This place looks promising when you first enter. The staff are pretty friendly, and service is quick, food comes out in a timely fashion. The majority of the restaurant is totally passable, with the only real flaw being the cheap silverware and chipped plates. Theres one major flaw with this restaurant though, and its the food. God is it bad, and pricey too. Red Habaneo is a restaurant arguably better in every way, but Im going to compare the prices and quality of the two, with the dishes Ive had. You can get a Carne Asada at Red Habanero for 11.99, and the steak look nice, tender, cooked to perfection. Tastes good too, and hell, it is honestly one of the best value steaks. The Carne Asada at El Jaripeo is 12.99, and boy is it not worth it. It looks as if they pressed stale chicken, microwaved it, and called it steak. Taste is like a combination of charcoal and dry burger meat. We will not be coming back here.

Fui a comer aquí con un muchacho. La comida era demasiada picosa, aunque le dijimos al mesero NO picosa. Así lo apuntó. Además, tenía una pequeñita ramita. No se dónde ellos (los cocineros) aprendieron a hacer chilaquiles, pero no eran cómo me había acostumbrado. No entiendo cómo es que tanta gente le gusta la comida. Fuimos a el jaripeo Mexican restaurante localizado en la E. Washington St., en Indianapolis.

If I could give zero stars I would. Stopped in to order take out. $39 order. Asked for a basket of chips while my son and I waited. Wouldnt bring salsa. Got home and had 2 of the 6 tacos we ordered. Tiny bag of chips and one 6 oz salsa. Called and drove back over to get the other 6. Barely an apology. I said "thats it? No chips or anything for having to drive back over?" She said "no, sorry." Awful.

When do you order a large queso and they tell you that you have to pay 6.99 for a large queso and its a separate charge if you want chips to go with-it Umm hello when did you start charging separate for chips and dip. This place continues to decline. I havent been here in months due to the last visit to this restaurant. Attempted to try this place again wont be doing that another time.

Went there on 12/26/12 and had the nachos carbon and my girlfriend had the combo plate number 4. We both have a case of montezumas revenge today. The food tasted good and the service was great, but probably wont be going back. As a side note we both have strong stomachs and eat out at tons of restaurants so Im fairly sure we got some tainted food.

Possibly the worst place we have ever eaten at. My fiancé and I just moved up here from Bloomington. We decided to try this place out and we wish we wouldnt have. The food was cold, had no flavor, the chips were stale and overall the environment of the place was very sub par for this area. I would not recommend eating here.

HORRIBLE place....food poisoning and they have young kids in there working as well...we used to go here all the time...since someone new is running it ..the place SUCKS.customer service is awful food is always cold and the place has a sewer smell...looked up reports to health dept and lets just say we will NEVER go back...

My family loves to visit this restaurant. We have visited El Jaripeo many times over the past five years. The authentic food always tastes great and is reasonably priced. The service has always been superb. I highly recommend this place!

Excellent food, friendly staff, and a great environment. Ive also been learning spanish for years and the staff has always been great about encouraging conversation in the language if you initiate it. Wonderful place.
