1/5 I use to love this place. Great food. Nice decor. Sushi isnt bad. However, the past few years theyve gone downhill. New management, maybe. The food is still good, but they have very rude girls working the front desk and taking orders. They also wont answer the phone the last hour theyre open to avoid taking carry-out orders. They also NEVER get carry-out orders correct or, to be honest, give a damn. Ive lately been debating even going there anymore. Wus Restaurant in Tinley has far surpassed Hamada. But after what was passed on me today- Ive decided to boycott Hamada. The following is quoted from a friend of my manager. She posted this on Facebook yesterday, and It absolutely needs to go viral. "Yesterday my family attempted to celebrate my nieces graduation at Hamada of Japan in Tinley Park. Unfortunately, we had the ABSOLUTE WORST experience with the owner/ manager and the waitress staff. When we arrived, we could not be seated until our entire party arrived, which is customary in many establishments, so we understood this. However, as soon as we were seated, we were rushed and only given a few minutes to order. After asking the waitress for additional time, she informed us at 8:58 that no more orders will be taken after 9:00! Of course we began to question this, then the waitress called the rude a$$ manager to our table. Trying to reason with the manager was a futile effort, as he wasnt trying to hear anything we had to say. He proceeded to speak to us in a very condescending manner and ended his remarks with Im refusing service. So now this is where the Turn Up begins. Not only were we furious, but we were in total disbelief that management would treat their customers this way. As we preceded to exit, the manager and the waitress continued to tell us they didnt care about us leaving or ever coming back, all while smirking! one of the waitresses even had the nerve to flip the bird while standing next to the rude A$$ manager and I quickly snapped a picture! I will never be a patron of this poor establishment ever again, and I hope none of you will either!" Yes. This is true. She ist over-exaggerating. Which is why I cant help but pass this on to the world. Absolutely unacceptable. The girls here always have been so rude, but I never thought they were this shallow. Seriously? Right to the customers face when theyre already at fault? I hope they go out of business. p.s. I just realized she already posted this a few comments below. Lyndell, I hope youre not upset for me posting your words! I just had to share!

Yesterday was my 44th birthday. My family and I decided to go to Hamada of Japan in Tinley Park over Signature Room. This was my second time visiting Hamada. My first experience was wonderful. I enjoyed myself and the food was great. This time was not the same. The food was good, however the service was okay. After having a good meal, and paying our bill, the waitress came to pick up the black bill folders and my husband jokingly told the waitress to be careful with his, because there was a lot of money in his booklet. The waitress went to the back and found there was nothing. She came back to the table and threw the booklet at my husband and said" here is your lot of money back"... and walked off...We were all unsure as to what she had said due to storming off. My daughter went to her and asked her what she said and she repeated it and stormed off again. After thinking about the actions of the waitress my daughter reverted to the manager for resolution. However he defended her by saying she did not have the English capability to even express herself in that manner. Basically calling her a liar. Her boyfriend went to the front and informed the manager he was offended and simply asked for an apology the manager was confrontational and disrespectful and came from behind the desk as though he was going to fight my daughters boyfriend. Luckily my husband and I were walking up and tried to discuss this with the manager again however he was very disrespectful and rude. Causing us to argue in front of many other customers. The manager then said that he was more educated than us...which had nothing to do with anything...we told him that we would not be back....he said GOOD...Dont come back!!!! After repeating that we did not want anything but an apology for the waitress throwing the bill booklet at my husband, he said she should have thrown it at you!!!! Are you kidding me?! Very disappointed in the treatment my family and I received. We live in the Naperville area and my daughter and boyfriend live in the North Loop area. We drove an hour to get to this location and was very disappointed at the way management treated us and the way they defended the wrong doing of the waitress...

The staff is very rude and impatient. One of the female managers are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!! I come here maybe 3 times every month but after my experience today I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER 50 DOLLARS IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN. I asked the manager why was there an ETRA 12$ on my bill and she told me it was bc I had a party of six, I told her we werent all together everyone was paying their own bill. If you ever visit Hamada you know that they sit you with strangers so what does it matter if your with six people or one person...other people are going to be sitting with you as well rather if you know them or not. This lady told me I should have read the menu. First of all saying that to someone is unprofessional being that you are a manager but when you speak to someone in that manner you should be prepared for what comes next. And who reads the entire menu when your at a restaurant??? No one!!! She said she couldnt do anything but call the police....I asked her were they going to take that extra money off my bill nd if not its no reason to call them. I paid my bill and as I was walking out the police was walking in...I told them exactly what I am posting and I looked at the manager and told her she was a dumb ass and next time she better tell people the bill would be a extra 12 to 20 dollars or she might get her ass beat. The police looked at me and turned back around and started laughing at her dumb ass.

Great food and service. The wait: It is best to call ahead during normal dinner times to make sure they do not have a wait. For the most part, you normally never have to wait too long anyways. The atmosphere: Great atmosphere. Most certainly the best out of all the places I have been to. The food: The portions of food you get here is top notch. You get what you paid for here. The soup and salad is nothing special (same as usual from hibachi grills). The rice is great and you sure get a lot of it. Sometimes it can have too much soy sauce, however. It comes with noodles unlike most places I have been to. They are definitely the best I have had at a jap ensemble steak house as well. The veggies (never get actually get them *double order of rice no veggies*) looks like they were the normal you get at most. The filet that I always get is amazing. The taste is great and is definitely the best out of all the Japanese steak houses I have been to. After the food: They sometimes can rush you a little bit to get your bill paid so they can seat other people. Overall: The food is amazing and the service is always great. Sometimes they can rush you, however.
