No star!!! Let me show you the details: 1.The food and dishes are not clean,so dirty.and the food are not fresh. The same food was reused after treatment. 2.The waitrons ask the customer for tips face to face.No shame!!! 3.Some customers complained or no tips,The waitrons cursed the customers in Chinese, bud the customers were not understand. They are ill brought up. 4.The Fired rice and soup included more yellow pigments. That just looks good, but there are not good for your health!!! 5.There service was very poor.just give you the drinks ,but didnt take care the customers.many customers wanna check .but no bills.and didnt know which one is my waitron. So dont need to give the tips.and sometimes charged the customers more tips in the machine. 6.The waitress is one of the owner.often cursed the staff and the customers. She is ill bred. 7.The owners fluted each other for personal interest many times. 8.Adverse circumstances compelled this buffet restaurant will be closed!!!

Only One Step from a real Chinese Buffet because there is no Chinese Spicy Little Lobster. A decent Chinese Buffet in Ames (Maybe the best Chinese restaurant in Ames, but only an average one from my experience. I came from another University Town, and the level of Chinese Food in Ames really sucks! And Most sad thing is that most people here Dont Realize This!!). The sushi should be good since I have tried several times and nothing bad happened to my stomach. And there are some other good choice for eating. The servers always urge us to check, this makes me very uncomfortable!! They care about tips but their service is only re-fill, take away plates, and MESS WITH MY CREDIT CARD!! So I only use cash there.

Hubby and I ended up here on a date night. Decor is in dire need of a upgrade, as our booth had cracked and torn vinyl on the seats. We were early in the evening, and we had to ask the hostess what the process was, but basically, you walk in, they give you a table, and you just go start filling your plates. Given how early we were, some of the food on the buffet tasted "old," like it had been sitting there for a while already. The sushi, however, was very good, and the actual Mongolian grill part was good. Hubby complained that the selections of sauces for the grill were not well labeled. Not sure well be back, but it is certainly quick and easy, and we got full.

Came on a Monday around 5:30, not busy at all. Everything I put on my plate was cold except for the crab ragoon. It is also spendy for the quality of food you get. Above all, the waitress was the worst part. She didnt speak to us the whole time and when we paid her she stood at the table right next to our booth full on staring us down waiting for us to leave. She did not look away once even after I smiled at her. After an uncomfortable 2 minutes we finally left and as we walked past her she muttered something in Korean under her breath. Worst food service Ive ever had.

Seeking to avoid chain restaurants, I decided to try the Mongolian Buffet. It is a pretty standard "Asian" buffet, with maybe middle-quality mass-produced food. Decent quality, especially if you happen to find the dishes recently placed on the buffet. Lot of choices, nothing notable. The only different element is that there is a suchi bar, which during a mid-week evening had 6 different varieties of rolls (each okay) and four suchi. Overall, okay food. Nothing to note, desire, or return for.

We thought we would get the freshest food by coming in early. We were wrong. All the fried food was cold, which indicates that it was not fresh. All the steam table food was also cold and dry. We were told when we complained to try the hibatchi. I dont like that and only come for the steam table food, so I was still hungry. They didnt have the selection of sushi that I usually get. This was my mistake that I wont be making again. I should add that they did take $5.00 off of our final bill. :(

I came in on a monday evening, around 8:30pm, and observed the staff cleaning the soda machines in the back room and mopping the floor while wearing gloves. This attention to cleanliness where the customer does not usually see indicates to me that they have solid ethics and management. If they clean their back rooms that well, then we know that the rest of the restaurant is going to be clean as well. And, as always, the staff is unobtrusive but available, and the food is pleasing to me.

I have mixed feeling about this place. On one hand, it used to be the only real mongolian grill in Ames so I went here. On the other hand, this place is also kinda dirty inside, just take a look at those gross lobster tanks they have up front. Their mongolian grill is awesome and I enjoy the food, but I would rate the rest of the buffet as sub par. Honestly I think for this place to compete with Ames new HuHot theyre gonna have to make things nicer inside, especially up front.

Rude cooks! Today I went to have lunch here, and it was neither the first nor second time Ive caught the grill cooks badmouthing me in Spanish while they were cooking my food. They might have thought I wouldnt understand, but that doesnt give them the right to criticize a customer in their face. They should at least have the decency to do that in the kitchen. Suffice to say, I wont be coming back and I wont recommend this place to anyone. The waiting staff are nice, though.

I came here for a quick dinner after work yesterday and the food tasted fine at the time but later that night I threw up everything and it wasnt even fully digested like I could see a whole mushroom I had eaten. The staff spent more time conversing among themselves rather than checking on the tables. When I asked for my check they seemed all too happy that I was leaving because they gave me my bill within seconds. Wont be returning anytime soon.

Surely due to the time of day being not very busy, a lot of the food was not fresh, sitting under heat lamps for a long time. The food tasted good, so had it been fresh, it wouldve been 5 stars. The Mongolian Buffet part of the restaurant left a little to be desired both in freshness and selection. If youre going primarily for the Mongolian grill, Hu Hot is the better option. But its nice to have a full asian buffet to supplement the grill.
