Well, thats an hour of my life I wont get back. First, we (party of three, myself and my young ones) asked for a booth seating; we were told that was a four-top so we got a regular table instead. We should have known two minutes later when they seated a party of two there they were full of it. We got our opening drinks, and then we ordered appetisers. People who were seated AFTER us got not only their appetisers (similar, and in two cases IDENTICAL to ours) well before we did. In fact, we didnt get our appetisers for 20 minutes and that was only because I flagged down the maitressd and brought it to her attention. Five minutes later we FINALLY got a bowl of edamame (which normally doesnt take 25 minutes to steam up). 20 Minutes later, I asked what of our entrees. Excuse -- they were busy that night. Finally, after another 10 minutes, we flagged down our waitress (who had been avoiding eye contact most of the time) and told her "Can you check on our entrees? Its SUSHI, its not like you have to cook it (yes, I know its an old Dennis Miller joke). And if theyre not ready, then cancel our order and Ill pay for what weve already had.." She came back five minutes later with the bad news. Again, she made excuses for the kitchen; they were short on staff -- but I pointe dout again that we saw loads of plates of sushi going out to tables seated up to a half hour after us. To her credit, she picked u the tab for our appetisers, the first kind gesture anybody in this place had for us. But too little too late. In a town with excellent places like Fujiyama, Japanica, Izumis .... we just dont have time for being made to feel absolutely unwelcome. We wont be back. Oh, the friend calamari appetiser wasnt bad, and the dip it came with was tasty. But Im unclear why they bothered to ask if we wanted regular or low sodium soy sauce, since neither was ever brought to our table.

I was at this restaurant recently for a dinner. I had really bad personal experience. I was served by waitress named Sammy (that was what I was told when I asked for her). I was surprised how she treated me from the very get go - as if I shouldnt be there. I just thought she may be having a bad day or something. Right after I stepped in, another group of people came and she greeted them with the warmest smile. After being seated. I asked for the menu. When I asked this waitress about a specific dish in the menu, her facial expression showed that she didnt’ even want to serve me, let along answering my question. After sensing that, I just ordered something quickly. However, when she served a family of 5 who were sitting across the table from where I was sitting, she was very warm, friendly and spent a great deal of time explaining what was in the menu. I rarely complain about these things but I felt that I should tell the hotel manager. I asked for the restaurant manager, and explained the issue. He seemed to be a bit confused and not understanding of what I was talking about. I assume it was because of a language barrier. I decided to leave it alone, and came to this blog. BTW, I am a person of color and if you are, you know when you arent welcomed, with one of those non-verbal actions.

This was simply the worst dining experience I had in my entire life. My fiance and I were driving past on our way to target and wanted to pop in real quick to have some sushi. We ordered a total of 4 sushi rolls and it took close to an hour for us to receive our food. The wait staff did not pay attention to us during this time and gave us no explanation or apology for the wait. We were getting our jackets on to leave as the food arrived. The food itself was not anything stellar and I have honestly have had better sushi from a grocery store. My "tuna" roll had the same consistency as the cheapest canned tuna instead of something cut from a tuna steak. After we had finished our food it took our server another 10-15 to notice we were even finished and to take our plates. After the dishes were taken we waited for another 10 minutes and never got our bill to leave. We eventually just left some money on the table and left. The servers noticed real quick that we were leaving though. The best part of this restaurant was the realization that I never have to go there again. Not pleased.

The sushi and options here are great, its too bad the service is possibly the worst. The first time we came here there was only one other table of two people, yet the server sat down nearby and ignored us for 10 minutes. The second time was better so we came back. It was busy due to the groupon but there were over 10 people working in front. Despite the line, families with kids sat drinking wine taking up tables for an hour while their kids ran around the tables yelling. We ordered and waited about 10 minutes for an appetizer. No salad and 20 minutes have gone by. It wasnt because they were busy as tables around us who came AFTER us were receiving their dinners and we didnt even have salad. Dinner came and it was wrong because of the blaring Top 40 music. Totally forgot the salad. By the time we got the right food it was late and tables around us that came after us were done and gone. A giant sushi boat came to people who came after us! Although the food is great, the horrible service makes this an unpleasant experience. Price is okay; dinner for two is around $30...

Atmosphere was good, but service was not too knowledgeable on their own menu. What was the worse was for the price of going to a Sushi place I expect to get actual fish, not bread crumbs...DO NOT BOTHER ORDERING ANYTHING CRAB!!! I asked for a crab stick roll and got julienne crab with more bread crumbs rolled into it than crab slivers....if the economy is hitting them that hard, give smaller portions, not crappy quality. Anything topped with "spicy crab" is also going to be more bread crumbs than crab (they mix both in with the sauce then shape it over the roll). Save yourself the disappointment and head over to Kyoto on 74th and Layton- WAY BETTER FOOD AND RICKY ROCKS HIS RESTAURANT!!! I would live there if I could. Great food and reasonable prices!

Im a HUGE sushi lover, and Im from NYC so I know what Im talking about when it comes to food. In relative Wisconsin scale, this sushi is very good, some of the best in the local area here away from downtown. The fish tastes fresh and its generally very good quality. In absolute scale compared to NYC, Id rate this place as just good, but thats actually saying quite a lot of praise. The "fancier" sushi menu options drop off in quality quite drastically though. So skip the rolls thatre fried or thatre spicy rolls or that have funky toppings, etc. Stick to the simple straight-forward pieces and rolls and youre gonna really enjoy it. Also many of the cooked non-sushi dishes like teriyakis are quite good as well.

we were seated at around 8 pm and didnt get our food until 845pm. i saw two other tables that came in after my girlfriend and i were seated get their dinners before we did. normally i wouldnt mind, but the fact that it wasnt even busy is what made me mad. the waiter didnt come and reassure us that our food was coming until a half hour later after we sat there hungry and the one of the couples who were seated next to us were already served. poor service. never going back to this place. the waiter should be happy we even left him a 2 dollor tip.
