Overall, its a nice little cute place to go for lunch. Nice lunch special Buffet, a bit stingy on the orders allowed per request compared to the House of Sushi & Noodles in lincoln park, but considering its only 11 bucks, not bad at all. Onto their dinners... Before kohan expanded and added on a korean barbecue wing, it was a very nice little quaint place to go for sushi at dinner. After they expanded, however, it seems they dont know how to serve two wings of the restaurant at once and certainly dont have the man power. The host is more of a waiter than any wait-staff, and you can never find them when you want to check out and leave. Their korean barbecue menu is lacking at best, and only ONE dish out of the entire list is actually a legitimate table-top barbecue like they advertise. At least that was the last time i was there months ago. I found out the hard way by ordering another item (and no none of them are clearly labeled as table top or pre-barbecued) and got a bento box of cold pre-cooked meet and hard rice. That was my last try on their dinners. I havent gone back for more than just lunch since then and i live a block away (id still rather drive the 25 min to go elsewhere for sushi). Overall: i liked them more before they expanded to include the space next to them. it was a cuter atmosphere, more cozy, and it didnt seem too odd that the host paid more attention to the customers than the wait staff. Now, theyre trying to make it too "hip and happening" (just take a look at their decor and youll know what i mean) and simply dont have the service-training required to raise the caliber of the whole restaurant. So... go for lunch. Skip the dinner. and no its not quite ready for the business lunch/dinners quite yet. Lots of improvements are possible if they just hire more experienced staff and work on their managerial technique and overall efficiency on turning tables. plan on setting aside at least 2 hours if youre going for anything other than the buffet just due to the inefficiency and lack of observancy that hey... that table hasnt been served yet.

This is my and my friends favorite restaurant currently! Theres a lot beneath the surface! After trying the sushi, sake and California rolls Ive started experimenting with other dishes and i LOVE EVERYTHING! Desert- the deep fried apple with green tea ice cream was amazing and now Im obsessed with these ice cream balls rolled beneath favored rice cakes! Drinks- HANDS DOWN - Melon cucumber margarita ! And the wine prices are reasonable - $20-35 /bottle. Great for when my girlfriends and i want a glass of wine and a app after work. Entrees- The chicken or steak teriyaki plate is my boyfriends favorite. I like the breaded pork chops or bento boxes! The steak filet is very tender - with a little teriyaki sauce - one of our favs. Hope this is helpful to whom ever - also the W3- flaming sushi rolls - pretty cool!

My husband and I found Kohan when it was just opened. we were super impressed by the creative rolls and the personal service. The chef sent us some of the lesser known sushi delights that really opened our horizons. When we saw the new restaurant, we fell even more in love with the establishment. The sushi chefs are always fantastic and the service is always great. (and we work in the service industry). and they deliver!

They have 오삼불고기 (osam bulgogi)!!!! Thats squid and pork together on the same plate in the same marinade. You can get it ALL here and quality is really good. You can do Korean BBQ, sushi bar, hibachi, or all of it if you want. Prices are decent, service is excellent, and the place is pretty quiet too, but maybe thats a Tuesday thing.

Hands down the Best Sushi. The regular rolls are amazing, the signature rolls are amazing, the Korean bbq ribs are amazing, the lunch boxes are a great deal, the need Bulgogi is delicious, the noodles are delicious, the miso soup, even the house salad is a bit. I highly recommend Kohan!

The service, atmosphere,music and exceptional food was everything I could of hoped for. Each dish was better than the last, shrimp tempura, chicken fried rice,young dragon roll, grilled calamari. Date night was a smashing success. Im definitely coming back.

The sushi here is amaze-balls! OK its amazing, - fresh, delicious, diverse. My favorite is the Mexican roll. You must have the appetizers and mix drinks as well. Service is a bit slow at times, but taste makes up for it.

This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the area. I took my girl here last Monday and we ordered several lighter dishes. I love the seafood ramen and the tonkatsu.

Such a comfortable place with great Sushi. The dessert is ridiculously tasty. Parking is not expensive or difficult and theres a brewery next door to keep the party going!

Excellent restaurant. Best sushi near UIC. Noodles are great, one adds toppings like a pizza. Excellent Korean entrées on the menu as well.
