We met some friends here for dinner. We had to make a reservation for a Sat night at a super early 5pm because they were hosting a holiday party. This restaurant is in the small town of Fortville so we were a little skeptical that this was going to be a great place. First impression from the outside is this is going to be a pretty cool modern place. Step inside and it switches to a rustic decor with a lot of bar and not a lot of seating. It turned out to be a good thing that we had our reservation early because by the time we left the place was packed and people at the bar were crowding in on the people at the tables. In regards to the food we tried the Fish Tacos, the chicken dish and the seafood special which was Sea Bass. Everyone was happy with their food and regarding the Seafood special it was very good and an exact dish that I have had at Stone Creek! What are the chances of that?! Sea Bass served on mushroom risotto with a side of steamed broccoli. It was good but not 45 dollar good. Take this with a grain of salt because the dish was about 10 dollars cheaper at Stone creek and its hard to be perfectly happy when you have had the same thing for less money. The Beer and mixed drinks were great but there was something funky with the ice water. We narrowed it down to the ice. Glasses which had cloudy ice tasted bad where the clear ice containing glasses tasted great. The waiter was super cool about it and was able to straighten it out. Unfortunately they couldnt connect with the guys filling up the glasses with the pitchers so after a half glass of good water it got refilled with bad tasting yuck! The last event that split the group was having the manager politely asking us to leave because they didnt leave enough time between reservations. The manager did offer to buy us a round of drinks to leave the table. This upset half of the party while the other half thought it was a nice and considerate offer. All and all the FoxGardin was a good experience and most of the issues are a result of their success. I think well be back but well try to find a night were they are not so busy.

Big city feel and cost in little Fortville! My wife and I decided to drop by this establishment on a Saturday evening on a whim. We were pleasantly surprised! First off, if you are wanting to dine on a weekend evening, reservations are just about a must. We were lucky enough to snag the last two open spots at the upstairs bar. Secondly, be sure to bring your checkbook as this isnt a sleepy neighborhood bar, this is upscale pub fare! The atmosphere upstairs was very dark, yet welcoming for an evening dinning out. It was nice to see a bartender that was good at his trade working the drinks and the intimate crowd. Alcohol started off around $8.00 and went up to $200+ for bottles of champagne. My wife had the fillet that was masterfully done! I had the pork chop "rib-eye" and it was very impressive! Both our dinners came with mashed/smashed potatoes and asparagus. Both sides were very tasty! We will be back soon, this time with reservation.

Arrived on a Friday about 5 with no reservation, place was much smaller than we expected but the hostess and bartender were very accomodating. I was served a tasting first, to be sure the wine ordered was to my liking. We were seated a short time later at a table in a back room with two larger parties nearby. Our waitress was very personable, the food arrived within a reasonable time and was very good. The acoustics in the whole resturant are very bad, and with two larger parties nearby having festive conversations, our experience was very unpleasent. We will not be back, unless we hear something has been added to absorb some of the noise.

The cheese soup is excellent. I liked the chewy pieces of bacon. The shrimp and oyster po boy was good but there wasnt but there. I taste any oyster and the shrimp was cut up into small pieces. It didnt even come with a side. With iced tea my lunch came to $18 and I left still hungry. Id like to try some of their regular dishes. The lunch special was a cheeseburger with chip for only $9. I wish I would have tried that but I just had a hamburger. I went back and ordered the lunch special. It was basa fish with mashed potatos. It was fantastic.

What a great, local restaurant and bar. The food was well made, very tasty, perfectly seasoned, and fresh. The environment is a perfect mix of old and new, rough and polished, trendy yet nostalgic. The menu offers a number of salads, sandwiches, steaks and more. Prices range from around $10 for sandwiches, up to $50 for filet. I really enjoyed this restaurant and expect to return for dinner. I was surprised by how busy downtown Fortville was on a Tuesday afternoon. I have a feeling this restaurant is partly responsible for that revitalization.

Okay. I might be the only one unimpressed. I had lunch here last week. I ordered the breaded tenderloin. It was excellent but about the size of a white castle slider (slight exaggeration). It cost $9 and fries was an extra $4.50. There was about 20 fries and they werent any better than McDonalds. I could have gotten chips for $2. I had tea to drink and dropped $20 with tax and tip. The service was just mediocre at best. I wont be going back.

I have been here several times and have had a great experience each time. The prime rib here is outstanding, but if you want to go with something a little bit more wallet friendly try the Kitchen Sink Burger or Fortville Tenderloin!! I cannot wait to go back and sit on the patio when it warms up. This is a pretty up and coming place so you might need to make reservations.

We ride our bikes to FoxGardin for fantastic service and quality food on charming main street in Fortville Indiana. Favorites? Mac n Cheese, fresh fish and their tenderloin sandwich! Eat on the Patio, no matter what the weather. Or enjoy the intimate indoor setting by the original bar or the tasting room upstairs.

First time experience, the server, Andrea, was perfect. Greeted us and gave us the run down of every appetizer and special drink, including the ingredients! The food was so unique and was brought out in good time! I feel like I know a lot about the restaurants beginnings and I feel welcome there now. GO THERE NOW!

Atmosphere great, gorgeous decor. Staff very friendly. Food was okay.... very over priced in my opinion. My husband and I and 2 little kids just spent $84. A grilled cheese sandwich was $13 and fries cost me an extra $4.50 and they were soggy. I was not impressed with the quality for the price.

Local favorite, we drive 20 min from Lawrence to go here regularly. Service was phenomenal! Ask for Chris. They treated me so well during my 21st birthday dinner. Food was delicious, especially the filet, pork ribeye, and chili. Downside: the menu is limited.

Great place to grab dinner and drinks with friends! Food was well prepared and did not disappoint! They were extremely busy but somehow still fit in our group of 7. Our cocktails were a little slow getting to the table, but were worth the wait.
