Today was the worst experience Ive had in coming here (been a loyal customer for over a year)! Up until 3 days ago, I hadnt tried the pancakes but they were DELICIOUS! The best Id had in a long time - light in color and in texture, flavorful, golden and the size of the entire plate, almost. Today, however, after 2 attempts I received smaller cakes that were black/dark brown (crisp on the edges) and not flavorful - along with an irritated look at the employee that had to take them back. I didnt even eat the second batch because I was so irritated that I drove all the way from the South Loop just to have these either those delicious golden pancakes again OR a golden waffle. I was sooooo upset about leaving there hungry - having to stop somewhere else after passing up the Pancake House and Chicken and Waffles. Total waste of money today.

I loved the atmosphere of this cafe and its energy prior to today. I ordered my usual small hot chocolate with a shot of expresso. I was educated that was also known as a mocha. Ok, I had both at Robust. Yet, my preference is the hot chocolate with expresso. Unfortunately, there is a glitch in their system the hot chocolate is 50 cents cheaper. We have the difference of 3.42 vs 3.92. The cashier stated," Its a mocha, I own this shop and Im not changing it. " No worries, I wont be patronizing your business. His mannerisms were insulting and condescending. What happened to customer service??? I was paying him not vice versa. I never asked if he owned the business. Humility is one of the key components in customer service. He could benefit from a slice of humble pie.

Ive tried this place three times and each time the staff has forgotten my order and left me standing there for 10-15 minutes before I approached them myself. Two of these times were because the cashier told me a certain kind of bagel was in stock, I would order that bagel, and then the back-end staff would just never make my order because it turned out they didnt actually have that kind in stock. And no one notified me until I asked about it myself. Also, the Americanos all have the same number of espresso shots, so when youre buying a larger size youre literally just paying for more water. Whats the point of that? I want to like this place, I really do. Its a cool place and a great environment to work or relax in. The staff is friendly, too, they just seem pretty incompetent.

Ive gone there on several occasions, and usually, overall things are good. However this time things were bad. For starters the cashier was rude and abrupt. I chalked it up to him having a bad day. When he asked if I wanted room I the coffee for cream, I didnt hear him the first time, so I said sorry repeat that please. He them raised voice to uncomfortable level and repeated himself with a very condensenting tone. So I took my and waited for my Breakfast Bowl ( which came out in fairly imply manner). Once I sat down with my bowl, o immediately notice that the grits were watery (like a broth like soup), the egg in the grits was good though. Anyway, the experience was bad. And I called them to let them know.

I went to Robust to do some work and enjoy the coffee. I loved the atmosphere -- there are a lot of outlets for infinate hours of computer use. Theres an awesome 2 dollar special for a medium coffee and a doughnut. My favorite drink was the Diablo -- lots of flavor and a little sweet. The only difficult thing is the location; because its next to a high school between the times of 3 - 5pm, there are a huge crowd of rowdy kids. Overall its not a bad place and its great for some quiet relaxing time to work.

Robust has unexpectedly amazing food. I went thinking Id get standard cafe food, but got the best bagel Ive had in my lifetime. So fresh. The biscuit was dense and buttery and flakey. The mocha freeze was everything I wanted and more. The doughnut was a perfect mix between cakey and moist. The service was good - of the two employees, one was a little spacey but still ultimately helpful. The cafe itself is very roomie with plenty of space to spread out. Unfortunately the wifi was a little spotty.

Stopped by while out Ubering. I hadnt had my morning coffee and this looked as good a place as any. I ordered a Caramel Macchiato and a breakfast sandwich (challah, eggs, bacon, Turkey sausage) and WOW! Im usually getting coffee from Dunkin Donuts and man have I cheated myself!! The place is quaint and comfy along with delicious coffee & food. I recommend that you try this place if you are ever in the area like I was. GOOD JOB Robust Coffee Lounge!!

This is my second home. Any time i can work from home i try to set up shop right in front of the window. This place has an amazing atmosphere, including a sharing book shelf, free wifi with purchase, wonderful staff, multiple coffee blend selections, tasty fresh sweet treats and fresh deli style lunches. Breakfast is even pretty great. I would prefer more reasonable prices but the deals are fair. Try a mocha diablo!

Great atmosphere and perfect for studying. Free wifi, a cute little bookshelf that lets you swap and trade, and courteous staff. Im obsessed with chai lattes, so I like to try them at different coffee shops. Robusts was the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. There was a buy one get one free special that day, and our barista was really nice. I will definitely be visiting again.

They had zero toilet paper in their bathrooms. I had to get my hands all poopy, and because they had neither paper towels or a working soap dispenser, I had to touch all of their stuff with my poopy, poopy hands. So this place stinks because of the its bathrooms and now also because their entire condiment stand and much of their stuff is covered in my poop. True story.

It is a beautiful open space that has a lot more space than what the exterior shows. It has two different rooms both of which you can work, enjoy, talk, print and even set up events. The sandwiches were delicious. I had a bagel and lox. But what really got me was How Sweet the staff was! It would also be very wise for anyone to go in there and check out the info Board.

Great space, and a truly engaged staff. Not pompous like the staff at the other chain (star deer) They even had condiments and didnt have to say sorry if you wanted to make your breakfast sandwich the way you want it.maybe a touch of pepper or some hot sauce. Oh yeah my coffee was great and less expensive than ****bucks. Ill be back!!

Now this is a coffee house. It will take you back to the days when you went to get coffee the shop was one of a kind. The place should have been located in Bucktown in the early 2000 with the cooler than cool decor and the funky staff. Donuts that are literately the size of a plate and drinks with Lucky Charms - Need I say more.
