Nice little hole in the wall. I ate here when visiting Chicago for a few days. Traveled from downtown to the Roscoe Village neighborhood via the CTA-brown line. I had pre-selected a few lunch places, but this was not one of them. I passed by this place accidently and I liked the menu on window so I went in. Its a cozy, friendly place with a large selection of sandwiches (of course) and wraps. Most come with a choice of chips or a piece of fruit. I had a wrap with an apple... I was in a healthy mood. Its a tiny place... not a lot of seating... if its busy, carry-out is probably a must. There is outdoor seating for warmer months. In the end, this was the best lunch on my trip.

Sold. New owners. Skimpy... Cheap...and rude. I didnt feel good leaving my money there because its not the standard I am used to of Costello. Then, when I called, they said they were too busy to care....brown turkey on the kid sandwich beware...and a pickle sliver for an extra quarter looked like someone had take a bite out of it. No more piled high sandwich. Just a sandwich. My child makes a better sandwich. The quality is gone. The value...gone. The friendly warm and welcoming staff....gone. Costello is gone just a shell of a once fantastic sandwich shop.....housing a mediocre kitchen. Its just crap.

I come to Costellos too often. Its become my comfort food. The subpocalype is my go to fav. Toasted ciabatta sub roll topped with smoked turkey, ham, capicola, jalapeño bacon, cheddar, pepperjack, lettuce, tomato, onion, pepper rings and chipotle ranch no wonder it was named the sandwich challenge winner in 2011. The staff and owner are very friendly. Make sure to stop here on your way to the village discount down the block!

Costello is a wonderful neighborhood sandwich place it truly has the best sides and the yummiest sandwiches! Ive tried all the sandwiches but my fav is the chicken pesto on focaccia bread( my mouth is watering) that and a side of soup and Im set for a satisfying lunch or dinner and sometimes both! And the best part is that they do grub hub! Winning!

this place by far is the most amazing place I have ever been to. i love the sandwhiches the mac and cheese are good. love all the employees. they know my name when i walk and in and they know what i want. i love to sit outside in the patio when it is nice and brisk. go get your sanwhiches now.

We have been eating from Costellos for some time now and usually love it! The sandwich was still great but they have gone skimpy on their sides :/ Also, we got the pineapple tuna pasta as a side and they have substituted the pineapple for scallions. We were disappointed.

Small sandwiches of middle-quality ingredients. The sides were pre-packaged. Everything tasted like it was from the grocery store. These are sandwiches of the quality I could make at home. Not what I was hoping for in a outing to a sandwich shop.

Best sandwich Ive had in a long time!!! I got "The Mess". Best part about it, it had French fries on. Gave it 4 stars because its a little high on price for the size/amount of food but this was a touristy pit stop in Chicago and was well worth it!!!

The service her is amazing. They have a really cool staff whos always easy to talk to. I cant forgoet to mention the amazing sandwiches they have. I always recommend trying the daily special because theres no telling if itll ever be back.

Costellos sandwiches are toasted and use really fresh ingredients. The tuna is my favorite. Splurge for the mashed potatoes it is totally worth it. Be prepared to spend a little more, but at least your supporting the little guy.

Good variety of sandwiches, salads, wraps, sides like potato salad and cole slaw in addition to standard chips and cookies, and warm weather choices like chili and mac n cheese. Ive enjoyed most everything Ive tried here.

This is a cool place, I like supporting small businesses and this is a cool place. The spicy Roscoe is my favorite sandwich there, but its the chili mac that keeps me coming back!
