This place is crap. I saw a hot-wing offer on the banner outside and stopped in with my fiance for a quck bite. Banner read WINGS $0.25 ea. I wanted to order a dozen wings, I was figuring $3.00. Sounds like a great deal, right...!? The gal at the bar says I needed to order 15 wings minimum, so I do... that would make it $4.50, no problem. We order a soft drink, a water and a chili-dog to share as well. When the check comes the I notice we were charged $12.00 for the wings! I questioned the bill and was told that that deal is only good on Thursdays. I pointed the sign out to her. It read "... every day till 10 p.m." She then goes back inside and returns with a B.S. excuse. "That price is only good if you order boneless wings ", she replied. A decent place would inform you of any specials and ask if youd like what they were offering. I bet they skin a lot of people into paying more than what they expected this way. For a measley $7 or $8 bucks they lost a twenty year customer. I was ticked off but I didnt sound off. I just bit my tongue because Im a decent guy. I vow to never spend another penny at Penny Road Pub ever again. P.S. If they would have even apologized for the error it wouldnt have been so bad, ... a bill adjustment wouldve been fairer and better. Theydve kept a customer happy and feeling as if they hadnt been conned. Who knows, if I wouldve had a few drinks in me I probably might not have even noticed. Watch your back in this place folks and take a good look at your bill.

Attended the Rings Of Saturn show tonight and... well.. This place has no business booking metal shows. Ive heard about the abusive behavior of the security staff in the past and the lack of care from the management.. Though I did not witness any physical abusive behavior from the staff tonight, the crowd stood like statues in fear of being ejected or having the show shut down for having fun. It was boring and painful to stand their and watch these bands play without having the ability to move around a little. Even the bands made comments and jokes about the constraints on the crowd. Management seems to have no education or understanding of the culture of this music scene yet for some reason, they consistently book these type of bands. Besides my rant here, the space is small, hot and humid with no ventilation. The sound is inadequate for bands of this caliber. I am grateful that bands that I enjoy were able to play in my hometown but this place as a venue is beyond terrible. I dont see myself going back for another show no matter who is on the bill. This is just no place for metal/aggressive music. Hopefully the promoter will realize this one day.

My wife and I went there fri may 30 2015. They had three bands playing.The place was pretty busy. The customers in the seating area were not getting served. So I went up to the bar,and there were only two bartenders/waitresses working. I had to wait 10 min to get servied. I just ordered a 1/2 lb burger with fries. Not hard. I went back up to the bar to get my food after 10 min and it wasnt ready. Ok. So about (2 songs) 10 min latter the waitress brought me my food. The food was hot, but I did not order sweet potato fries and thats what I got. The burger was over cook and tasted like a frozen burger. No other person was ordering food. I should have not.

I grew up in Carpentersville so Penny Road was always a stop for me and my friends once we turned 21,im at 55yrs of age. I live in Johnsburg, tonight I went with a friend from work to see the Eagles tribute band. The band was good the food that we ordered was also good. Im not a big Beer Drinker usually a whiskey man and I can tell you that shot of JD I had tonight definitely tasted like it was watered down. JD Black Label definitely should not taste like that shot tasted tonight. That was just my observation for tonight an thats the only liquor I had. If Im going to pay for a $6 shot next time I will just order one beer.

If I could give this place zero stars, I most certainly would. After my girlfriend being called a "hussie" by security for NO reason, i told the bouncer to "Pretend to be a Gentleman" to which he responded "Get the F@#% out, you little worm!" The drinks are weak, and when we called management to discuss the incident, there no only was no sympathy for my girlfriend being a victim such childish behavior. Not even an apology. If you like good music, and helpful and respectful staff...go ANYWHERE but Penny Road Pub.

The bouncers are rude and abusive. I would not even consider them bouncers. I witnessed a full on brawl of all the bouncers beating the living hell out of a poor drunk kid who was already being escorted off the property by his friends. Rediculous. I would go as far as to say that these people will never get another cent of my money, or anybody elses that I know personally.

Security staff consistently intoxicated, either on alcohol or power. Beats up on kids. Owner is also just as bad. There are better places to play shows in Chicagoland. Please do not play here if you want a safe, fun environment with professional individuals looking over you.

Great little stand-alone bar off the beaten path. Beer prices are incredibly cheap and selection is fairly extensive. Service was a bit slow, but it was a Saturday afternoon and it wasnt too busy. A biker bar in the summer with live bands and entertainment.

horrible. only attend a show here if you wanna get roughed up for enjoying the music. these guys even beat up bands that play there.Not to mention they drink on the job and the owner couldnt care less. do NOT give them your money

FANTASTIC SPOT! Great food, decent drink prices, server and bartenders were all really sweet. went there to check out a local band, found out they have live music every weekend and the best part.... they are open till 4AM

Security beats on kids and even high-school aged girls with zero provocation. (I witnessed this with my own eyes.) Unless youre looking for a black eye, I would avoid this venue/pub at all costs.

This is one of the few places you can see live music. It has 2 stages and local musicians and bands can perform and get experience and feedback on their work. Love the diverse crowd.

Great place for a burger or pizza and very easy parking for cars or Motorcycles. Late night 4 am licence to serve liquor. Decent selection of Craft Brewers and wine

I thought the bartender was trying to skate with my $10 change due me. She walked away for a long time. No good reason , you should get your change immediately.
