If you would like to get disrespected by the checkout girls and the general manager not smile or acknowledge you are there as a customer then this is the place for you to go. I was at there Niles location about a week ago and placed a order for a couple of things including a bread basket with out butter. Once I picked up the food I doubled checked the bread basket to make sure there was no butter margarine or oil on the bread basket as Ive had problems before with them putting that on there. Surely enough they messed up again and I told the lady who rung me out about the mishap. She started looking into her computer as she thought I was lying to her and I even showed her my receipt that said no butter, margine, oil. In return she started to blame me and told me I shouldve been more stern and told them more than once I didnt want that on there, I told the person I gave my order to 3 times how I want my bread basket done and she still messed up. Next time Ill go in the kitchen and make the stuff myself she had no professionalism and wanted to blame me on there screw up, this isnt the first or second time it has happened to me where they screw up my order. And the general manager or the manager that works at niles location is so un happy, never smiles at anyone and has a very nasty look on his face that makes the grinch look nice. And again its the same thing like the food Ive been there multiple of times and every time he is there he has no personality and is rude. I stopped going to this restaurant for a long time until last week hoping it wouldve changed but NOPE its still the same way it has been. I have been going to tava in Morton grove and will continue to give them my business.

I have been going to Himalayan since its been open. My father knew Sudhir the owner who was always generous and had amazing hospitality. I was a kid when I started going there. But its ridiculous now, the waitresses do not smile, they serve warm water and are casually asking for a tip, yes I am speaking about the woman who is in her late 30s or early 40s. And when we asked if she can bring us water WITH ice she brought us a glass with ice in it ans said here you go. We received bad service from her and voiced it out to her and she had the audacity to ask for a tip and said oh you forgot put the tip. She disregarded the note I put for her. I called 2 oclock, half hour before they closed lunch time. I was on my lunch break and was ordering food, and I guess this was another lady employee she said, "sorry kitchen is closed." I was appalled, you have thirty minutes to have the food ready, I understand if its fifteen minutes before and what not but I called the next day same time because I am always given a lunch at two pm. She puts on a hold for 10 minutes and then picks up and says, "We cannot take lunch orders kitchen is about to close." You people have no shame nor do you respect the people that paying to get your food. Your food is good thats what the one star is for but you lose 4 stars for the ridiculousness. Bus boys are really nice I do not knkow the older mans name but Brian used to work there and was very kind and professional.

I feel very sorry to leave this review for this restaurant but the way they have treated a customer who has given them business every week for the last 3 years is extremely poor. I will never ever be going to this place again as they dont know how to respect and treat regular customers. I asked for extra side of sauce ( yes you read it right just sauce) and was even willing to pay extra for it as well and was deceived and and refused on 3 different occasions and ill treated. First couple of times i was told by the staff thai its been added it to my take out order, when i reached home i checked and discovered i was lied to. Second and third time they flat out refused to give it to me. The manager stated the are not allowed to give anything extra, despite knowing that i am a regular patron of this place for over 3 years and have been ordering the same thing for years now without any issue. Suddenly 1 day this restaurant decides not to care about regular customers. I will quote the server word for word here " Well i cannot do anything for you. Its about supply, we just cannot hand out sauce with your dish even if you pay extra. Its the managements decision. I will have to part with one of my most favorite dishes just because im just a customer for whom this restaurant doesnt care much. I will never go here again. V V V poor.

Went there for lunch buffet with my family. Food okay and spice level was good, a decent variety for buffet item choices. But you will face the most arrogant waitresses here. I have never faced this bad experience anywhere in the Chicago area. She was so rude that, she turned away the face when i mentioned that water wasnt served, never came to our table. Never bothered table service at all. I had my small kid with me, they never bothered to get water for her. Finally, they kept me waiting for the bill and had to walk to over to the counter for the bill and the arrogant (@!#!@#!@#) lady didnt bother to look at my face and kind of dropped the bill in front of me... I really didnt know how I controlled by overall anger. For the first time ever, had to write "get lost" in the tips section on the receipt. Terrible... I would have give a zero rating it had. I just skimmed through the review and have seen similar comments on the waitresses service levels, so i think mine is not a one off case. To the owner: You might have customers now, but if you dont fix the basics, you will not survive for long.

I first visited this place many years ago and was impressed with the Nepali food that was served; the second visit was also good. I think the owners have changed since my first visit, because this place has been a great disappointment the last few times I have gone there. The food on subsequent visits was the same as any other Indian restaurant and not particularly great or special. The last time was the worst, and I will never visit there again nor recommend this place to anyone. We ordered medium spicy for the daal makhani and the malai kofta, and it tasted as if the cook had only put in chilli powder/paste and no other spice at all. The malai kofta especially tasted like it didnt even have salt and seemed undercooked. Awful! The rice (peas pulao) and naan were ordinary and nothing special. Also, for dinner prices (and meal), the portions were more like lunch size; I even asked the server to confirm and couldnt believe it when she responded that it was indeed the dinner portion! :-(

I shared my experience in Yelp but somehow it is not visible to anyone but me.. This is pseudo-Indian restaurant, and everything pretty much tastes half-heatedly done. I have been here twice (wonder why map showed Bombay restaurant and took me to this place once), and needless to say quality of almost everything in the buffet was consistently down. Except the naan... Even the Nepali dishes (one or two since the owner in Nepali) were a disappointment. Probably the only Indian restaurant (as it claims) I ever went to where all non-veg curry items are a big let-down. Oh, and the cold-shoulder (or read callous) attitude of waiters make it a complete picture. One star for the presentable appearance.... Dont buy my words, but definitely dont from majority who found this place irresistible and commented anonymously under "A Google User". Try it, then provide an honest response for others to benefit from.
