The restaurant was mostly empty when we walked in, no hostess or waitstaff greeted us and there was no signage to direct whether we seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We finally just walked to a table and sat down. Our waitress took our drink orders somewhat promptly but forgot to bring any napkins or silverware, even after bringing our appetizer. My husband and I both ordered burgers with fries. The fries were really fairly good (hence two stars instead of one) but not worth the extra $1. Our burgers were both very well done; dry, brunt in some areas, and lacking much flavor. I sent my burger back, after waiting 5-10 minutes for condiments and napkins and then another 10 minutes for our waitress to ask how the food was. My husband ate his burger because he was too hungry to wait. The manager did offer another meal, but by this time my husband finished his food and was ready to pay. I also took the time we waited to look at reviews and decided it was probably best to just eat something at home. I also was disappointed that the website boasts "gluten free options" but the only options are for a GF bun or GF pizza crust. Those do not equal gluten free meal options. Unfortunately, my family will not be returning anytime soon. Even my parents and friends have said they had similar experiences. Too bad, Blind Owl, you really had the neighborhood excited. Try to focus on your menu and service staff first, then bring in the fun games, events, etc. Excellent service and memorable food are what will keep people coming back.

Beers are solid, but the management cant figure out how to turn tables. Hour and a half wait after 8pm is absurd, especially when we offered to split up and they still couldnt accommodate us. **Update: I gave Blind Owl another try about a month ago with a group of friends on a busy Friday night. We were seated quickly, but the service was extremely slow. We heard another table complaining shortly after we sat down, so it wasnt just our group that had a problem. The server rushed away from the table several times without checking on more than two or three people in our party of 9. A couple of our entrees came out wrong, and the food runner seemed annoyed that she had to deal with it. One meal didnt arrive with the others, and was about 10 minutes behind the rest. Upon mentioning any issues, the server was very rude in her responses, complaining that she was busy. Needless to say, I am unimpressed. The food was decent, but a bit expensive for what you get. The beer selection was quite good. Unfortunately, I will probably not return.

We visited Blind Owl on our way to our daughters graduation ceremony at the Fair Grounds. There were 13 of us. We told out server Tabitha that we were on a time schedule and we needed to be out the door by 5:15pm. She was very efficient and all of the food was served hot and delicious!! We had a variety of dishes from the mac n cheese to the fish n chips. BLT on gluten free bun, California wrap, bbq nachos, soft pretzels. Everyone was very happy with their choices. I tried the Hoo Hoo Honey and was pleasantly surprised (Im an IPA guy). This was our 3rd trip to the Blind Owl and have been happy with our experience every time. Will continue to visit and hope to make it to the patio for some games next time. Tabitha told us it was her first evening on her own and she did a fantastic job!!

UPDATE: Went again this past week. Horrible waiting times once again, and some of the staff was visibly frustrated/angry. I couldnt leave the restaurant for some time because I couldnt get my check. Im just so sad. Blind Owl... I really want to give you five stars. I do. You have such good food, you have such good drink specials, and the patio is one of the best places to enjoy dinner in Indy, but service has been REALLY bad the past few weeks. I wait way too long for water refills, food, and the check at the end of the meal. If Im seated on the patio, it could be fifteen minutes before Im seen by a waiter/waitress, and wait times for drinks and food can drag on even on less busy nights. If service were less spotty, Id give you a five star rating EASILY.

Walked in around 5:45 with 5 adults and a toddler. The family dining area was nearly empty. The hostess should have seated us immediately but had us sit down and forgot to put our name down. After 2 other groups say down before us, we asked the hostess staff when we would be seated. They again asked for our name and said 10 more minutes. After 30 total minutes waiting we walked out without them even apologizing. Some Guys Pizza seated us instantly. Expected more from the same people who own Binkleys. Wont give them a second chance when there are plenty of better brewerys.

I want to like this place, I really do. Its one of the only chill places close to where we live. It has an awesome setup, but unfortunately the third time was not a charm for us. We are Fairly easy to please, and with the high prices on the menu I think our expectations are allowed to be somewhat higher than mediocre. However, the service, the high price and non-food object found in our meal has unfortunately given it a strike three for us. Might be a place for drinks only? Not sure because I dont want to give up just yet but theres not much pulling me back.

Ive been here with my family five times now. Two adults and two kids. First the house brews are outstanding. In a sea of new micro breweries that are thoroughly mediocre, these guys are one of the few that actually know how to make a good beer. Weve alway been happy with the food quality as well. As others have mentioned, the service is hit and miss. Its never been terrible, but can be slow, hence four stars instead of five. The interior atmosphere can be somewhat noisy with all the hard surfaces, but really looks great.

Ok, went to opening weekend and beer and atmosphere great, food was backed up and shut down...Typical. Two more trips over 18 months for food: service so slow that some people after us ate first and after 1.5 hours, food came and was not all correct. No effort to fix it, so good for beer, but Id recommend not eating there, same story from at least 10 others... Final Beer experience and atmosphere 4, food service 1 tops. Taste of food 3.5.

Went in for lunch, greeted promptly and with a smile. It was not busy but we waited a long time for service. Almost 10 minutes went by and 3 servers walked by our table and never even looked our way. We had to flag someone down. Almost as long with drinks setting up at the bar, had to ask hostess for them. My drink was awful, husband had beer sampler and their beers were good. Food was good for a bar but nothing special.

The beer is very good, the bar is fast and outdoor atmosphere is very cool. The waiter service is extremely slow both inside and outside. The food inside is alright but it takes forever to get. I will only go there again to drink beer outside. I will never eat there again. There are hundreds of other restaurants that are willing to provide respectable service, good food and relatively decent wait times.
