Worst service ever and the poorest quality chicken used to cook! I visited “Cool Mirchi” with my wife on Memorial Day weekend for dinner. It was not busy and only 1 table was occupied with 6 people there. We were seated and as soon as we sat we realized that there is very intense and bad odor in the restaurant. We noticed that there was only 1 server, and he did not care to come to us and ask what we would like to eat/drink etc. Waiter was just busy with the 1 table and taking orders on the phone. We waited for 10 minutes and then waived at the waiter. He finally showed up and we asked for the water and the menus. Finally he gave us menus and water and never came back. Another 10 minutes then we waived at him and he ignored and was busy on the phone. One Lady, probably the chef herself, came from inside and took our order. We asked for tea and ordered our food. Half an hour passed nothing came on our table and they did not even care to give papad or something else to fix the situation. The waiter there was only busy with the to-go orders and no one was there to serve. In the meantime 2-3 more families came in. We noticed that it has been 45 minutes since we placed the order and the family that came after us was served the food before us. I asked my wife to leave the place and when we were about to leave the place then the same lady showed up from the kitchen and told us that our food will be ready in 5 minutes. We told her that it has been more than 1 hour sitting here and sipping water, and you guys did not care to bring even our tea. She then realized that we ordered tea also. She admitted that she forgot about tea and was cooking our food. We asked that why the people who came after us are getting food before us then she replied that these guys ordered on the phone and then came here to eat. We were like WTH, anyways get us our food. Finally, the food came and chicken pieces were the worst we ever had and so tiny and ugly that looked like scavenged chicken. We did not even eat it. I just ate 2-3 bites of my naan and then the server came with our tea. We told him that the service is horrible and you were hiding in the corner and we were just trying to make an eye contact with you to ask for our food. He was such an arrogant looser that he started talking in loud voice in his broken English that he cannot stand next to your table all the time and Indian food takes time to cook blah blah. Instead of admitting the mistake that they forgot about our tea and their service needs improvement, he was trying to dictate on us. I was like go to hell dude and left cash right on the table and left.

Came here on 9/3/2017 for dinner. The food was good, but the worst service I have ever experienced in any Indian restaurant! I wish I could give no star rating. The server took the order, delivered us 2 plain naans instead of 3 butter naans! Then we ordered 2 more butter naans to finish rest of the subji, took 20-25 minutes to deliver after asking for it several times! Our subji had gotten stone cold by the time second batch of naans arrived! When we complained about this with the server and the manager, only answer we got was "sorry, this happened because we were very busy" and blamed the kitchen staff for everything (naan situation and late delivery of naan) instead of taking a responsibility as a whole restaurant. The manager was not interested in what we say at all, he was more interested in answering phone call orders! Also, we noticed they were smiling the whole time! not sure if that was a nervous smile or sarcastic smile! We could see that the restaurant was very busy today and they were receiving calls for lot of take out orders, but that doesnt excuse our experience with the restaurant today. The server who took the order from us in the beginning never showed up again to check on us if we need anything else or even to refill water! All the staff was very busy with greeting the customers who walk in, seat them, take the order, then disappear! We saw at least one more family getting agitated by this type of service. Even after all this complain we still ended up paying for 5 butter naans! We hope they train their staff, learn customer service and skills to listen and respect the customer. Once again good food, but very disappoing service....

Visited once on a weekend for lunch buffet which was not that great for the amount charged. Rasam is good, dosa is also good n crispy, upma was also good -> overall rating of 4 Appetizers - idli is ok, onion bhajia is not cooked properly as u cud feel the sticky flour, mendu-vada was below par, sambar is ok Dishes - They had pooris which were already bit hard and crispy. Poories are always required to be served directly else if u keep them in buffet they are going to be hard. I cudnt eat them with the dishes as it was very hard to eat like a normal roti/naan. Had no other choice in terms of Naan. They had Daal-tadka which is good (though I like daal tadka bit liquid and not too dried up). paneer curry-cudnt taste it due to the poories. -> due to poories overall rating remains 3 Rice- Veg biryani tasted very good, White rice and daal tadka was good, except that white rice cud improve in terms of its softness, they also have gobhi pickle - overall rating 4.5 Dessert - they had Rass-malai which was good, Fruits, custard-didnt try, curd-rice didnt try as dont like curd. - overall rating 4 overall rating 3 due to buffet price

Earlier this place was a good option for dinner.. but today it was pathetic.. I would have given zero stars .. their service was pathetic.. the food quality was not up to the mark.. we went around 9:15 pm and they took our order for starters.. without placing the cutlery , they placed the starters..how are we supposed to eat the food without plates and spoon? we had to remind the Waiter to bring plates and spoon/forks .. then when we ordered the main course they told we need to order everything we want t order as kitchen is closing..agreed it was closing time but DUDE YOU NEED TO MENTION THAT YOU DONT HAVE SUFFICIENT FOOD AVAILABLE FOR SERVING.. instead they served us semi cooked chicken dishes.. even when we asked Waiter to bring butter roti(which we already ordered) he said we didnt order.l later he said he forgot to bring it..etc etc..even the manager was not courteous enough to accept our feedback and was behaving rudely.. overall it was a bad experience with cool mirchi and I wont be going to this restaurant any more..

In short, dont go. I have had the same experience for all the 3 times I have been here.I am usually one who explores a lot of indian food in the chicagoland area. The only good point is, you get Puris and Dosa. But the place is crap, you would never know when the puri and dosa (or whatever) got over. They refill it every 2 hours. Sometimes they ll serve you dosa on the table, when you are ready to check out. Horrible service, just one waiter for the whole place and moreover the speed of service goes exponentially worse with the no of people. If you ask for any north indian dish, including Lassi, you are at Gods mercy. Buy my words, plain water with sugar will taste much better than their lassi. All I can say is, dont go. There are too many better places than this one. If you want good south indian food, then go Udupi or Priya. You will get the best of your money, if you choose Udupi or Ebony lounge.
