I was excited to try a new Asian restaurant, especially after hearing a lot about this one. Ive been to nearly every local Asian dive, with varying levels of authenticity and price. I love Americanized Asian food, I admit, but Ive enjoyed more authentic restaurants as well; and while this place is indeed authentic, I think it can be a weakness as well as a strength. The menu here is very small, and very a la carte. Theres no simple combo meal for a convenient variety. I sampled a couple chicken dishes. The sauces were unusual but tasty, but the chicken itself is chopped so tiny it creates a very strange experience. It felt challenging to get a satisfying bite, and the meat seemed dark, and made you wonder if the dice was compensation for the fattiness. The texture was very mushy and homogenous. Good flavor, but flat in virtually every other plane. Seafood may be better here than the very odd chicken. The soup and egg roll were good but uninspiring. Portions werent terribly generous either; albeit I didnt really want to finish my dish anyway. The rice had good flavor. Service is fine and the decor is cute, but the strange styling of the food just didnt do it for any of my party of three. I welcome authentic cooking, but I think some of those decisions are not strong ones here. I really want to return to try more dishes; its not every day you find a Chinese restaurant with completely unique sauces and flavors; but the risk of another off putting dish keeps me from making the drive.

Surprising to find a Chinese restaurant in Genesee County that actually serves authentic Chinese food. The spicy taste is common to foods of mainland China today. Also like restaurants in China, dinner at Lotus Room is a la carte, eg no meal deals where you get the egg roll, soup, veggie, and meat all together. Therefore, its a bit more expensive than what you might pay elsewhere. I think they added the fried rice to the menu to help American taste buds. The white sticky rice tastes authentic. Also you will not find fortune cookies in China but they give them here. The tea doesnt have tea leaves floating in it, another way they Americanize the food. But if you want to prepare for a trip to China or entertain a Chinese visitor with food that they might actually appreciate rather than laugh at, this is the place to go. The restaurant is clean, the food is good. The menu is a little limited and expensive in contrast to Americanized Chinese restaurants so be prepared for that.

Just tried this restaurant for the first time and it was GROSS!! We spent almost $50.00 on takeout and when we got it, it didnt come with enough white rice, so when I went to purchase more on the same card, the ignorant girl said I have to spend $5. more or she couldnt take it. She was rude and the food was beyond horrible!! The fried rice was in a cream sauce??? Almond chicken had peanuts and was unlike any I had every had! This restaurant needs to close its doors! Most of our food went uneaten and the little we could eat made a few of us sick!

Ive been to lotus room many times, and its always good. The service is always excellent, the servers are friendly and do a great job of getting you in and out of the restaurant quickly. The food is fantastic, the ingredients are always super fresh tasting and MSG free. The chef is also very good about special orders and will make things a different way if hes able. When i saw that this restaurant had a 3.5 star rating I was shocked, it is most definitely better than any of the Chinese food restaurants around it, and should be rated much much higher.

This is a family owned restaurant and the people here are nice and personable. The food was delicious and not too salty. I ate the drunken noodle with a mix of garlic flavored meat/seafood array (I dont know the name), and both dishes were delicious! Their tea was also delicious and perfect in a cold day. Next time Ill try their egg rolls because while I was there, I saw 2 customers order just egg rolls for take out. Must mean something

Pour it out of a bucket into a Styrofoam container and thats the rice. The Wonton was made from flavored rubber. Egg drop soup wasnt horrible but whats the point. Then to top it off they charge $7.00 for a small portion lunch!!!??? I could have went to Bangkok Peppers and had a wonderful lunch with a huge portion for less money.

When our family has a craving for Italian food, we had directly to Italia Gardens, from the moment you walk into the restaurant you are greeted not only by friendly staff but by the aroma of a wood burning pizza stove and fresh bread directly from the oven... the pizza has an "old-school" taste and the unique flavor.

We tried Redwood as a recommendation from the hotel. The meal was very good with large portions but was on the high side for price for steak dinners. Our service was average as our waitress had a table with friends at the restaurant that she spent a lot of time at speaking with them. The beer selection was good.

We visit this restaurant regularly. The daily specials are very reasonably priced and the portions are huge. The family-style salad is very good and we usually request that the dressing be served on the side.

Food doesnt feel fried and looks like they try to do an upscale version of each dish but at a take-out price. The only thing I dont like here is the hot-and-sour soup. Must get: crab rangoons

Not your usual deep-fried, buffet chinese restaurant. The lettuce wraps and hot & sour soup (a little spicy) are great! The service was professional and prompt. Try it--youll like it!

Less quantity more quality. The rice portion is small but the food is made with great sauces. I prefer good food instead of a 3 pounds of fried chicken.
