We have been going here fairly often since we moved into the area 6 years ago. This place has hands down THE BEST pancakes Ive ever had. Anybody who visits and stays with us asks to go here for breakfast in the morning. Everybody loves it! The staff are friendly and the whole place has a "small town" vibe that feels really comfortable. Occasionally I will get a waitress that is a bit forgetful...but never we are never neglected. The kids meal prices are better than anywhere else, and the portions are huge!

The last two times my family and I went here we have gotten bad service and bad food. I ordered the "salisbury steak" and got meatloaf instead when I mentioned it to the waitress she said it was the salisbury steak. My wifes veal parmigiana also tasted terrible. The waitress also walked by our table about 15 times without refilling our empty drinks, and we were the only people there at the time.

i only gave it 4 stars bc im not a fan of the betty boop knick knacks everywhere and the outside looks a lil run down but its clean, the food and soup was great and u get plenty for the money. they have all u can eat specials like bbq riblets...never seen meat fall off the bone so cleanly, it was perfect. service was nice and speed was good. the food tasted very fresh and impressed me.

The staff was very unprofessional. Our waitress was very loud and obnoxious talking to her coworker and very unprofessional. This was a very bad dinner! I wish I knew the waitresss name. It was horrible will never go back here again! I ordered the meatloaf dinner and it was awful it was ice cold. Very upset customer.

Quite honestly I dont know how this place is open. It smells weird, always bugs and flies around and there food is so cheaply made. I went there 2 times and never again. Wauconda cafe down the street is delicious and good quality food. Dont waste your time or money at Island Lake Cafe.

The bacon cheese burgers are the best and the tasty gyros delicious. My friend Tom S. Took me to this place five years ago. And we still go to eat in our favor place Island Lake Cafe. He knows That I love Betty Boop this is our kind of place and the people so friendly.

My husband and I tried this place out a few saturdays ago and have gone back twice since. Our food was amazing, but our server was even better. She was very attentive and made sure our first time experience was amazing! Thank you and see you tomorrow for your amazing soup!

Pretty good food. Biscuits and gravy were a little too oniony and the service was slow despite the empty restaurant. I enjoyed the food overall but the server never gave me silverware and I had to go to another table to get some even though I mentioned I had none.

The beef stroganoff and lasagna are delicious. My wife likes their broasted chicken. Always friendly service. And I find the prices are great. The Betty Boop stuff just makes the place unique. Im not sure why someone would judge the restaurant based on that.

Service was friendly and attentive without being obnoxious. Ordered the #3 breakfast meal with French toast, sausage, and over easy eggs and all came out well. Quiet with light pop music playing from the radio. The decor is a bit kitschy.
