The food was OK, the staff was courteous. Big problem.... they dont have a working lock on their bathroom door and apparently this is funny to them? Something here is up. I know because my private business became completely public as the bathroom door faces the entire shop and a young lady walked in right as I was doing some "paper work". She and I were both mortified. I went to the counter and told the guy that the lock appears to work but people can walk in anyway. He said "Yeah... I know... were working on it". Really? Im still here, and in the last 30 minutes several other people have been walked in on and they still wont even put a sign on the friggin door (which is still not enough). How is this "Working on it"? I guess this place is OK if you want to pay 10 bucks for a BLT with some avocado and a coffee and you dont mind people watching you poop.

Im all for making a profit but this owner has taken it to a new level. a nearby shop has been serving meals to the homeless on Thursdays and heres what the lovely Mr. Kalal did - “I’m not against helping people, but when it hurts my building and other businesses, I go off....” Kalal called the police to complain about the Buttery Shelf Eatery. An anonymous caller once told police that people were doing drugs behind the Buttery Shelf Eatery, but there was a police officer watching the scene already and stated people “were just standing there waiting for the place to open.” Another time, police were called because a line of poor people for the free lunches blocked some traffic. Eventually, Buckley grew tired of the "bullying" by local businesses and ended the free lunches

Service was okay, but coffee was terrible! Also, they have a very bad layout for a place that looks to hand you your drinks over the counter. Theres nowhere to stand with counter access after you order. Seeing as other negative reviews focused on the service, I went in with high hopes. Unfortunately, both my espresso and my girlfriends coffee had strange flavors. Despite being caffeine junkies, our coffee made it to the other end of the roadtrip to be thrown out. If you want truly great coffee in Lafayette, try Java Joz; theyre out of the way for students, but my current favorite coffee anywhere. Also, I was told they had good, inexpensive bagels. I didnt try them as I dont consider 1.50 per plain bagel inexpensive.

UPDATE: New owners, I believe. Complimentary donuts the last time I was there. I think the game has been stepped up and I would recommend this place to anybody. I dont think think there are any roasting machines on-site but after its name-change, it doesnt matter- the advertising matches the product and nobody can be fooled. OLD: This is not a roaster. There is no roasting machine at this facility. A huge let down for those who understand roasting. HOWEVER, I was told by the owner that the coffee is, in fact, roasted at a large capacity facility in another nearby town making it still better than Starbucks.

This is a great coffee shop with a old school bar feel. Seating is abundant and outlets seem available. The menu is mainly coffee based, as it should be, but food items are available. My wife and I shared two coffees. Each was a natural processed, one from Brazil and the other from Ethiopia. I had both brewed on a Kalita but Chemex, V60, and French Press are available. Espresso is offer as well, of course. The barista gave me a sample of Nitro Cold brew, which was great. If you like coffee and are in the Lafayette area, you should stop by.

Awesome customer service and really connected to the community. They roast locally and rotate stock frequently so you can always have excellent, fresh coffee. I love small shops like these with staff who care about you and want to help YOU, unlike bigger chains that approach business and customers with the same "cookie cutter " approach. It may not be as fast, or at times convenient, as a drive thru window, but the service and product are worth the extra time and effort on your part.

Easily the best coffee shop in the greater Lafayette area, for the coffee, the food, and the super friendly service. They now roast their beans in-house and offer a variety of roasts and flavors. Their breakfast and lunch foods are all amazing. I personally love the apple streusel pancakes for breakfast and the bruschetta panini for lunch. My only complaint is that I think they close too early, at 4 p.m every day, but thats just my own opinion. :)

Im picky about coffee, and K Dees has really excellent coffee. Of course, you can get a top notch latte or cappuccino there. The wireless is free, and the ambiance is great. Interesting artwork is displayed inside. Theres usually a small gathering of people at the outdoor tables. The owner always seems to be there, and he is friendly. I also buy their coffee (Killer Beans) to brew at home. Given how good it is, the prices are very reasonable.

Cool small city feel and urban atmosphere, very friendly staff and great variety of beverages and treats that taste unique to this place. Really neat to see local artists featured in the interior decor. However parking is limited, the prices are quite up there, and being open only til 4 everyday sure shuts down any chance of evening coffee here.

Fuel has proved itself to be a fine place to unwind and enjoy good coffee. I visited the location around 1230 on a Wednesday. The interior decor allows an individual to relax, and the soft music was calming to me, an otherwise hypersensitive to items x, y, and z individual. I would recommend it, and will likely visit again soon.

I order quiche and a chai & the chai is lovely- tastes like Im drinking a spiced cloud. Theres toys for the kids in the back, a changing table in the bathroom, and people of all ages sitting here. Friendly staff. Can get a little chilly in winter because its hard to escape from the door opening & closing. (So bring a coat!)

Coffee is amazing!! This is a small local place that is frequented by locals. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is good- Ive only had a bagel. However, I am looking forward to their coffe cake muffin. I am in love with their Fuel Jack and the Dirty Ivan is good. I just wish I lived closer so I could go every day.

This is my favorite coffee shop in Lafayette/West Lafayette. The coffee is great, the people are friendly, and the food is surprisingly good - some of the best breakfast in town. If youre wanting to study here, it can be hit or miss on weekends because it gets pretty busy, but during the week you can usually find a spot.

A great place for a short morning meet-up. K Dees brings back the sense of community you want in a historic downtown district. The friendly staff, great menu and appealing local art on the walls all work together for a great atmosphere. Definitely an asset to Lafayette. Had a great time there and will be back.

Come here every Saturday morning to work. Beautiful space with lots of light. Excellent coffee selections (both regular and specialty drinks). Also, for a treat, try one of their muffins (typically four kinds are offered, and you cant go wrong) - ask for it warmed up, with butter.
