In Fishers for the evening on Friday, saw lots of cars at the restaurant and thought we would give it a try. Big mistake. I had the Special dinner which was a sample of one beef taco, one chile relleno, one chalupa, one tamale, one enchilada and rice and beans. The food had no flavor very bland. The refried beans had a strange flavor. The chalupa (way to much lettuce and the beans ruined it) and enchilada did not have any type of cheese on top. Thank goodness the taco did. The tamale had no meat inside bland red sauce and a pile of ground beef next to it. The chile relleno wasnt to bad it did have a lot of cheese. Did not enjoy the meal. My husband had the steak tacos (2) side of beans and rice. The steak had no flavor and the pico de gallo was very disappointing. We ordered a small side of guacamole which again no flavor even the salsa was bland. I was surprised by the reviews how many people thought the food was good. They really need to go out west and try Mexican food that has amazing flavors and give your mouth a wow taste.... Side note: The guy that was our server was not very attended and didnt even come back to check on us or refill our drinks.

This is a top-notch Mexican restaurant. The decor is Mayan-themed and makes for a more unique atmosphere than your traditional strip-mall restaurant. The menu is quite extensive, including all the usual suspects (quesadillas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc), and quite a few different variations. The ingredients have always been fresh and flavorful and Ive never had an issue with my chip baskets and salsa dishes being full, even on their busiest evenings. The bar area is tucked back behind a Mayan ruin wall and they offer a pretty well-stocked bar. Their margaritas are especially delicious. They have limited patio seating that overlooks 116th St and the Nickle Plate District. The kids menu is pretty decent, but nothing unexpected. The staff are very friendly and courteous and also quick and efficient. Its not uncommon to see one server carrying 4 or 5 plates lined up against his arm. A little precarious, but always amazing to see in practice. This is my favorite local Mexican restaurant, and there are plenty around.

One thing to take into consideration, they are really new and just opened up. The atmosphere is nice but the waitstaff runs around a little too much and the hostess doesnt ever seem to know what is going on. I have been here three times so far and no matter how busy they are, (I went recently for Cinco de Mayo and they were slammed...) they always get our food out promptly. Ive had a batch of chips that were too salty before and one time they forgot about us and didnt bring us our check. But overall, its an okay place to go eat. I will go again. Their chicken chimichangas are really good and their margaritas are big and tasty. If the owner reads this, a quick word of advice: Slow down! I almost got ran over by several waiters. Also, get a little more organized. Make sure your hostess is keeping track of how many tables you have open. <--- Do that, and this place will easily get 5 stars from me. :)

This is my familys favorite local Tex Mex joint. It has a fun atmosphere and outdoor seating in the warmer months. The white cheese dip is fantastic. So are the frozen margaritas. Watch out though, they are strong! They have your typical selection of Mexican food. We like the Arroz Con Pollo and the Burrito Loco the best. They also have typical gringo fair, if you have a picky eater amongst you. They will sing to you on your birthday and give you a sombrero to wear while you finish your meal. This makes it my oldests favorite go to spot when his birthday rolls around. Some Friday nights, they also have a magician/balloon artist entertainer in the restaurant, which my kids love. It gets pretty busy on the weekends, but we find the service to always be fast and friendly. You can call in orders for takeout as well, if you dont want to wait.

Riviera Maya Mexican Restaurant had delicious food, enormous portions and is pretty affordable cuisine. You can find all of the standards here including fajitas, burritos, tacos, chimichangas and more. This is literally one of my "staple" restaurants for family and friends when they come to visit. My husband and I are also incredibly fond of splitting their double portion of steak and fajitas and then having left overs for the next few days. There is an endless supply of homemade chips and salsa (not too spicy, but there is a lot of cilantro) and even delicious desserts. There is even a live band during the weekend- so if you are looking for entertainment, they have it all. I will continue to be a faithful patron at Riviera Maya and I look forward to all of the delicious experiences to come!

Maybe Im just picky, but everything tasted like it came out of a jar or can purchased from the Target down the road. The service was quick. Our waiter was very swift and fast-paced, which was fine. He was still friendly and helpful when we needed anything. The lady at the front - the hostess - however... She started walking to a table before we were even out of the doorway. Instead of asking if we want a receipt (when we paid for our food) and smiling then saying something like have a good day... she just says, "Thank you," in an extremely annoyed, short tone. I told her to have a good day, but still no smile or welcoming tone. We wont be returning, unfortunately. We prefer El Palenque in Noblesville at Cumberland Road and Conner Street (across from Hardees and Jiffy Lube).

I moved to the Fishers area in 2011 and I have been eating at the Riviera Maya on average about six times a month for the past six years. That means that having been served there more than 400 meals, I can give a pretty fair appraisal. The food has been great from the beginning (particularly the salsa), and the service has been superb. There has been little turnover of personnel at the place in all these years, and so I guess it is good to all olf its employees as well. I know my servers by their first names and of course, they know mine as well. One time I walked to the restaurant after having car trouble, and a very kind server actually drove me home after my meal. Its my favorite restaurant anywhere.

Ive tried other so called Mexican food restaurants in and around the Indianapolis area, but none compare to Riviera Maya. Ive tried at least one meal from each section on their menu and they have all been superb. There will always be those that compare the prices of dishes that they serve compared to other places that they have visited, however the prices meet the quality. I would rather spend 2 more dollars for quality then to have paid less and leave a restaurant disappointed in the taste of the food. If you want authentic Mexican food and an authentic environment that is welcoming every time you visit, then this is the place.
