One of the cool things about Jims Hamburger Heaven is that its been around forever. I remember my mom and dad taking us there as a kid - in the 60s. One of the reasons this stand-alone operation has been around all this time is because their food is awesome: their "secret sauce" truly is Hamburger Heavenly. Another cool thing is this is a "Walk Up to the Window to Order Your Food - and Stay Outside to Eat It - Old Fashioned" style of restaurant (which is why I marked the Decor - Very Good). That alone, combined with the awesome chow, makes any summer day or night that much more fun! But, if you dont want to hang out, you can always bring it back home. Anyhow, I still live in Elmhurst, and Im glad to see that some things never change.

Pass by it all the time. Decided to stop today. Even though its freezing... Dont ask why. Simply asked for a burger, however it comes. It was up in minutes, walked back to my car, took a bite, and wow! It was delicious! got out of my car, walked back up, and ordered another one! So yummy! Also got a malt the second trip up to the window. Dont know if its as good as theyre supposed to be. But I prefer shakes if this is a "good malt". Dont care though... 5 stars anyway just because of that first bite of that hamburger! Heavenly!

They have good burgers. But the 2 stars is for the racist encounter with one of their staff. I went with a friend and we both ordered and stood next to each other. She gave him his food no problem (not mentioning his race) but when it was time for mine, she called my number so I walked up to grab it and she quickly snatched it away and said let me see your receipt so I showed it to her and she throws the bag at my chest. If I wasnt in my work uniform, I would be on the news because that was insane

Its a cute throwback but nothing special. Food was almost consession stand kind of food from a local kids baseball game. Eating outside is great if you like sucking in the fumes from all the traffic that you are subjected to. Burgers so thin its life eating all bun and lettuce. Fries were run of the mill frozen variety you can get at the store. Nachos that truly looked and tasted like a grade schooler made them. Im not sure what the draw is about this place other than its been around so long.

An old-school walk-up burger stand with good burgers and great root beer/floats. There is a good sized parking lot but I imagine it would get crowded during the busy summer months. And there is outdoor seating but its right on York, so it tends to get a bit noisy. My only complaint is that there is a bus stop 10 feet from the outdoor seating. We had to wait for a seat because folks waiting for the bus were seated at the tables while waiting.

Ordered their "famous" burger and it was absolutely terrible. One of the worst burgers I have ever had if not thee worst. The service was terrible. The girl working was clueless and handed me a bag with a completely different order which was crazy cause she had no idea where my order went and no one else ordered. Needless to say, dont ever waste your money at this place

The food isnt amazing but you pay (and you dont pay much) for ambience: sitting at a picnic table on North Ave on a warm summer night, your olive burger (make it a double) illuminated you the headlights of passing cars. The root beer is served sans ice to prevent dilution or potential numbing of the palate - God forbid youd miss out on its...rooty goodness.

Awesome customer service, staff was super friendly. I wish I could say more for my burger. Patty was good, but the bun really killed it, super dry and flavorless. My shake and fries were just OK too. Maybe my expectations were to high as I had been wanting to stop here for years and I made a special trip.

I live right by here and the place has a very old school feel everyone loves. The food is great (not just burgers). They recently redid their outdoor seating area ( much needed improvement). Their root beer is locally famous so get yourself a float

Great burgers and shakes. This is a old fashioned drive up/walk up burger stand that is a downtown Elmhurst landmark. No chairs or indoor seating, BUT great homemade burgers and hand scoped shakes and malts. They even have their own root beer.

Great place to eat, closed for the season now. Their double decker cheeseburgers are great, have one. They been serving these since 1948, and youll see how McDonalds copy there big Mac after it. McDonalds open in 58.

Recently moved away from Chicago and I miss this little place terribly. The double decker with green olives is awesome, and their fresh tap root beer is a great addition. Family owned, must-stop.

Food is reasonable, but their burger patties are thin. Think about concession stand food and youll know what to expect. Their root beer and ice cream is excellent however.

One of my favorite places for quick food. They offer a wide range of burger joint & diner food, but be sure to check their hours becsuse they change seasonally.
