This is a great breakfast /brunch place. Its usually crowded and its not surprising why. The food is great, both in terms of quality and quantity, and the atmosphere is fantastic, especially if the weather is nice out. I had the skillet and even though they tell me its 3 eggs worth, it probably felt more like 6! The portion was huge but it was so well done that I did not get sick of taking bite after bite. The eggs were scrambled to light and fluffy perfection, with just the right amount of other ingredients to keep the flavors coming. My wife had the eggs benedict and e hollandaise sauce was rich, creamy, bit not too heavy or overpowering. If the weather is nice (spring, wherefore art thou?), you can sit outside along the sidewalk and watch the morning go by. With the soft glow of the morning sun and people out walking their dogs as your backdrop, and great food in front of you, this is a great place to ease into your weekend.

My girlfriend and I went to Tempo Cafe earlier today for a New Years Day brunch. Even with lots of people waiting, we were seated in ten minutes and were promptly (within seconds of sitting) offered beverage service and the opportunity to order -- we of course needed more time, but nice nonetheless. Lots to choose from on the breakfast menu -- didnt really look at the rest of the menu, but lots there, too. The corned beef hash with eggs and potatoes was excellent, as were the side of bacon and short stack of pancakes I ordered to share with my girlfriend, who ordered the Veggie Poor Mans Skillet and couldnt finish it. With two large freshly-made juices, the bill came out to around $40 -- slightly expensive, but we certainly could have ordered less food and been equally satisfied.

24 HOURS!!! Restaurant only takes cash so be aware! Its a nice spot for an after bar hopping meal. Overall I didnt think the food was anything to die for and primarily felt like traditional brunch menu options... nothing over the top. Quality of the food was great... flavor of the food was just traditional. The place is fairly crowded so you may have to wait a bit. Plenty of street parking in the area which is a plus. I ordered the poor mans skillet with extra crispy potatoes. The meal was very nicely cooked and eggs were perfectly runny over easy like I love them. Im willing to give this place another shot in the future but for brunch options there are many better options in the Chicago area.

This place completely failed to impress me. We had to wait 45 mintues before we got a table, which isnt that big of a deal because we thought "Hey its popular it must be good". When we finally got seated, I ordered an omelette and my wife ordered pancakes. It was probably the worst pancakes and omelette we have ever tasted. They were both pretty bad. We had about 1/4 of each and left. We went to pay, and they tell us it is cash only. Luckily I had some cash on me which is kind of unusual. So to sum it up: long wait, horrible food and they dont take credit cards. I would skip this place if I were you.

Horrible experience. Heard very much about this place. Came to eat breakfast. Was extremely disappointed in the fact that the maple syrup was fake sugar syrup and the butter was the most unflavored butter I have ever tasted. The pancakes I ordered were mushy and felt like I was just chewing dough. Tje coffee was mot warm enough. The only consolation was that after asking the management they agreed to remove my order from the check and I didnt need to pay for it. I would never go back there.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this corner restaurant. The food is good but simple, prices are great, the staff friendly and efficient. There are some unique things to this restaurant such as it is cash only, sodas only have 1 free refill, and the decor is pleasant but unusual. If your hungry and looking for a quick good sit-down meal regardless of the time of day then the Tempo cafe is for you. Its easy to get to from downtown and always open.

On a recent trip to Chicago (am from the UK), I went here for breakfast everyday. Each day it was really good and my friend and I explored the menu well. Sometimes there is a line but its pretty fast and you will soon be eating some really good home style food. Good breakfast that sets you up for the day $20-30 for two people. Am really missing this place for the skillet omlette and wish I had somewhere like this locally. Go there you will not be disappointed.

A huge menu, if you cant find something to eat here then youre doing it wrong. The staff are friendly and efficient. The place can be a zoo on the weekends especially during the winter months as the ample outdoor seating that they offer during the spring/summer just isnt available given the weather. It is cash only and they dont give free refills on soft drinks but the Michigan omelet with cheddar and MI apples is not to be missed.

Gold Coast brunch. Sunday morning gets super crowded early about 9 AM and the place is too small for the crowd. The establishment seats patron too close in the aisle and beside other patrons. Detracts from the whole dining experience when other patrons and the waitress are constantly banging the back of your chair all while trying to eat. The hashbrown potatoes are also very bland, stay away from the potatoes

Ive been coming to Tempos for over 15 years. The food has always been great and the prices were great. Well, I guess they decided to bring the prices up to the area where the restaurant is located...The Gold Coast area. The prices dont match the quality of the food anymore. If you are going to raise the prices, then make the quality of the food better as well. Everyone dont live in the Gold Coast area!!

This place is good for what it is - a late night diner. Stick with breakfast and stay away from the patty melt and burgers generally - they will ask you how you want something cooked and then cook it well anyways :) I do love the family environment and food is pretty quick. My bf and I have been guilty of going out on a weekend and ditching our friends for a meal here before we go home.
