CityGrounds is a pleasant local coffee shop, serene enough to favor a cordial conversation or productive study session. With an unembellished menu, CityGrounds excels at what they do sell from their limited selection of drinks. Providing indoor, outdoor, and upstairs seating, this coffee bar ensures room for everyone who makes a visit. Lining the patio is an aesthetic display of assorted flora, with a refreshing canvas of trees across the street to give you a break from the concrete jungle of Chicago. For those conscious about a product’s origins, this coffee house features regionally sourced coffee and foodstuffs from farms and cooperatives chosen based on quality, transparency and sustainability, so there’s no need to be concerned over your purchases at CityGrounds.

Easily one of the best coffee shops in the area and certainly number one if youre working remotely and need to accomplish a lot. CityGrounds has quick wifi and an upstairs that is comfortable, quiet, and carries unspoken rules about being silent. The first floor is the place to be if you want to chat with friends and enjoy coffee. In summary: The coffee is great. The food is also good. However, the espressos are not to my taste.

Unimpressed. We live nearby, so we have gone multiple times in hopes the coffee, lattes, and chai tea lattes would somehow improve...They havent. Very mediocre beverages for a high price. They do have a great patio during warm weather and a nice ambiance, however. The service has never been spectacular, never overly friendly.

They ground the espresso fresh for each drink on the spot which I very much appreciated, but it got so loud that the cashier couldnt hear me. They didnt seem like they got a lot of business, so I imagine it wouldnt be a huge issue if you wanted to hang out here for awhile. Great atmosphere though and outdoor seating!

Pretentious. Hipster. Chai latte and coffee are average. Baristas are rude. Its in an old building and so theres a somewhat pungent smell. The large sitting and desk space upstairs might be useful for students, though. I personally would opt for something like La Colombe in the area.

This is a great cafe if youre going with a friend or with a group to chat. If youre going on your own to study or read, I wouldnt suggest it. The music is constantly playing at a high volume, and the workers say there is nothing that they can do about it.

CityGrounds is a great little coffee shop, with excellent coffee, a good atmosphere and decor, and nice, simple food. Its somewhat hidden, but the shop is serene and pleasant. Its a good place to get some work done and grab some coffee.

Quiet space with good music and a great area upstairs for coworking which is rarely crowded. Good coffee prepared well (Gaslight beans, I think). Check out their pies, too (not sure where they get them, but they are yummy).

Wonderful cafe next to Oz park. Full espresso menu to choose from with downstairs and upstairs community rooms to work or just sit and sip. There is a front patio for relaxing coffee on a sunny day as well.
