Ill preface this by saying that Im a food critic. So I do keep very high standards. The food was ok. Not worth the hour drive for me to visit. The pulled pork was dry and lacked flavor and the sausage, while flavorful, was dry and dense. The chicken wings were flavorful as well but dry. Every thing we tried was over cooked as though they had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. To top it all off the service was terrible! The server couldnt recommend anything on the menu as she had not tried half of the food. They mixed up two things in my order forcing me to call it to their attention at which point they made it right but never apologized. The strengths of this restaurant is the atmosphere and decor as well as their BBQ sauces. The cocktails were also tasty but a bit light handed on the alcohol pour.

Very good food. Great Saturday special, The Jefferson for $11, $2 off regular price. 2 meats and 2 sides. Large portions. The best jalapeno corn bread. $5 for 6 muffins, most definitely worth it. We had a very good, attentive waitress. First time eating there and she was helpful with our questions. Worth the 25 minute drive from Walton to Converse. Im sure we will go back. They do take reservations, an I would recommend making one on the weekends. We went at 4:30 on a Saturday. They were just getting busy when we got there and there was people waiting for a table when we left an hour later. If you live in north central Indiana and looking for something new I would definitely recommend this place. Its family friendly and worth the drive.

The food when it arrived, was tasty. The shredded pork was flavorful, but on the dry side. The brisket was amazing: tender, moist and packed with flavor. The Arnold Palmer (rip) I had with lunch was better than average and served in a nice pint glass. The mac and cheese was great, but the green beans tasted like they were out of the can with very little bacon flavor. Service was friendly but slow, I think they were having IT issues the day I went. This restaurant was an unexpected and pleasant surprise.

Their food is excellent. Cant get enough. I drive all the way from Greenwood Indiana to come here. And when I do and a sign on the door says theyve run out of food at 7pm on a Saturday night.... I am pretty mad. It seems like theyre very high maintenance with always some sort of problem and after a while it gets annoying. They will run out of something at 11am. How is that possible? They need to take a closer look at their inventory because theyre going to start losing business if they dont.

Service was somewhat slow even though there were several empty tables and employees standing around. My salad was supposed to come with guacamole. When I asked the waitress she went to the kitchen but when she returned said they were out. I would have expected an adjustment to our bill but was charged full price. One of our party got the medium size nachos. He said they were good but not much meat. Overall a positive experience.

Great BBQ food and sides! We ordered a Mississenawa and Wabash platter, the food was enough to feed four hungry teenage boys. The side dishes were a little small but very good. The restaurant itself was very clean and there were either tall or short tables to sit at. Our server was friendly and kept the drinks full. Overall Jefferson St. BBQ is a great place to have dinner and a good time.

We have traveled around and tried BBQ restaurants in many different towns and states. We live about an hour away from this restaurant and have now gotten hooked. It is by far the number one BBQ we have been to. Excellent brisket, pulled pork, ribs, baked beans and mac&cheese. The Brisket is the best Ive ever had. We now try to get here at least one /month.

It is good, but the food is not always fresh. Sometimes my food is cold and other times only a little bit warm. I would rather them take longer to have my food hot rather than cold. It seems like they cooked it earlier in the day and then put it in a heating thing to serve.

The atmosphere is divine and the food delicious. The service is wonderful and this small town BBQ joint is worth the drive to eat. If youre driving through Converse, stop in to give this amazing place a try.

Not sure what the issue here is. Bbq is not a made to order item, it took around an hour and a half to get our food. Our table of four all got sandwiches, they were good but not at all worth waiting for.

Best bbq joint in Grant County! Probably even one of the top of not best in the Midwest! And for a great price. Be ready to wait for a seat, but dont hesitate to wait as it is WORTH IT!

Had the 3 taco special. Pork was dry and little flavor. Brisket & chicken were delicious. For the price I was expecting larger portions tho as it was not near filling for 10 bucks.
