Well, I used to come here a lot mainly because theyre one of the few places that I know of thats open late in Chinatown (but that trend is changing, a lot more restaurants have decided to serve Chinese food late) and also because of theyre Chinese BBQ and Crispy pork belly which I both loved but that too has changed. One of the reasons why Chinese food appeals to me a lot is not only the dishes that they serve but also how easy it is to choose and order from their menu. You see hot and sour soup, thats what you will get. You want orange chicken? Thats what you will see. Follow? And also for that reason, I gave them a low star rating. I ordered crispy pork belly to take home and also to enjoy some of it while I dine in along with the pork BBQ I ordered separately. But I never did got the crispy pork belly coz they didnt serve it while I was there contrary to what I requested. So they gave it for me to solely take home but I still wanted to try it, so I did, and to my dissapointment, it wasnt even crispy. Maybe that explains why they didnt want to serve it yet even if thats what I requested. I complained but didnt get no resolution. " Its not crispy anymore because they cooked it this morning". I rest my case.

Best kind of casual Chinese restaurant in the area. No frills, just great food. 554 is a must try, and the won ton (dumplings in soup, can order with noodles as well) are awesome too. While I was in college at IIT, I would frequent this establishment often-- late nights, after church gatherings, or dinners with friends. Its easy to find, about midway on the main Chinatown drag. Just follow the smell of char siu (Chinese BBQ pork). This place is reasonably priced with tasty dishes. For some reason, I enjoy the lackluster decor and ambiance. To me, this means that the food must be good; how else could they stay open? As previously mentioned, my favorite dishes from here are the 554 (BBQ pork and an egg on top of rice), and the won ton min (the dumplings with noodles). Ive tried to replicate the 554 at home, but its never the same. Youve gotta go there to get it. I like to put lot of the sambal (red chili sauce) on top of it. The other menu choices are great too; the egg fu young for example (something like an omelet smothered in gravy). Its more authentic Chinese food than the usual Americanized fair you usually would find on the US mainland.

Are you into Chinese food, looking for change taste a little bit, like Cantonese? Come here. I have given them three stars for a different reason, definitely not for food. Ambiance: We visited this place on the Chinese New year parade day. So it was too much crowded unlike normal days. We waited for 15 mins to get a table for two. Ambiance was casual, It is a huge area, so noise level was pretty high. Food: We ordered Singapore Rice Noodles and Szechuan Chicken. Singapore Rice Noodles was a bit spicy filled with tasty pork pieces, but Szechuan chicken was too sweet. Anyways I loved the food. Service: Here comes the critical part. We waited for about 50 mins to get our order and it was painful with all the noise and empty bellied and in the middle of awesome smells of food. The servers were too busy to attend us sometimes and I noticed some table got food before us even after they came later. So, overall, I would recommend this restaurant to others but definitely on a less crowded day.

Me and my fiance come an hour away once to twice a week on a whim just for their 554 (or 551, everything minus the egg cause my fiance hates eggs) and their smoothies with tapioca pearls. The workers know us now by heart and when we walk in already have it starting. I get happy just knowing even after a long day of work and having to go back super early in the morning doesnt matter if I get sleep or not thats how good this food is. Ive been coming here for 2 years now religiously. The food is amazing the price is even more amazing and yes they dont really speak much English but the service is amazing. I feel at home there and can calm down with in just hearing that were going there. Love this place forever.

This is the way I remembered local Cantonese. Not Hip not Fusion or Eclectic...just good food and astounding value. Great Won Ton soup, eggrolls, egg fu young, noodles & soup.... The menu has over 200 items, with most entrees under $9. I recommend exploring and ordering too much.... bring the leftovers home. Four of us had WonTon soup, egg rolls, a vegetarian dish, egg fu young, szechuan chicken, and three pork & steamed rice platters. We tried to guess what the bill was going to be. My guess was $110...it came in at $60 including tax. Even if you decide you dont like it...what is there to lose? Downside (maybe not) No liquor and I couldnt get a clear answer on BYOB.

I specifically ordered some chow mein noodles and I ended up getting some completely different. I went back to the restaurant and told them that I didnt get the order I wanted and they told me they dont make those chow mein noodles, therefore, I told them I wanted my money and back one of the lady employers started to give attitude and started talking in Chinese right in front of me. They then were telling me that they do have what I want and theyll make it for me but I found it weird how first they said they dont make those noodles and then later on they said they do. I kept telling them I wanted my money back and they finally did. Also, the place smells horrible.

I really want to like this place, I was hoping… It been years and years since we have been here. Their food is just short of good; The stir fry beef with rice noodle dish was almost good, but some of the noodles was dry because its been sitting out for too long, the wonton noodle soup was favorable/acceptable, but the noodle was just a tag mushy, over cooked, the beef congee was bland there was no flavor, no salt, no seasoning of any kind and the beef was rough, they should have marinate with soy sauce and corn starch. The food tasted like they dont care if its not good enough… too bad...

Really dingy restaurant... but its all about the 554!!! Chicago locals - you know what Im talking about. The special with bbq ribs and a fried egg on top. The decor and cleanliness leaves less to be desired, but the food is soooo good! When you walk in, you see the roasted ducks hanging in the window, so you get that real authentic Chinatown feel!

The soups were really good (wonton+soup was amazing), rest of the meal was just ok. We were wrongly charged for a food item that we never ordered; the problem was fixed, but the older guy was being rude towards one of us. If you have an issue that needs to be resolved, talk to the younger guys there, much nicer and pleasant to deal with.
