Went to enjoy some Maxs pizza and a couple beers after a beautiful afternoon around Lake Lemon. Sat shortly after 5pm in the family area with one other table. Waitress came out promptly and we placed our order of Zucchini fries and a pizza. 10 minutes after our order was placed a large group of local folks who had spent a little too much time drinking and boating came in and sit right next to us. We overheard the waitresses tell them that if they wanted appetizers it would be a bit because they only had two ovens and were currently making pizzas which normally take about 10 to 15 minutes. They said no problem and placed a drink and appetizer order. 10 minutes pass... 20 minutes pass... we still have not had our waitress even check on us... 30 minutes pass... a different waitress brings out a order of calamri, Mozireilla cheese sticks, 2 orders of breadsticks and another round of drinks to the table of loud drunks. 40 minutes we still have not got our fried zucchini or seen our waitress to refill drinks. At the 55 minute mark I have had enough and leave money for our drinks and walk out. Sorry Porthole I have heard stories of bad service here, but that it had changed with the new ownership and was dying to get my hands on some tasty Maxs pizza once again. I should have listened to the warnings. This is the worst service I have received in 14 years of living in Bloomington and the first thats warranted me actually leaving a review. If you are the new owners please look into this and save future customers from having to endure an experince like this. Maxs was the best pizza in Bloomington and I had high hopes when I found out it had been reborn at The Porthole Inn. Sadly it seems my last ever slice of Maxs was on the square. RIP Maxs, sorry Travers.

Utterly atrocious. I arrived here for a Sunday brunch buffet at about 11:30 only to find a buffet comprised of mere scraps of food. Had it been stocked, it would have consisted of 5 items: hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, and biscuits & gravy. What a spread! The only food option available was biscuits & gravy, and seeing how my entire purpose in this trip was to consume food, I helped myself. The biscuits were dry and the gravy was bland. Combining them resulted in an unsatisfying concoction of floury paste. A server saw my plate and asked if I was finished, and I explained Id merely just began, but the lack of food has severely stifled my options. She promised more food was on the way, and moments later, the chef proudly delivered a tray of hash browns. At this point I am unimpressed, but still formulating my opinion of the place. "Maybe the hash browns will redeem it", I optimistically thought. At a glance it was clear the hash browns were formerly frozen patties that the good folks here at Port Hole Inn warmed up to a serving temperature. There is no redemption here. "The hash browns sure are hot," someone said. Even after digging deep, this was absolutely the greatest compliment available. There was no denying that the flavorless, mushy hash browns were in fact hot. After one miserable bite, I threw down some money and left. I credit the chef, as he followed us out and inquired why were leaving, teasing that scrambled eggs were on the way. Sorry sir, no eggs could revert this disastrous wisp of a meal I just witnessed. I urge one of two things: 1) you, the reader, never spend your money here, or 2) the management of Port Hole Inn make drastic changes to improve the quality of food and customer care.

This restaurant has been revitalized in the last year with new ownership, and the improvement has been dramatic! I have been there 6 times in the last 6 months, and have really enjoyed the catfish dinners, the greens, the weekend music offerings, and the drink selection. I hear the pizza is great too. We have been very happy each visit!

Went with a bunch of friends after a day out on the lake and had a great time. Great bar food and if you like catfish come with an empty stomach because get a lot and its freaking amazing. The band that was there that night handed out instruments for for people to play with while the band played. Cool little local place.

Its an eclectic crowd and good food and drink youll find at the Port Hole Inn along with live music on the weekends. Indiana University is within 13 miles and this place is right for sitting at the bar for a beer or sitting down with your kids for a meal in their family room.

Delicious catfish and the best fried mushrooms Ive ever had. Well priced food and spirits in a somewhat divey local atmosphere. Live music on weekends. Definitely a good punctuation mark at the end of a trip to Lake Lemon.

Feels a little dank inside, but you cant argue with good, affordable food and drink. A great place to stop while spending a day on the lake or touring around the area.

Have Donnie cook you a fresh ribeye steak, catfish sandwich or try the pizza. Boat dock access on south Shore just east of the Bloomington Yacht Club

I met the love of my life here at the Hole! We met there 17 1/2 years ago. I think the Justin Case band had something to do with it!
