I stopped here on a rainy day when my spirits were sorta low. I normally dont write reviews, but I fell compelled after my experience with this place. You know how some things can bring back memories such as a smell or picture you see. This place serves food straight out of her kitchen; grandmas kitchen. You can tell that nothing comes from a tin can and that the ingredients are locally grown. I got the chicken and dumplings. Not the frozen, reconstituted stuff that you get at places like Cracker Barrel. The needing of the dough used to make the dumplings was by old, wise, practiced hands; grandmas hands, not a machine. Each bite was prepared with southern culinary traditions, the kind of love and art that is passed down from mother to daughter, not printed on a corporate recipe card. This place lifted me up and made the sun shine on that rainy day. I loved my food, the staff who sat down with me at the table and asked "how your supper" and the "your family here" atmosphere.

Food is always good. The problem lately has been service. Last week I waited 45 minutes for a take out order. Today the wait was 25 minutes. If the place had been crowded. It might be different, but it was not crowded either time. The other problem is they are constantly running out of items on the menu, tonight there were no chicken fingers and we got the last two chopped steak-and we were there about 5:30. If you go, be prepared to wait. Very disappointing.
