All the over-used tropes apply here, a treasure, hidden gem, etc. A perfect, thought-out menu served by what I consider classic European/French service. That is, the only rush you will experience is the desire to return. The prix-fix or seasonal special is always a good choice. Honestly, the fact that the owners personally reply to their Yahoo! reservation "system" is reason enough to dine here.

I must say I felt dined like a King. It was a good experience good food and a good price for what it was. The Ratatoullie stuffed crepe was on point, the Toasted Croque Monsieur was tastfully delightful and the Mango cheesecake was heavenly delicate. I really cannot speak enough praise to the cheesecake. It was a good meal and experience I would come back.

I was quite impressed. The location is fooling for sure. I was slightly disappointed with the special salad part but that was ordered without prior knowledge of what is was. I really like their Prix Fix you can get 3 courses for $25. The dessert topped the whole meal off definitely. I got the mango cheesecake and it delivered. Definitely worth a try.

Pleasantly surprised! Limited but unique menu. Salads are great. Service was awesome, they helped us set up a high chair for our newborn and one of the waiters even helped us put on out coats as we were leaving. We got to meet the manager and we got free desert the first time we stopped here. Overall a bit pricey.

my wife and i were in the woodfield area and decided to try Retro because we had been there years ago. This place continues to be one of the better restaurants in the suburbs. Great value on food and wine unique choices. the pre-fixe is the way to go. Not your typical chain joint, very special. Highly recommend.

The best food I have had in Chicago . Delicious sauces, crab cake with CRAB (not breadcrumbs and oil) and the sauce just out of this world. Steak tartare was so good my husband was awestruck, something that doesnt happen very often. Thank you for such great cuisine ! Astra Miller Oct 30th, 2015

This is my second time there, and they have fantastic service. I was just there for my birthday and they made me feel special, Angela was a wonderful waitreas. Also, the owner came by our table several times and treated us with a glass of wine and desert on the house. Their food was delicious as well!

My favorite restaurant, Im always astounded at the incredible flavors its chefs tease out of its dishes. Ive eaten at Retro Bistro at least 50 times over the last 10 years and it never disappoints. And the service there is excellent. If I was rich, Id eat at Retro Bistro at every meal! Yum!!!!

I was here Valentines day weekend, the server was very friendly, i am not from the area so she was helpful in giving directions to near by attractions. The decor was nice but slightly outdated. The french onion soup was excellent but the rest of the meal was just ok.

One of the best dining experiences Ive ever had. Not only is the food First Rate but the owner and wait staff go out of their way to make you feel like family. Everybody is unbelievably accommodating without being pushy. Wonderful food and a cozy friendly environment.

This is a hidden gem. Had the most delicious dinner there last night. Started with the yummy wild mushroom ravioli, then moved on to the most wonderful avocado cerviche. Ended the evening with the homemade apple strudel. My mouth is watering thinking about it.

We got a gift certificate and used it for our anniversary. The french food at this intimate cafe is absolutely superb and the service was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the three course special. We wish we could get to eat there more often.

We went here at least once a month and loved it. Good for well-behaved children as well as for romantic couples. GREAT food and service. We moved away from the Chicago area a couple months ago and its one of the restaurants I miss dearly.

This place is as horrible as it can get...the food is terrible and expensive..i saw the owner of this place picking his nose, and scratching his butt in the back...hopefully he s not touching the food..that was my first and the last time..

Fantastic place! A hidden gem in Mt. Prospect. Wonderful French cuisine in a casual dinning atmosphere. We enjoyed the potato leek soup, the Copper River Salmon and the poached chicken. All fantastic. Cant wait to come back.
