I hardly ever send reviews on companies, but I cant let this one slide. Kampai in Lawrencville/Snellville area is a complete rip off. First off we came in for Hibachi in a group of three different couples. My wife and I came with my 12 year old daughter. They took our orders knowing perfectly well I had a child with me. The chef comes in who was a very cool individual and starts cooking. A childs plate is around $13 for shrimp and rice. I notice the chef gives my daughter large amounts of rice and shrimp, but didnt think anything of it. I feel he is just be generous to her because she is a minor and thats the experience Ive had at other Hibachi establishments. Then they bring our tickets and for three meals its $82. Each couple had their own ticket. I had an automatic gratuity of 18% on my bill. I first informed that my child was a minor and they tell me she had an adult portion. I asked why because she is a minor. You can clearly tell she is because she had stuffed animals with her. They said sorry....nothing they could do and charged me $23 for a kids meal. Not to mention they forced the 18% gratuity even after I slashed through it for the 15% option. I dont understand how they feel its ok to charge automatic gratuity anyway. They are shady and they charge people as if its some top of the line restaurant like Benihana. My experience was horrible. The food wasnt great. My favorite place is Tokyo Express in Conyers, GA. The same meal there would have cost me $27 and I wouldve had the choice on what I thought the waiters tip should be. Not to mention it tastes way better! People save your money and dont go here. I knew it was strange when I pulled in only to find 5 or 6 cars in the lot 3 hours before close. The word is getting out on these people.

We have been going to Kampai since it was on Roswell Rd in the 90s. I have to say I was there recently with my family and was disappointed. We sat on the restaurant side and it went well until we ordered the sushi. We ordered the sushi individually however when we received it the sushi chef decides to place all our sushi on two plates instead of giving us our sushi orders on separate plates to reflect each order. It was a bit confusing despite the server explanation of which sushi it still was confusing. When we expressed our dissatisfaction with how our sushi was served there was no manager there to compensate for the inconvenience and was told we would get compensated next time. But we decided not to go back because i would think you would try to accommodate long time patrons for an inconvenience thats good business and integrity.

First time here on a slow day. The person in the front seated us and no one came to get our drinks. After 10 minutes the same guy that seated us came to take our drinks and order. The food was good price is ridiculous high and were missing minor things on the table like napkins, pink sauce ect. and heaving to ask the waiter to bring them all the time. Once finished our table was full of plates and the waiter didnt pick up a plate. He brought the check and still didnt pic up any plates. I paid and he brought the slip to sign and quickly after came to pick up the slip where I put the tip and still didnt pick up any plates. Two people the bill was $59 I tipped him $3 and when we walked out the waiter asked me if the service wasnt good. I told him just look at how many plate are on the table. Ill never return to this place again!!

Went to the restaurant and enjoyed the meal. When leaving the restaurant the waiter "runs" to me asking "was there something wrong with the meal ... You didnt pay me". Puzzled I called by husband back into the restaurant to see what was wrong cause he had paid her. She called us back to ask for her "tip". Not that we didnt want to give her a tip my husband and a new friend met at the restaurant were having a good conversation and when she gave the change from the bill he forgot to put the tip down... For her to chase me out the store to ask us that was pitiful. Not only that but when i called back to ask to speak to the manager she got on the phone and pretended to be the manager....

The food was OK. The hibachi chef was terrible in presentation along with a man at our table ordered shrimp and chicken. Most meals come with two pieces of shrimp so he had extra on the grille because of the order. He gave out the shrimp to all guests and realized that it belonged to this gentleman. He actually took shrimp off of others plates and gave it to this man. When asked about it the chef said he got everything he paid for. I ordered tempura that never came and when I asked about it at the end of the meal the waiter acknowledge that I never got it and didnt even have the manners to apologize for the error. Just plain rude

Highly disappointed and dissatisfied. Hibachi chef combined filet mignon and sirloin on the grill. Filet is significantly more expensive than sirloin. The occasion was a birthday gathering so did not want to make a fuss. What was more shameful was response of management. Called manager on Monday and she stated there was nothing they could do. Kampai not interested in providing customer service or quality food. Will never go again!!!

Service was terrible, waited 20 minutes and they didnt come get our drink order until they were taking our food order. I had to remind the waitress several times things we asked for like sauce or chopsticks for my kid. All of the food was overcooked, chicken was dry and rubbery. My wife ordered medium steak and it was welldone almost overdone. Horrible experience overall, we will not be going back ever and will warn others.

Went today for lunch around 1:45pm( lunch ends at 3pm) and there was a sign on the door that read "No Table Hibachi---Only Kitchen Hibachi" What the heck!!!! I dont want my food cooked in a kitchen otherwise I would have gone to Chinese as the food would have been cooked in a Wok. I turned around and got back in my car and headed to Shogun! Kampai lost a customer for life that day!

Sat for 20 minutes waiting for someone to take my drink order (at least). The gentle comes back around and takes the order of a couple seated 10 minutes after me. I had to grab his attention to let him know I had not been waited on. He doesnt even stop, just keeps walking, saying there was something else he needed to do. I got up and walked out. Worst service ever!

Long wait (1 hr 45 min w/o eating), slow service (20 min wait for drinks and still w/o food), food prep questionable (brought out food on cart w/o being covered and meat at bottom shelf swiped a persons coat on chair - gross), staff incompetence (food brought out - no utensils to eat - we had to wait for them to be washed - another 10 minutes).
