Last week I was at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, after our day there, we tried out Silver Dollar Restaurant. I have to say, our entire experience was fantastic. A friendly hello when we entered was followed by great service from our waiter. Now let me tell you about the food. I had some pancakes that were soft and fluffy. The Corn Beef Hash was recommended by the waiter, and I have to say, it was the best plate of corn beef hash I have ever had. We ordered a second plate for the table! Very clean, very fast, very affordable. Thats means Ill be back very soon!

Went to have a late breakfast about 11. Ordered skirt steak and eggs with an optional side of biscuits and gravy. Prob #1- out of skirt steak. Would u like ny strip? Fine. Prob#2- at first glance couldnt tell if it was beef or pork. Prob#3- thinly sliced with a 3/4 inch of fat on it. Prob#4- it was tough, obviously not a quality grade. Prob#5- had to cut the biscuits with the steak knife, tried with the fork but was not successful. Very disappointed. Not revisiting.

Walked in, two waitresses on and no one in the restaurant. Both tables large enough for our party were dirty - with the table set. Basically, didnt wipe the tables down and hoped people wouldnt say anything. When I asked to have the table wiped down, they acted as if it below them to do their job, rolled their eyes, huffy. We had to get our own menus, ordered and when the food came - hair in my french fries. Id give this place a 0 star rating if I could.

I ordered a fruit plate with pears, peaches, pineapples, and pepperoncini on cottage cheese. Who puts sport peppers on a fruit salad? They held the peppers at my request. I was disappointed when I received peaches and melon slices. The menu didnt mention melon slices, which was mainly what I received. I was sold on the pears and pineapple slices, so melon slices didnt really cut it.

Went for a funeral luncheon. The waitresses were less than willing to accommodate the few stragglers that came a few minutes later than the rest of the party. There wasnt enough seats and we had to, literally, go in the back of the banquet hall and grab our own tables and chairs. It made for a very awkward situation in an already grim time.

After visiting Abraham Lincoln national cemetery we were refereded to silver dollars restaurant. They accommodated our family of 15 quickly with great service. We were all pleased with the food. I recommend anybody to stop in for the fast and friendly service and great food.

Ill go here after a hike at the Midewin National Tall Grass Prairie. Its a good place to restore your carbs with good breakfast food. Id like to call it a greasy spoon (not an insult in my vocab), but its not. The place is very clean.

One special tonight was Broiled Walleye. It was done perfect. Great salad as a starter and very tasty cottage fries as my side. Nicole was my server and she was very attentive and courteous ... Great place to dine!

I order a milkshake. Waitress scowls, "Its gonna be a while." It was a pretty crappy shake once it got to me. Burger was okay. Dont order it medium rare though, or else youll get another scowl.
