. This makes it the best Pizza place in all of Cedar Rapids.

Awesome pizza really unique taste and styles of pizza I ate here once but prefer to get it as take out I gave them about an hour & half notice for when I would want the pizza & that worked out fine. Dont get the cookie dessert to go tho it melts too quickly otherwise everything awesome!!!

This was a fun pizza place in downtown CR. Personal pizzas were just right size for our group with appetizer to share. Nice variety of fresh healthy and fun ingredients you dont typically find in chain pizza places. Was a bit crowded and loud, and had to park area blocks away

The environment was great. I heard a lot about this place, but I wasnt impressed with the pizza. It was good, but the pizza crust was not my favorite and it didnt seem to have much for toppings. I ordered a personal and all of the cheese and toppings were in the middle.

In addition to being our new favorite thin pizza, you get a lot for your money here. Toppings are delicious - best execution of bacon on pizza Ive had anywhere. Fantastic beer selection including locals. Have yet to experience any service issues. Good stuff!
