We came in for a concert from St. Louis and the first place we visited was the Ale Emporium. We seated ourselves as the sign in front stated. When we sat down (at a table in the bar area) the bartender yelled to us from behind the bar and asked us what we wanted to drink and if we needed a menu. We had to get up from the table and get our own drinks and menus from the bar. While we waited to order for over 20 minutes, the bartender was eating at the end of the bar being completely inattentive to us. Finally we decided that we were too hungry to wait and proceeded to walk to the bar (again) to order our food. Not 2 minutes after we ordered, an employee began to set up a table with food warmers. While we were waiting for chicken wings that we paid $10 for, people were walking past us with plates FULL of free wings for happy hour. We had planned on ordering food and drinks for a couple of hours since we didnt have plans until the next night, and we werent ready to go back to the hotel yet, however, we decided to pay our bill and spend our money elsewhere. So, not only did we pay for what other patrons were getting for free, we received the worst service we have ever received at an establishment that boasts great service and great food. I was more upset with the service than the food, and the "best wings in town" were nothing more than soggy wings with watered down sauce. Absolutely horrible. We went to Tillys which was a total dive but received great service. Not worth my $30

I went for lunch (11:15am) on a Wednesday. This is the first time Id gone to Ale Emporium. The atmosphere was that of a pub with the bead board walls, except for the double bank of wall-to-wall TVs. It was quiet when I got there with my companion, but business was brisk by the time we left around 12:15, though noise wasnt really a factor. I was impressed by the menu. I ordered the Cobb salad as-is, which was very good except for some tomatoes with green in the middle (almost inevitable during an Indiana winter). My companion had the fish sandwich with fries. It came exactly as ordered despite some significant customization. The fish was a bit thin compared to the breading and was not your typical whitefish flavor/texture, but still decent in flavor and texture. The fries were nice and crispy, and quite tasty. The server was prompt and solicitous without being annoying. I admit to some bias toward non-chain restaurants, which put the Ale Emporium past an overall 3.5 (which I usually round down) to a full 4 rating. I expect to eat there again and fairly regularly.

Ale Emporium is an interesting place - I could see how someone could love it or hate it and your experience there is probably dependent on either your preference for service or great food. I have had 1 or 2 bad service experiences here, but the food more than makes up for it! Even the bad experiences I have had with service here were minimal and really just related to the server not being attentive enough - but hey, if you go at a busy time its going to take awhile for your server to get back to you! The wings are delicious, the pizza is really good, and most of their other entrees and appetizers are good too. I would go here more often but it is a little pricy for bar food. One of the best perks of this place is NO KIDS - I appreciate it haha.

Best Wings anywhere (get Hermanaki Wings), and best pizza on the north side, maybe all of Indy, not counting the Foo-Foo pizza joints. This is real pizza, Indy style. (Ale Supremo). Good beer selection too. Only drawback is that Ale Emporium used to be a good secret -- now everyone knows about it -- stays packed all the time. Service is always slow. Really. Unless you sit at the bar, you will go a long time before having your order taken, a long time between beers, etc. You can count on poor service, but Im giving 5 stars anyway, because the Wings, Pizza, beer selection and atmosphere make Ale Emporium great.

OMG! All I can Say is this: "Herb-A-Nockey" Wings.....Spelled phoenetically! Great WIngs, Great Piza, Great Service. The Ale Emporium is an Iconic place, more of a destination rather! They have a myriad of places with-in to find your niche, whether its snuggled up to the bar with great service and sports or to a nice dinner with the family or freinds. Maybe on to the Gigantic open bar area that has spots for dancing, live bands and even big enough to keep going and going to find antoher bar area with in.....Place is Super Awesome and the outdoor seating area at night is very cool

Old guy at the front was very rude. They ran out of Two-hearted way too early into the night (just right after 7pm). I ordered the Muchos Nachos with the chili cheese on it and it barely had any, I honestly thought they forgot about it at first. My friend ordered the large basket of wings and they made him do 2 small baskets instead in order to charge him extra money. Im definitely not planning on going back; the entire experience was completely underwhelming. Id honestly choose BW3s over this place (which isnt saying much considering BW3s is like the Taco Bell of sports bars).

Famous for their wings and pizza! Both are fantastic! The Herman and Hermanaki wings are to die for. The pizza comes piled with a mile-high stack of cheese. The beer selection seems endless and typically the waitstaff knows everything there is to know about the beers. Everything on the menu is delicious, Ive never ordered anything I didnt like. The only issue some may come across here is it is a huge open seating bar and sometimes it takes a bit too long to get a server. But once you do you will be highly impressed and anxious to return!

Ordered a pound of boneless and some fries. Food came in reasonable amount of time, however both items were luke warm at best. I got my food comped, but they cant comp the waste of my Saturday night after work. I usually look forward to the Ale after work, but I may start going elsewhere. Update: went again tonight on July 9th. Service was poor, my server (guy with backwards grey hat) got every sauce of our order wrong and was gone so long another server got us drinks in between his visits. Seriously declined in the last few months.

Waiter pretty slow to check on us, didnt keep an eye out to new people joining the table. Pizza I ordered was "very well done" cheese & crust, but when I mentioned it was pretty well done?..she said thats how they bake it so that the cheese gets done and if I wanted to order another pizza "cooked light" it would be another 20 mins. She never checked back again and neither did the waiter. They have one interest..only keep turning those tables, to get those tips. CUSTOMER SERVICE NOT their strong point. They could do better

Hands down my favorite place to eat in town. I dont think there is one thing on the menu that tastes bad. Theres been times where the food wasnt "as good" as before but Im a reasonable person and I realize that some days wont be as good as others. They are very busy and its normal for some errors to be made. Luckily when the food is perfect, which is often for me, it makes up for the sup par days. Enough to keep this at 5 stars. The wings and pizza are easily the best in the area. Glad I found this place.
