The Holiday was a sad disappointment. I called them asking the quality of their hotel, if it was clean and about the restaurant, I was assured they were very clean hotel, pool, restaurant, etc. When we checked in, the White Squirrel display in a window was full of dirt, dust, cobwebs...old dead white squirrels, creepy! I love squirrels but this was way too gross! Then, I had booked a Non-smoking 2nd floor room; first, they had me booked for 2 rooms on the first floor? The check-in lady finally figured out a room (20 minutes), gave us our keys. The room was in the back (okay), however, the back was a loud and semi truck filled area which looked like a back alley instead of a nice hotel. The door she directed us to was propped open (it was hot and humid).. We went through the doorway into the hallway which had dirty carpet and there was a door opposite our hotel room with an opening to the storage area which did not have a door on it to block out or keep out any creatures human or non human. We entered the hot room which had a musty smell as we walked in...looked around, old but okay. We were not comfortable with being next to an open area unsecured along with the back door opened so we went back to the desk and asked if we could be moved to a more secure room. We were then put on the 2nd floor which we accessed from the side of the building. Again, it looked like the back of a warehouse, junk, cars parked any which way, dirty, etc. We went up the concrete stairs onto the walkway which was covered with torn, dirty once green outdoor carpet, you could smell the dirt. Our room was not the cleanest but the sheets and towels were clean. The room had a dank smell, we turned on the air conditioning unit, there was a horrid odor, I sprayed perfume into the unit to make it tolerable. We left to find a place to have dinner, at this time, we didnt want to try their food because of the smells that we encountered. When we got back to our room, it smelled like cigarette smoke because people next to us, below us, and all around were smoking. All during the night I woke up smelling the smoke. By morning, I was sick from the smell. So needless to say, this was like being a horror movie! I particular but can tolerate anything if is clean, this place was not clean or close to clean...where is the health department??? Dont stay here until they overhaul and clean it up. By the way, I had 3 other families traveling with us also stay at this place, how embarrassing! So, The Holiday in Olney gets an F for everything...if ever again we are in the area, we will travel to Flora (20 miles away) and stay at the Best Western which was immaculate, good free breakfast and again, CLEAN!!!

After reading other reviews, I wasnt expecting too much, but I was pleasantly surprised for the most part. The hotel has finished their remodel and they did a decent job. Rooms look recarpeted, repainted and have newer furniture. Every room also have a nice flat screen hdtv with about 60 channels and 25 music channels. While the bathroom tiling looks outdated and a little worse for wear, the shower had a massaging head with plenty of water pressure. The only qualms I had with the room were the hilarious view and the bed itself. The view from our room included a pile of bricks with a flipped over circular table on top, a stack of metal rods and two broken down vws. The king sized bed was very firm and the pillows werent any better. The best part of The Holiday was the restaurant downstairs. Breakfasts were fantastic as everything was homemade and inexpensive. Check out the biscuits and gravy, french toast, omelettes and chicken noodle soup. Overall the Holiday is fairly average but throw in a great place to eat and it gets four stars from me!

I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. If you do stay, get an outside room so you can at least get some fresh air and see the sun. We had a decent bed the first time we stayed, but on our second visit we tried three rooms and all had mattresses so old and worn that I sank right down to the foundation. It was like trying to sleep on a marshmallow. Extra furniture in the rooms is hit-or-miss. Some have a recliner and a desk; others have only a straight-back chair. The only good thing about the rooms is that they have flat-screen TVs so, if you bring your own DVD player, you can watch movies (theres no HBO). The food in the restaurant is palatable, but nothing great. The floor of the swimming pool is so filthy that I would not use it even if I were wearing water shoes. The next time we have to stay in the Olney area, were staying at the Super 8 down the street. We wised up and checked out their rooms beforehand, and were amazed at how nice they were - for a lot less than the Holiday charges.

I usually never take time to do reviews. But we stayed here when attending a wedding and there were fleas in our room. We didnt notice them until the morning because we got in at midnight. Next morning had bites and there were so many that I was able to capture some on scotch tape (one from my kids leg) and showed the desk clerk. She refunded my money and I thought that was the end of it. Went to my parents and started the sanitization process. However, they had the audacity to tell my other family members that we brought the fleas into the room. They were upset that our family was cancelling, but what would you expect? No one wants to risk getting fleas because they dont run a clean establishment. I wouldnt have bothered posting this, but they obviously wont own the problem and the next traveler should beware.

Best Night Sleep in a LONG time! I actually asked the manager where they got their new mattresses...they are so comfortable...not too hard and not too soft! Our room was very nice, it was by the pool area. They have a water aerobics class which is a nice thing for the local area. We stayed 3 nights and ate in the restaurant each morning and evening. For a small town the restaurant has the caliber of food we find in some of the finer restaurants in the St. Louis area. We were really impressed!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay...we were treated very warmly and everyone was so friendly! It is such a pleasure to find such a nice place to stay in some of the smaller communities.

Stayed at the holiday this weekend only due to the fact it had a pool. The inside of the room was fairly clean but definitely showed its age (most things need to be updated). Requested a late check out due to business in town and was told that was fine (just needed to talk to the front desk morning of) went to the front desk and was told that I could not have a late check out. The owner/management said "we are too busy to allow a late check out" I have business in town for the next 6-7 months and will definitely be staying at the super 8 down the street. Pool wasnt all that anyway.
