We were on our way home from a wedding in Cleveland and ran into traffic on I-94 headed towards Chicago. We had never heard of Quaker Steak and Lube, and now Im wishing we hadnt. At first, we stopped just to see what it was because we had seen the sign on the interstate and it piqued our interest. After seeing the parking lot reasonably full and people sitting outside, we decided to give it a try. We were seated right away, and the obviously inexperienced waitress took our drink orders. We all just had water, but it still took her 10 minutes to bring 4 glasses of water and straws. My wife and I ordered the 2 for $19.99 dinner special which consisted of 12 boneless wings for her, a cheeseburger for me, and the Philly cheesesteak flatbread as an appetizer. My daughter had a steak which she ordered medium well, and my mom had a grilled steak salad which she asked for medium rare. Then we sat.......and waited.......and waited.......and waited some more. The waitress finally came back after about 25 minutes and apologized, telling us that they were having a lot of problems in the kitchen. So we waited some more, listening to someones child throwing a tantrum about 2 tables over. At some point, we looked at the floor and noticed that it looked like it hadnt been cleaned in.....well......ever. The walls were cinder block and hadnt been cleaned in a very long time either. There were papers on the floor under our booths as well as straw wrappers and nasty bits of food. Honestly, the place was disgusting. So, finally our food arrives after about 45 minutes. The flatbread appetizer arrives with the meal, which really defeats the purpose of an appetizer, but at least its not still sitting under the heat lamp. Ive never eaten a philly cheesesteak before, but Im reasonably sure its not supposed to be hot, (spicy), enough to burn the hair off of your backside. It tasted like they took some italian beef and threw some italian dressing, garlic, and jalapenos in with it to make it "unique". It was nasty! My wifes asian sesame boneless wings were dry and also far spicier than they were supposed to be. My daughters steak was supposed to be medium well and it was almost rare. My moms steak salad was supposed to be medium rare and it was past well done and heading towards becoming a pair of Nikes. When my daughter unwrapped her silverware, she noticed dried food on the napkin and something nasty on the silverware as well. My wife also found dirty silverware, so that made 50% of the silverware at the table that was unclean. The womens restroom was a filthy mess with paper towels all over the floor and unclean toilets. A waitress came in while they were in there and scooped up the paper towels on the floor, threw them in the garbage, and left without washing her hands. The waitress only came around once to check on us, and asked us how things were. We expressed our displeasure at the quality of the food, and all she did was apologize and tell us again how hectic it was in the kitchen. Another employee came over shortly afterwards and asked us how everything was and we once again expressed our dissatisfaction, once again with nothing more than an apology for the food taking so long. And to top it all off, we were charged the individual meal prices instead of the special 2 for $19.99, but we didnt notice that until we were already 120 miles down the road. To sum it up, we will NEVER return to this restaurant. This was extremely poor quality food at unreasonably high prices and an unqualified wait and kitchen staff.

I ADVISE ALL TO DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTURAUNT...HORRIBLE I will NEVER go back to this place. Never in my life have I never not left a tip even if the service was sub-par, but I didnt leave a tip at this place. We went here for dinner and waited 20 minutes to get seated. On a Thursday night I might say. They wanted to seat the adults in the bar area and the kids in a completely different room. INSANE the kids ages are from 9,6,6,5,3 years old to 1 year old and they wanted to put them in a completely different room. Unbelievable!!!! The waitress could get our drinks right. Finally when our food came 1 hour and 15 minutes later they gave me some kind of chicken sandwich that I didnt even order. I ordered the Hot Rod chicken sandwich (crispy chicken with provolone cheese and ranch.) It was a grilled chicken sandwich with BBQ sauce and cheese with tomato and onion. Then I asked the waitress to bring me the right sandwich. 5 minutes later she brings me another grilled chicken sandwich with jalapeno pepper beans and chips on the sandwich (The Arizona El Camino sandwich) which once again isnt what I ordered even after showing her the menu and pointing out the sandwich for the 3rd time, she still couldnt get it right. As well as telling her there is no way they cooked that chicken that fast. So all they did is scrape the chicken clean and add different contents. I finally said after 2 hours forget just give me my bill. Which was screwed up as well. Charging me for items I never even ordered. It took her 22 minutes to fix my bill before we could leave. The management was no better I talked with the first manager that night to express my concerns and she told me" you need to take that up with your server" and walked away. So 10 minutes later another manager walk up and said she should have never taking our table because she was new, but isnt the that manager job to ensure that doesnt happen. All the server and the managers did was try to blame the other one for the mix up instead of making my order correct. Top all this of my wifes sandwich was missing contents along with my buddies (whom had the same sandwich as my wife). His wifes sandwich was completely wrong (not what she ordered at all) but she at it anyway. As well as there sister sandwich which was correct but absolutely nothing on it no condiments what so ever.

I have to say Quaker steak in in Portage has went to trash . I have been there countless times and never had an issue but I must say this time was the worst ever! We ordered the all you can eat wings today "Tuesday" the first order was fantastic had lots of sauce nothing better . When he had our reorders the chicken was dry and far from having anything close to the normal amount of sauce . I understand problems happen but we happened to ask the waitress for sauce there was barely any on our wings and showed her . She stated she can bring sauce but there is .50 charge . Wth you charging me for sauce that should have been on the order in the first place like the first order was! They have slowly become money hungry . As you can see from the photos my first order had lots of sauce 2nd had close to none and after I complained that they were charging for sauce that shouldve been on the order in the first place without a .50 charge because its all you can eat they were great after that but very slow to come out to our table like they were waiting for us to leave . Please view photos . I wont go to this place ever again the manager didnt even make it right til after I raised hell and Im still not happy or full for the prices and what I paid for . We got tired of waiting and just paid for the crap food and left .
