Although I now live around 3 hours from Hohenwald, I still make the drive every couple of months for the Sunday buffet. Okay, and to visit family, but Rio is just something that, once you come to love it, you dont want to go without. The home-made salsa is always just a bit different from the last time, and the chips are made right there too. The food isnt dripping with excess sauce and cheese, which means it wont break the diet (unless you choose to pile it high with the fantastic beans and rice). In fact, many of the entrees are not only healthy, but diabetes friendly (although they dont advertise that, just speaking from personal experience as a diabetic). All in all, I love Rio, and thats not an overstatement.

No liquid cheese hardly at all under all nachos just little on top. Ask for more server brought it no problems. But they charged for ?? No problem to charge for extra but it needs to have some in the first place? Then the cashier tells me that they had cheese and she has seen nachos sent out in the past and always has cheese. Well I didnt know she inspector of all the plates that go out?? She sure wasnt inspecting this plate. I will not be back to this place.

I was spoiled by the old restaurant, they had 20 years ago. Now, its still delicious food and the taste is amazing, but i miss what was. My order of choice is the shredded beef chimichanga with no black olives and charros instead of refried beans. Follow that with a chocolate chimichanga. Plus, a big ol glass of sweet tea. Yeah man!!!

My father and I eat here often on our motorcycle trips. Its close to the Natchez Trace which is great. The salsa and chips are solid. I always get a chimichanga and they never let me down. If youre near this is a great local spot. Makes for a great destination as its just far enough to make for a great ride.
