I LOVE bear claws - almonds and almond paste. In fact, I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur. I was really excited to find that this bakery, in my own new neighborhood, had something along those lines. Whether bear claws or almond coffeecake, it had loads of sliced almonds on top and looked delicious. Something was odd about it, though. The sliced almonds looked like almonds but tasted faintly like peanuts, which ruined the whole thing for me. As I looked more closely, the nuts actually looked like sliced peanuts. I called the bakery back and asked what gave, they insisted they only used 100% almonds. It made no sense to me. Curious, I went online and found that there is actually something sold for baking (at a much cheaper price) called almond-flavored peanuts!! I stopped by to talk with them about my discovery and again they insisted they only use 100% actual almonds. Trust me, once you know that almond-flavored peanuts exist, after looking at these things and tasting these nuts, theres no question that thats exactly what they are. This happened a few years ago so, just for the heck of it, I called them now as I was typing this review to ask again. They were not forthcoming at all and danced around my direct question on this but, in the end, because I knew what I was talking about, the lady on the phone did admit that they DO use almond-flavored peanuts. Ah ha, vindicated!

I dont normally have a sweet tooth. Id rather have another savory dish over a dessert any day (I know, I know, theres something wrong with me). BUT, when I found out that Bridgeport Bakery sells maple bacon donuts, I had to go against my morals and values and give it a shot! BOY am I glad I did! The bakery itself is small, but the pastries and confections theyre baking in that kitchen have some huge flavors! They offer so many sweets from cookies to donuts to buns and even sell paczkis, which are deep fried Polish pastries filled with a sweet filling. How can you go wrong with something thats deep fried and filled?! I went with the maple bacon donut and it was glorious. At first, when you look at it, it might seem like an ordinary donut with bits of bacon on it, but its soooo much more! The salty bits of bacon covering the donut paired beautifully with the sweet maple glaze without being overpowering. I couldve easily thrown back 5 of these bad boys. And the best part? Its less than a $1 - sucha bargain! Just a word of warning - make sure you get here early because they sell out fast! Happy eating!

Ladies are so nice, they even had someone who spoke Spanish! Awesome because my dad was with me so he was able to make his own orders without my help. I love it when he can do that. So service is good. The pastries as delicious but a bit pricey. I went to get my paczki days ahead just to try them. Theyll let you do that to avoid the long line on the day of. I order one day and they were available the very next day. They are smaller than what Ive seen but the 16 kinds to choose from are just great! Loved the peach paczki! If you buy then ahead of time the also price drops considerably! Worth trying out. Dont be fooled by the outside facade.

My favorite place to go for Paczki Day. I order my paczki ahead of time and pick them up at midnight for Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras. I love that they are small because theyre only $1 and you can try a bunch of flavors. Poppy seed is my personal favorite but I also love the raspberry and custard. The staff is friendly and it is a real neighborhood gem. My family went here for years and now I carry on the tradition.

Quality, cheap, old fashioned bakery. Get there early and try to catch the bacon buns hot from the oven. Donuts here make Dunkin irrelevant, and their other pastries and breads are great. Donut holes can be ordered ahead of time and are supremely addictive. Soda bread is a favorite of mine here, and if you are in the know, you can order kugelis with advance notice, too.

always quality bakery, be it chocolate donuts, bacon buns, or coffee cakes. if you order ahead you can request ingredient combos for coffee cakes ie cherry/pecan or chocolate chip nut. salt sticks like my mom would eat. you can be creative with the bacon buns too, add a hard boiled egg and horseradish, or sliced turkey for a club,bun. now thats good eating!
