***What a sad loss.*** This place was an absolute favorite. I mean like #1 absolute favorite. I was lucky to be introduced to it by my boyfriend who had been coming here for over 20 years. In less than one short year after my first visit, the restaurant changed ownership and the new owners decided to try and change and cheapen the food that had a fantastic reputation, instantly ruining decades of success with old-school bad business sense. This old man had the audacity to lie to me and tell me he had changed nothing. Like I have no taste buds. The wings were less spicy, the sauce was more watery and salty, the soup was less seasoned, the broth was inauthentic, the black noodles were flavorless too. Honestly if I had never eaten there before this old fool wrecked the food, it would be good enough to enjoy. But just knowing how good it used to be, it just breaks my heart to taste it. My boyfriend has vowed to never return. I suspect many other faithful customers have made the same decision or will soon. Below is my original review.... Favorite - I dream of those hot wings

I read this place was great, but I was disappointed. I did not order their signature dish of chicken wings, so maybe that was the problem. I ordered the cashew chicken, egg rolls, crab Rangoon and shrimp fried rice. The shrimp fried rice was okay, not good, very few shrimp, though they were a decent size. It was rather plain. The crab Rangoon was good, fresh cream cheese and great crab flavor. The egg rolls were the best I have had in a long time. Nice amount of meat, and not tons of cabbage. Plus you get 3, usually an order is 2, but they were generous. The cashew chicken wad mediocre at best, though it had a good amount of cashews and chicken, the sauce was just okay. I will give this place another try, but was disappointed they did not have sesame chicken on the menu. I have tried the wings, they mistakenly gave me hot when i asked for mild. The hot is very hot. Too hot for me. I eventually had the mild ones, they were good, nothing amazing about them though. I really think they are small thighs with the meat pushed down.

The interior hasnt changed probably since it opened 30+ years ago, but the draw is the food. And Ive been coming here since the opening back in the 80s. Shandong cuisine at its best - delicious spicy chicken wings (kampongi), seafood black noodles (sam sun gun chajiangmyun), spicy seafood noodle soup, (sam sun cchamppong), spicy tofu, and Mongolian beef are the stand outs. Its a neck-and-neck race between this places cuisine compared to Peking Mandarin just up the street. I think the noodles/soups and Mongolian beef are better at Peking Mandarin. Great Sea has the edge on the wings. Honestly, you cannot go wrong at either place. My only complaint is that the black noodles used to have a ton of different seafood items that I still cannot identify or name. But they were delicious. Unfortunately, these seafood creatures are no longer present in the black noodles, which is a shame. I feel like the food was changed for non-Easterners tastes. Still, this is one of the best places for this type of cuisine, arguably in the country.

The fried rice is barely fried its beige to give an idea. The acclaimed chicken wings are extremely over cooked and tough and hard to chew although the parts I could chew were tasty. The shrimp lobster sauce is the worst Ive ever eaten --and I have eaten plenty. It had mushrooms corn and snow peas in it which are not ingredients of shrimp lobster sauce and it was bland and tasteless. The menu claims to serve beer there they do not serve alcohol. Aall in all the food is not anything I would want to eat again. However the staff was very nice and friendly and the room and tables very clean. A welcoming environment but a waste of my money. Tthe last thing I have to say is that they do not serve any thing but extra large sizes and no half orders so therefore you really get ripped off which is why I spent $50 unnecessarily. Miss me next trip Ill stay home.

Korean-owned Chinese restaurant in Albany Park- this truly is a hidden gem. The exterior looks like a dingy home but once you walk in through the doors, its a different scene. There are all types of ethnicities in one small room ranging from Hispanic, Caucasian, and Asian all digging in delicious food. I love seeing people enjoy Asian food :) I come here for three menu items- their WINGS, dumplings, and Jjajangmyeon. Their wings, ohhhh wings, I love them! Mild, spicy, however you like them, youll be licking your fingers till theres no hint of sauce. Make sure you eat the wings with rice, the sauce can get salty and mixing it with rice is uh-may-zeeng!! I would recommend coming on a weekday and if you do come during the weekend, I would suggest coming before 6:30pm as it can get busy- people want their wings!!

Let me reiterate...Great Seas has THE BEST Korean chicken wings ever. In the restaurant, each table has a plate of these wings and up on the counter, paper bags and shiny aluminum pans (most likely with wings) are lined up, waiting to be picked up. The quality of the wings is always consistent and delicious! Everything about the wings is perfect...its lollipop style, tender meat, and spicy and tangy (but not too tangy) sauce. I also tried the noodles with black bean sauce. With take-out, the noodles and sauce are separated. It didnt look appetizing at all, but they were great and so tasty. This will be another item I would always order for future visits.

Back in the day, if you wanted Chinese, you were stuck with chop suey and egg rolls period. Now there enough Chinese restaurants to rival China. The best, by far, is "Great Seas" the owner escaped China thru North Korea. Its that drive that makes every dish fantastic. Still, you have to order the Chicken wings. YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE CHICKEN WINGS. They are the most addictive dish in Chicago. People drive in from all over the North Shore to get their wings. You cant go wrong. When my Jewish (Irish) family break the fast, we, along with our neighbors, drive from Highland Park to Albany Park! Love dem wings!!!!!

Hands down, best asian style chicken wings in the chicagoland area. These wings are the wings that all other asian chicken wings aspire to be one day. I think I can personally take down 30 of those suckers easily with a bowl of that jasmine rice. The spicy wings are the headliner but the menu also has a lot of other goodness to offer. If you walk in there you will see a plate of chicken wings on every table and an order of the mongolian beef. Ive seen large parties in there that order just those 2 dishes. Yeah, its that good.
