Europe, Central America, and the US, I can honestly say this is my favorite coffee shop in the world. You walk in and feel like youre home. Ive noticed many people here say the coffee is awful or tastes like mud. I think this is because many people havent experienced the joy that is ultra-fresh, french pressed coffee before. The rich, earthy flavors and oils that lends to the coffee are something to experience (and admittedly something to get used to if you havent had much french press before). Just a hint if youre new to french press: dont drink the last sip in the cup, and yes that stuff (silt) in the bottom of the cup is normal. It means its good! At Greyhouse they hand press each batch of coffee. Beans are never kept past expiration date and the coffee is constantly being made fresh so youre never going to get a cup thats been sitting around all day in a carafe. The coffee comes fresh roasted from fair trade or direct trade with suppliers. Thats great because you know the farmers are getting a decent wage for their product. In many cases, the staff have visited and personally know the farmers from whom they get their coffee. As to the cost, like many other things in life, you get what you pay for. Anytime Im back at Purdue, Greyhouse is an absolute MUST.

Just moved to Lafayette and I was excited to try a local, non-chain, coffee shop. The staff at the counter was super nice, not so much with the kitchen staff. I was trapped in my office working and I was looking for something I could have for a really late lunch and went in. I am basically only able to eat meat, cheese and veggies right now, so I asked if I could have a crepe without the crepe. The server thought it would be possible and went to check with the kitchen. For some reason, the kitchen thought even though I was three steps away that I wouldnt be able to hear them. They could do something called a scramble, which would be exactly what I wanted, but they did not want to, so they didnt. Because I was so hungry and so unfamiliar with what was around, I ended up paying $13 for a small cup of coffee and a gluten-free crepe where the only thing I could really eat on it was the ham that I peeled off. Way overpriced (even if I could eat the whole crepe) and a kitchen that isnt willing to entertain requests from the customers. I doubt Ill ever walk in the door again.

Greyhouse is my bread and butter. It’s the jam on my toast and wind in my hair. When I just start to think about the place that is Greyhouse, I feel warm and fuzzy all over my body while a smile erupts from my face. If you haven’t been to Greyhouse, you haven’t lived a full-bodied coffee experience. Not only does Greyhouse have a superb selection of caffeinated beverages and bites, but also the service at their fine facility is above and beyond. No matter the emotions you are feeling when you enter the building, you will leave feeling uplifted, energized, and ready to take on the day. The ambiance, community, and character surrounding this place are the dimensions that keeps people coming back without fail. I recommend this coffee shop to anyone who is within a 100-mile radius and promise it is worth the trip! Thank you Greyhouse for great coffee, glorious people, and good times.

Quite possibly the best coffee shop in the greater Lafayette area. Simple menu, amazing specialty drinks, artisan pastries, gelato, teas of all kind, and a one of a kind old-school atmosphere. All of their coffee is french pressed daily, they feature a variety of different blends from Sumatran to Colombian, and if one cup isnt enough they offer a full self service coffee bar. If youre in the mood for something different they have a crêpe selection that will tickle anyones fancy. They provide free wifi and you can even pick three songs from their database (like a jukebox) from you computer to play on their sound system. You can hang out and play scrabble, card games, or even battleship. They usually have something going on every Friday night whether it be paint your own pottery or live music. If you are in the Purdue area this place is a must visit.

This is a great place to either grab a coffee to go, meet friends, or sit and get some work done. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and will help you find the perfect drink for you. They offer lots of alternatives for food allergies. Very cozy surroundings and clean workspaces and tabletops. Prices are on par with other espresso based coffee stops (a place the rhymes with Carducks. :P). Note- traffic in this area can be kind of dicey (only 2hour parking in the area). If youre on foot, it can be down right dangerous (the coffee shop sits on the corner of a weirdly constructed intersection). People in a hurry in their cars trying to get to and from campus are not paying attention to pedestrians in the crosswalk - so be aware while making your journey to Greyhouse

I like Greyhouse because of its location, since I spend a lot of time on campus. It also has a nice atmosphere and the service is wonderful. The coffees, pastries and gelatos are delicious, so theres definitely a lot the place has to offer! The things I dont like about Greyhouse is that its almost always crowded and more often than not its hard to find a place to sit down. Its also a little dark inside so I dont like reading there for too long. My last complaint is that the prices are a little too high for a students budget... So its a mix for me. I dont really go there unless one of my friends already on campus wants to get together. Still, if you dont mind spending a little extra for (good) coffee/tea/food, you will like it.

You know a great place when the biggest problem is parking - Northwestern can be such a jam, not in a cool way. Greyhouse has all the right elements, cool and friendly staff, quality beverages (favorite is the Masala chai and Dr. Strangelove), crepes (amazing), gelato (more amazing), and house made deserts, plenty of teas to try, and a good amount of chairs, tables, and space to study and enjoy the alternative urban atmosphere. It can get cramped on busy study nights being practically on campus; and as first mentioned, Purdues Breakfast club and home games can make for a traffic mess. And there are cheaper places for coffee. But for the service, atmosphere, and quality of beverages and food, Greyhouse has the right stuff.

First time for me to visit this place and had an awful experience. I ordered a margharita crepe for breakfast and when close to the window I hear the person making my breakfast say that he had never prepared a margarita crepe before while he was picking up the content inside the crepe with his own hands and splashing it all over a new crepe. My order was ready by the time my girlfriend had finished with hers and while eating it I felt something crush in my teeth, pulled it out with my hand and surprise a huge piece of glass that I almost swallowed. Honestly Im very grateful I didnt swallowed that glass, just be very careful with what you order at Greyhouse and the person whos behind the kitchen. Dissapointed.
