WILL NOT RETURN!!! I have been a customer hear for nearly 8 years, but I must say that these last few times have been pretty disappointing. My most recent visit confirmed that its time to look for another Chinese/Thai restaurant. Despite the restaurant not being completely full, my family and I received pretty horrible service. The waiter we were given was waiting on a larger party (the only other table he had to work at that time) that had already ordered their food by the time we were seated. He was rushed with us, and after taking our drinks and appetizers, we never saw him at our table again, yet he walked past us several times (looking right at us) and patiently served the other party. Not once did he hand our table to one of the other waiters who were working the two smaller party tables right next to us; he just completely ignored us. We had to ask the manager to finish serving us, yet the manager NEVER returned to our table either after he took our meal requests. Needless to say, it went south from there. The rice was cold; food was average and we had to get up and get our own to go boxes since no one came to finish out the check after 20 minutes. At the end of the meal, we literally had to get up and walk over to the cash register ourselves to close out our check. And what was even worse was the manager was standing at the register! He asked if we had a good meal; naturally we said no we had terrible service (and he knew it). Instead of figuring out how to comp us for the bad service, he just handed us fortune cookies and acted as if nothing happened! It was quite disappointing considering the manager knows us VERY well and can even remember the standard fare that we normally order. We are regulars and have been for years, but we will not be returning. Plus, as of 7/29/2011, the last restaurant inspection score, the restaurant scored a 79 C. If you want great Chinese/Thai food, go downtown.

Locals: you have got to try this place! A real hidden gem; a literal hole in the wall. We lived right here for years and never wouldve guessed there was such an amazing and beautiful restaurant tucked in between a Little Caesars and a karate school in a strip mall along with an Indian takeout joint and Atl Wings & Things. Carl says their Spicy Thai Fried Rice is the best fried rice hes ever had in his life and he is a fried rice lover and connoisseur. Their couple-style sizzling rice soup (for two/two servings) was out of this world, both in taste and presentation. My Spring Pancakes (crepes served like little burritos with plum sauce and crushed peanut on the side) were unbelievably tasty. The meat in everything was perfectly tender and delicious. The vegetables everywhere were super fresh and impeccably cooked. We also loved the kitchen on display behind a giant window. Having worked in various kitchens and being engaged to someone who was a kitchen manager and expo, I was stunned at how calm and orderly, yet exciting it was (every once in a while, an open flame would surge a foot or higher like the onion volcano on a hibachi grill). I also liked how the expo/wait station was at the back, where we could still see it through the kitchen. Carl and I couldnt stop gushing over everything nearly the whole time we were there. We are so ridiculously excited that we have this right here, easily accessible to us. I do have one tip: I was confused at first by their menu. Then I looked online and realized its three menus/sections in one... Chinese, then Thai, then Lunch.

My husband and I have been to this restaurant quite a few times to eat in and to take out. I highly recommend going to this beautiful establishment. The inside is pretty, the food is Amazing and is high quality food (sometimes even presented artistically on the plate) which gives it an expensive feel without actually emptying your wallet. It feels like your dish is made to order and with a lot of care. The owner and staff are very friendly without being obtrusive. They take care of you just right. I love also how you can see through a window to the cooks making your food and is shown in an elegant way, meaning you dont see a lot of mess and dirty dishes and what not, you just see a neat, calm and clean area in which the cooks are working making great food. I give this restaurant an A+++ for cleanliness and pretty establishment, beautiful presentation of food, great tasting food, wonderful prices, an excellent variety on the menu and friendly staff.

We ordered carry out. We got home and the food taste like burnt plastic. This is not why Im giving one star. The reason Im giving one star is because when I called to let him know that the food taste burnt, the man on the phone started blurting out excuses and told me to bring the food back and show it to him. I told him its 20 mins away and Im not going to waste 40 mins of my life to prove a point. I told him I would appreciate a credit on my account as a gesture of good faith. He refused. So I told him that its a shame because I expected him to do the right thing. The food I ordered probably cost him $4 to prepare. I hope those precious $4 was worth it. Im really tired of people having to lower expectations of restaurant service and quality due to business owners who simply do not care. Its really not that hard.

Ive ordered here quite a few times hoping it would get better considering there isnt another good Thai restaurant around, but it never did. Every time was unsatisfying and bland. Im use to good Thai food, (Thai of Norcross is the best in Ga) and this doesnt even compare. The chef has such an ego he wont even do a substitution of anything. I told him Im allergic to red onions so I asked if they could use green instead and they were very firm in saying that the chef refuses to do substitutions. The funny thing is that hes not even a good Chef. Unfortunately there isnt another good Thai restaurant nearby. Sr. Thai isnt far, but it is just as bad.. From now on I am going to make the 30 min drive to Norcross and get the real stuff.

The best Asian food in the area. I have to have my food authentic and this hits the spot. The people complaining about raw food probably dont know how to cook. (Just because your chicken isnt dry as a bone, doesnt mean its underdone!) I became a regular but sadly moved away. If youre debating going, just go and try it out. Get a curry and coconut soup if youre not sure where to start. The staff/owners can seem rude, but I think thats just how they are. I sat down and talked with them, theyre very nice when you look past the short winded sentences. (Different cultures, different ways of speaking)

Found "Lavender Asian Bistro" via Google search. Based on that I took my family there for a Friday night dinner. The boss (my wife) is Asian so I usually cant go wrong with that choice. We were not disappointed in the food or the service. The hostess seemed a bit confused however. Very nice Chinese & Thai food offerings. I had prawns the wife had a whole fish & my boy had the beef fried rice. We also tried the hot & sour seafood soup & some fried pot stickers. It was all very good. Ill have no issue going back any time my family or I want good Asian food. Paul in Lawrenceville.
