I am very picky when it comes to eating Indian Food since I am an Indian and I cook food at home. I am from California and recently moved to Indianapolis. I have been to several Indian restaurants but, never found the right quality and taste of food until I went to India Palace. I usually go during their Buffet times and they always serve me and my husband Fresh Garlic Naan and their food is amazing! I would recommend trying Indian food at this restaurant if you are new to Indian food and want to try something exotic or different. I gave this place three stars is because I went during after buffet hours a few weeks ago and they were short staffed and no one else was in the restaurant besides me and my sister. I had asked for Shahi Paneer with the red gravy and they gave me something totally different and the waiter was so confused that she didnt even know the menu to the restaurant. But other than that, it is a good restaurant.

I used to be a repeat customer solely because it was a convenient choice. The service I recieved was always lackluster and only seemed to improve slightly when I dined with a male companion. Not sure whether issue is a language barrier or otehrwise, but many of the servers come off as rude. Todays visit in particular cinched the deal as I was dining alone while reading a book and one of the waiters took the time to tell me how overweight he thought I was (true i admit, but unnecessary nonetheless). All the while, smiling. The quality of the food is also inconsistent and that is not only my opinion, but the opinion of my Indian and Pakistani friends. They dont appreciate most of their customers. The entire ordeal is not worth the aggravation. There are better Indian restaurants in Indy that do treat their customers with respect.

Ive been to all the Indian restaurants in Indy and this has always been the best and most consistent. Their buffet is a bargain, service is ever present, immediate seating. Wonderful servers! I go at least once a week, usually on weekends and its gotten to where when I come in the door they immediately bring out masala tea for me and then have the mango lassi to-go ready for me at the end of the meal (as thats what I always order - now I dont even have to mention it!). Ive tried the Udupi Cafe twice and its come up desperately wanting - no service the first time - we just fended for ourselves and thought maybe they were short-staffed that night, and the second time the server didnt speak enough English to know what to-go- meant.

Im not sure "like"is the best word to describe this restaurant. You may be asking - but he gave it a four star and thats accurate, but its about the entire experience for me. The food is good. The have both vegetarian and meat options if you choose. The buffet is decent and kept up well - which is important. The service is fast and they servers are really polite and helpful. The place is clean and has a nice ambience. The only thing that bites me is the cost of the experience. It shocked me that I paid almost 14$ for a lunch buffet, with a fountain drink - to include tip. Otherwise all who enjoy a different flavor should seek this place out at least once. Enjoy

One of the most thoroughly disappointing restaurants I have ever had the misfortune to visit. The food was so incredibly bland that it made me question the functioning of my taste buds. Furthermore, the service was notably poor - our empty buffet plates were never cleared and thus we ran out of both table space and water. The food we ate tasted as I imagine Indian food prepared by aliens from another galaxy might taste - or to paraphrase Douglas Adams, it was "almost, but not quite entirely, unlike Indian food." Ultimately, the restaurants broken and partially-illuminated sign is a perfect metaphor for the establishment within - a true symphony of mediocrity.

Just to be clear, the food is good. Good quality both for individual orders as well on the lunch buffet. HOWEVER, the service is very curiously poor. I always feel like the staff are busy or engaged, but never with me. It seems to be training-related as it is almost always below average. For takeout? Cant miss. Delicious and timely and worth every penny. Dine-in...only for lunch buffet have I been pleased with the service when my expectations were low. Make your service as good as the food and Ill raise this a star.

The food is pretty okay. Saag is okay. Curried goat and chicken are good. Water service is GREAT, but overall is somewhat poor. We ordered saag paneer ($10) when we first got in and it took a while for it to come out. Our waiter asked us about our naan and we didnt get it until about 7 minutes before we left, after I asked about it. We ordered a mango lassi and never got it. The dinner buffet is decent, but the naan was somewhat burnt and tasted like garlic bread. This was the 2nd visit in 7 years. May not go back.

The lunch buffet is nice. Their food is always tasty. They have dishes with boneless meat, which I particularly like. The atmosphere is pretty nice. The last 2 times I was there, they did not ask what spice level I wanted. The first time it was ok but the 2nd time it was too hot. So, if you have a preference, be sure to tell them. Our table cloth was dirty the last time we were there. They are doing a bit of a renovation with their venu space next to the restaurant. Their service is usually good & always polite.

Had the lunch buffet and was very pleased. I am not a vegetarian - having said that, the vegetarian offerings are so robust, I didnt feel like I was missing out. There were plenty of "meaty" items as well though. Some familiar, some not... The dishes were all delicious - I even tried goat, and it was actually pretty good! Plenty of choices with honest flavors. The staff was very attentive, and quite friendly. They even offered suggestions as to how to combine dishes. It was awesome, I cant wait to go back.

I ordered food for my daughters 5th birthday and food was awesome. The kind of service Mr. Sukhdev provided was unbelievable. He did not promise for tea due to full booking but still he managed to send that. If I talk about food then you should try. If you are little skeptical about cream then be sure that you will get food with cream. Try Malai kofat, bhindi masala and dal makhni, you will love it. Oh yeah do not forget to try Samosa and Tandoori chicken..... I am glad that all guests loved the food.

This used to be my favorite place to eat Indian food. We visited a few weeks ago and while in the bathroom, I discovered several cockroaches! I cannot believe someone else didnt see them. If there are cockroaches out during the day, youd better bet the place is infested at night! Yuck! I see someone else wrote about a cockroach on their table. I totally believe it now after my last experience there. I called the health dept. They did an inspection and found evidence of roaches, also.
