There were positives and negatives of our experience at Honey Jam in Downers Grove. We went on a Sunday morning at 9:30am, so it was PACKED! We were told there was a 20-25 minute wait for the 4 of us. We only waited 10 minutes. So, that was great. The menus had some very interesting items on them. In fact, I had a hard time deciding. The prices were comparable to other places. However, the kids menu prices were GREAT! Nothing on the breakfast menu was more than $3.95. My daughters had "the junior" - 1 egg any style, 1 piece of bacon or sausage, and 2 mini pancakes with a beverage. I was a little surprised only 1 piece of bacon or sausage (most places give 2), but my girls wouldnt eat 2 pieces anyway. They cleaned their plates and they NEVER clean their plates. My husband had the "crazy monkey" and said it was delicious. I had 2 eggs any style (mine were egg whites as I requested), canadian bacon, toast, and has browns. It was good. My meal cost $8.25 (extra for canadian bacon and egg whites). I thought it was a little pricey. The service wasnt great. We had to ask twice for place settings for my children. We were only offered a refill on our coffee one time - we had to ask for a 2nd refill. The cream was brought to us in a tiny bowl (not already on the table) and there were only 4 containers. Now, my husband and I like a lot of cream, so we had to ask for more, which took a while to get. Also, there was only the choice of half & half. I prefer sugar free or International Delight flavored cream. I cant understand why a place specializing in breakfast doesnt offer more in that field and leave it on the table so we dont have to ask for more. Also, with my breakfast, I had to ASK for jelly for my toast. Again, why is it not already on the table? And, our server brought me one container for two pieces of toast. Then, when our food was brought out to us, the boy who brought it (not our server) asked if he could get us anything else. My girls finished their juices ahead of time. I asked if they could have more. He said yes and never came back with them. So, we had to ask our server a few minutes later for more juice. The server informed us that refills arent free. WHAT?!?!? What kind of "breakfast" place doesnt give free refills at least on kids drinks? I was appreciative that our server informed us of this, but found this to be VERY odd. Finally, when we were finishing up, our server brought us our check without even asking if we wanted anything else. We didnt even ask him for our check. He literally just brought it to us. I know they were extremely busy, but what if we wanted something else? It couldnt have been more obvious that they were ushering us out the door as quickly as possible to accommodate the other waiting guests. I have to say, I think the restaurant really needs to work out some kinks. Maybe my comments are menial, but I think these are simple things that breakfast establishment should have down pat. To be honest, I could live without going there again.

My family and I were in town for a wedding, and this place came recommended. When my boyfriend and I went he ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffle of course was the traditional Belgium waffle (hard to screw that up), but for the chicken portion instead of a nice piece of fried chicken it came with 2 pressed chicken tenders which appeared to come from the frozen department at the grocery store. This was a little disappointing, but the even larger disappointment came out of the kitchen in the form of "biscuits and gravy". And I use the quotation marks because I dont believe that anyone could actually call this biscuits and gravy. There were indeed biscuits, but the sauce on top of them was definitely not sausage gravy. Traditionally sausage gravy is made with a white roux sauce, this was straight up thanksgiving diner gravy with chunks of sausage in it. Since I dont typically like to eat straight brown gravy, I could only have 1 biscuit (it comes with 4) before I resolved myself to just eating the eggs, which were also included. Then I tried the eggs and found that the some of the whites of the sunny side up eggs were still entirely raw.. Salmonella is not fun at a wedding, so I decided to eat the only edible thing on my plate, the hash browns. So basically I paid almost $10 for hash browns and a plate full of inedible disappointment. If you go, make sure you order something simple, like a bowl of fruit.

We where a party of four..... 30 min. wait which is understandable they where busy.... We where seated within the time promised.... Server greeted us after 5 min wait .... Ordered our breakfast Waited 12 min for food to arrive.... My wife had the steak skillet hash browns dry the steak was thin sliced beef not what you would expect for a steak skillet My friend ordered ribeye medium cooked medium hash browns dry and overcooked His wife ordered a feta omelette which was feta thrown on top not cooked in I ordered a chorizo and cheese skillet the hash browns over cooked and eggs over done for over easy When the runner dropped our food off he DROPPED the food on table not placed on table Also they forgot our toast we have to find our waitress about 5-6 min Never was asked if we where enjoying our breakfast ..... For a place that is a higher end breakfast place quality should be top end .... Been there many times ....this has been a disappointment... Ive been in the food industry for fifty years and I think the Portillo family should take a closer look on what is going on ... Sorry for my review maybe if they nip it in the bud now it will not get worst ...

Our party of three really enjoyed breakfast on a Thursday at 10 am. It was busy, but plenty of room and very family-oriented. Exceptionally helpful and courteous staff. I ordered a skillet featuring ham, eggs, turkey and potatoes with a tasty hollandaise sauce nestled in a separate little cup on the side. Gotta mention the turkey! Real turkey! Not that rubbery fake stuff found elsewhere. Mmmm. The skillet was about $9.95 and it was plenty of food. I assure you that if this is your mid-morning breakfast, lunch wont be necessary! A very nice "comfort food" on a chilly day. Love the fact that theres plenty of easy- access parking in the back. Highly recommended! Enjoy!

The best breakfast and lunch place around! Looking for a delicious, affordable place to eat and relax with your friends and family? Look no further than this well managed establishment. Very friendly staff and the smell of skillets and monkey bread greet you as soon you walk through the doors. The worst wait time Ive seen is about 30 minutes to get seated but trust me, stick it out because the food is worth it. The building is tucked away off a frontage road so it is very easy to get to. Conviently located off the highway and near hotels, dont pass up this opportunity to try one of the best breakfast places around!

I went here with my girlfriend and was disappointed in the food and service. At frist i looked at the menu and saw they had a large selection of breakfast food and that you can get lunch options too. I got excited that they had nitro coffee. When i oreder it oyr server rained it by putting ice cubs in it making it super watery. I ordered tge monkey bread pancake. It takes 30 min to make witch they made clear to me the bad part is that my girlfriends food came out cold. Notning on here plate was seasoned and the cornbeef has came from a can and tasted bland as did the hash browns. Dont waste your time here
