I could not post this unless I gave them a star which they most certainly do not deserve! What started as a promising evening in a pleasant enough atmosphere ended being the worst experience I have had anywhere in Chicago! We waited for ages after ordering. Only one main course dish was delivered with a promise the other one was on its way which never arrived. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that they did not "understand" we ordered an extra salad instead. Finally, we ordered the desert and waited almost 40 minutes by which time we asked for the check saying we cannot waiting any longer. The waiter refused to remove the desert from the bill because it was already ordered and when we asked if we could take it with us he said it was not possible to pack it!!! They never gave us an itemized bill so when we got home we realized we were not only charged for the second main course which never arrived but for the desert as well. Rude and argumentative and primitive staff! A rip off joint disguised as a upscale "French" restaurant. Btw, the steak was chewy as hell! ZERO satisfaction!

This review was for a visit to the Blanchard during Restaurant Week 2017. The menu was prix fixe without the option to order off of the regular menu. Given the limited options and because of the normally good ratings received, I anticipated a great meal with precise execution. However, the dinner service was slow, and it definitely seemed like the chefs/cooks were just getting dishes out. Frites were soggy, and flavors were just dull as if they werent adequately seasoned. Overall, I dont expect the best meal during Restaurant Week, but I do expect something worth the price. Im largely unmotivated to go back here given the breadth of other amazing restaurants in the city.

A true hidden gem. I cant say enough good things about this restaurant. First, we arrived without reservations during restaurant week. They seated us right away anyway. We even got to sit at the chefs table! We ordered our choices for each course up front. Our server, Kamma, timed every course perfectly! He accidentally sent mussels instead of snails for our second course. It was a perfectly acceptable mistake since they let us keep the mussels and the snails arrived only a moment later. We ordered a fish and steak entree. The steak was pretty bland. The fish was the real star. It was a beautiful night out with spectacular service, delicious food and wine.

One of the best dining experiences in Chicago. The place is super lovely: It is contemporary, but at the same time has a warm and friendly feel. We were lucky to get a place at the Chefs table, so we could see how the magic is created. Jason Paskewitz (The Chef) is a super nice guy. Despite place being very busy, he found time to talk to the patrons. We chatted with him about the origins of his culinary art and even took a picture with him. Lamb chop is to die for!!! The only thing we regret about the visit is that we didnt have more time. Well be sure to come back.

Took my fiance here for her birthday and we both found the experience to be exceptional. Located off the beaten path, The Blanchard offers delicious food, tasty cocktails, superior service and a comfortable, yet upscale, atmosphere. Priced right for the quality of food. My favorite dish was the Fioe Gras seared #2 - due to how delicious it was and the fact that it lists "magic" as one of the ingredients. I had the cassoulet while my fiance had the boeuf bourguignon. Everything was perfect and resulted in an memorable night out.

The service and food are amazing, ambiance was so so the Saturday I visited - primarily noisy groups of middle aged people (we were expecting a slightly more romantic bistro vibe.) That said, the bordelaise sauce is the best Ive had, apparently they reduce it over a couple days which explains how it is that amazing. Also the foie gras was worth the walk over on its own.

Food is indeed delicious, refined cuisine, well served, good choice of French wines and price is reasonable. Nice service and kind waiters who really take care of you. However is too noisy, if you are looking for a quiet and romantic address take the tables near the entrance or walk away. I changed twice...

Michael is incredibly gifted when it comes to making interesting, sophisticated and complex cocktails. If there was only a Michelien rating for mixologist, this guy would be 3 stars. I keep running into people who rave about this guy. Damn I love his drinks.

This place is phenomenal. We have been here several times now and it is great every time. Seared foie gras and duck breast are always on point, and you have to try the cream of mushroom soup if it is the season! Not sure how they still do not have a Michelin star.

We loved The Blanchard Chicago in Lincoln Park - The food was incredible and the evening was lots of fun. We attended the Albert Bichot Dinner at in March; and we will definitely be returning for The Blanchards next special event dinner too!
