I have numerous complaints about this place. This is not what I would consider sushi. Please dont even bother with anything tempura... it seems their cooking oil is the same french frying liquid they use for onion rings. My GF and I tried the fried shrimp and lobster rolls to start.. the rolls, which the menu said were lightly fried, were DRIPPING oil all over the place. When a waitress walked by to take the plate she asked with a confused look on her face "you didnt like them?" and walked away before I could even answer. The shrimp could have been good but the dipping sauce must be there to mask the taste of the bread batter. I wouldnt recommend this either. and for the record, there is nobody of even remotely Asian decent that works at this place, so for that reason alone, i wouldnt trust it. Our waitress asked us if we wanted Wasabi and Ginger with our sushi... umm, hello? Isnt that standard? Now to the Sushi... The Yellowtail roll, fresh and good, actually tasted like sushi. We asked to have a 2nd roll of this after we gave back a roll that I cant remember what was named but tasted like it had a lemon squeezed on top of it with a pine nut. Las Vegas roll.... deep fried goodness.. i have no clue what the creamy crab stuff on the top is but it ended up in a huge pile on my plate. The crunchy spicy tuna roll... if you enjoy a ball of deep fried rice with a tuna mush on top, this is your roll. Also very disgusting. Thank god we went during happy hour and got 1/2 price rolls and appetizers. I will not come back again.

everything here is just ok. the service is mediocre. and very loud atmosphere. the last time i went there it was the worst experience i ever had in a restaurant. i ordered my usual and for the first time i requested for it to be carry out because i had set plans. i ordered through the phone (i spoke to the manager) and i never received a total at the end of my call. i was told it would be ready in twenty minutes. i got there on time and asked my boyfriend to pick it up and i gave him my money. he didnt know how much it was because i didnt either. he came back with my order and apparently you dont get the half price special if you get it to go. which i didnt know. so i got charged full price and of the things i ordered it came out to be $50! i realized what happened i called from my cell and i spoke to the person who did my order and he said the special only applies if its eaten inside the restaurant, which was never stated anywhere on the menu or on their flyers for the half priced special, which was what I ordered. the manager was rude and actually told me "too bad you should have asked." HOW RUDE! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF THE RULES ARENT STATED?! myself and my friends were long time customers of RA but none of us have been back since. i am writing this review now and i hope people read it before they make the same mistake that i did.

Completely unprofessional. Its hit or miss depending on who is serving you. One of the managers is very attentive. The more overweight bald manager takes no pride in servicing the customers, and will look at you directly as your walking out and not say anything to you. The chefs do an amazing job at preparing the food. So if you dont mind hit or miss service, then sit down and enjoy some food. Its always been my thought that whoever is serving you should need to earn their tip by offering you a good experience. I had to ask a waitress for my change back after paying. Then, having her challenge me telling me my change was only "a couple dollars", I kindly corrected her with the exact amount I was suppose to receive back, she told me she had no other change on her. So I had sent her away to get her manager, and magically she came back with the rest of what I was owed. (If anybody would like to know who the waitress was, she is a very dull looking Caucasian girl with a nice big tattoo on her forearm.) The food is good, but do NOT expect good service.

After some of the great places downtown Chicago, or having tried sushi in all parts of the country this is only "OK" by comparison. The rolls are competent, the quality is better than average and the sushi is fresh. They upscale the amenities like the traditional salad with ginger dressing by having fancy mixed greens (think Arugula, Mesclun, Frisee, etc) and the more obscure hand rolls, salmon skin options, etc. My choices were a combination of the more traditional rolls: spicy tuna, california etc and the special rolls: Gojira, tootsy maki. The traditional rolls were surprisingly large and plenty filling (nice!) with decent flavor. The special rolls were only OK and with the price premium were not worth it from a value standpoint. I thought they were smaller than the normal rolls and lacked the fancy presentation other sushi places have for their special rolls. At almost 2x the cost I would stick with the traditional rolls moreso. Overall the cost for 5 rolls, 2 salads, 2 green teas was $70 without tip. A bit higher than I would have expected.

My fiance and I sat there for about a 30 minute meal. The food was great and our server Christina was sweet as can be. One problem was that both tables on either side of me were unoccupied and not clean. Leftovers and half eaten parts of food empty glasses of beer during my entire meal. Not a sight you want to see whole youre eating; a strangers leftovers. And mind you they were not busy. It was around 2 o clock on a Sunday with 4 tables eating. There was one male who kept checking in on his single table from the back of the restraunt- like thats comfortable. The manager came out to check on with a table of 40+ year old patrons but neglected to check with us because we were under 30. Not a good experience. Especially for a place that says "proper dress required" on their front door. How about proper dining etiquette and presentation? Thank you Christina for providing great service in an environment working against you.

I went last night with my best friend on her suggestion. It was relatively busy on a Saturday night after 10 but not packed, which was nice. They offer outdoor seating which is lovely. The atmosphere inside was very cool. Our waitress came over right away. She was very friendly and helpful even when we ordered a million things to share. The food was awesome. Honestly the best sushi Ive had, and for an unbeatable price. For what we bought there we would have spent a hundred or more at some over-the-top upscale sushi place downtown. This place gives you that chic atmosphere, with high quality food and service for the right price. I was so happy with my experience I wanted to leave a review (which is a rare occurance for me) and I was shocked by all these negative reviews. You cant please everyone, I guess! If youre in the mood for sushi, dont let those naysayers deter you from trying this great place out.
