If you want to be treated like garbage, South of chicago pizza is just the place. Here is my familys horrible experience at this establishment. We were in downtown indy for the Monster Supercross event at the Lucas oil stadium, we left the event early because we were exhausted and starving, also we live about 40 min. From downtown. We looked up pizza restaurants in the area and dound this one fairly close, also we have small children who were starving and I myself am 3 months pregnant so we were craving pizza. We walked in at around 9:30 P.M. with my family and my sisters family as well. (Group of 9 ppl. Including our children.) The pizza smelled delicious and it was pretty cold outside, so we were getting ready to take a seat. We were so excited, we never really go out with all the children, anyways as we proceed to walk in, the heavy set man (For lack of better term) with a rather dirty long ponytail told my brother in law that they were closing and couldnt serve "Our people." We asked why? He said " Its been a slow night and we cant serve you guys." We than told him "Well your sign says you close at 11 P.M. " he than said "Yeah well its been slow and I have to go home and take care of things." So we all looked at each other confuded bevause there was a group of 3 white (Caucasian) individuals just barely placing an order. We had noto even passed the front door. So we just left, hungry and so disrespected and humiliated. Im still crying. My daughter was in tears because she was so hungry. Ifvyhe business owner reada this, i want you to know that you disrepecred not jut myself but my entire family and were treated so unfairly. We will take gladly take our busineas someehwre else wherw it matters and also want to say that be smart in picking your battles. I will be filing a civil rights complaint on Monday morning. I work for The State At the Indiana Goverment center am this will be addressed formally. We are Hispanic and proud of it. Our people make small businesses like yours grow. We will not live up to the Latino stereotype of Chidsih and unpleasant behavior with profanity. Especially in front if our children. Just know that you cant treat people and their kids like this and get away with it.

After tonight if I could put a negative star, I would. This was our favorite pizza place in Indianapolis that we ordered from often. Tonight we called after our pizza was over 15 mins late to get an estimated time of arrival. The manager put us on hold and then came back instantly yelling at us that since we ordered through their app its a third party person and that they just got the order and it would be over an hour before we got our order. After asking the manager if we could have a sooner time (it was a simple pizza no deep dish) he flew off the handle and told us this isnt his fault and continuously yelled that he wasnt going to do anything because none of this is his fault. When we pointed out that he was the manager and of course he could help us he hung up on us. Matter of fact he hung up on us three times as we kept asking him what he could do to get the pizza, if the order was still being made, and when we would get our order. He told us to call his third party and ask them for a refund because he wasnt going to give us one. When we asked what his name was he wouldnt tell us. When we asked to talk to a different manager he said he was the owner, even though he obviously started out saying he was the manager. I am in complete awe at how childish and rude this person was and we will never go back to South of Chicago. Every time we called back to ask him to quit making the food he would say "IM REALLY BUSY" and would hang up the phone. I cant believe this is an actual event that happened tonight and that someone in the food industry who needs customer service to operate would treat people like this right off the bat. As a dietitian who works in the food service business this place is a complete joke tonight. Again, I cant believe someone cant handle customers and being busy. If you are looking for some place to order pizza from and have a pleasant experience this isnt it.

After Brickworld we were headed back home through downtown and decided that we wanted to try something new. So, this was a place that was saved to a short list and decided it was time to try. Because it was a Sunday afternoon we were able to find street parking across the street but I could imagine that during busy times it may be a challenge to find a parking spot. Maybe they have a lot behind the building...but I am not sure. The place is a hole in the wall. They have a carry out side and a dine in side. There are a few tables scattered around with a TV towards the back. A girl sat us and told us that drinks were self serve from the fountain. Odd, but at the same time you could get a refill without waiting for your server to come back. She gave us plenty of time to look over the menu which consisted of pizza, pasta, and salads. I decided to go with a basic deep dish pizza with extra cheese. While waiting looked around and the place is well kept and clean. The place is decorated with pictures from around Chicago. When our food came out I was surprised that "extra cheese" really meant extra. So I grabbed a slice and dug in. It was great. Delicious crust, sauce, and toppings. I was very happy. I only did a small I believe 10" but was not able to finish it all. Which is fine because that meant bringing the deliciousness home. Our server as very nice and attentive to our needs. Just a fabulous place in a trendy part of downtown!

I took my girlfriend out on a date night and we decided to try South of Chicago. I was very disappointed. We ordered the Italian beef sandwich to split and it was great but this was the only great part of our experience. There were 2 servers for the entire restaurant on a Saturday night (6-18-16). They could not handle the amount of customers they had. Not their fault but they bore the brunt of the complaints. Our several seated us gave us the menus, told us where the soda fountain was and said hed be back to take our order. 15 minutes later, he took our order after I had to flag him down to tell him we were ready. After we placed our order we waited some time again and again I had to ask if theyd forgotten us because 2 tables who came in after us got their pizzas. The waiter apologized and went back to the kitchen and magically our pizza was ready. The pizza was disappointing as well. It was undercooked and didnt taste very good. I was also kind of disappointed that I had to get up every 5 or 10 minutes to get my own drink. Probably will be a long time before I go back. Also the ladies at the table next to me were very upset with their service and sent their uncooked pizza back. Not a good night for SOC Pizza.
