SUMMARY: Its a straightforward, no-frills-no-fuss biscuit shop that sells biscuits, eggs, sausage, bacon, and coffee with a Southern homemade feel at a price that youd be happy to pay every morning for. [Important Note: No card readers, CASH ONLY.] I originally gave them 4-stars, but their extra hospitality had earned them an extra star. THE PRICES: are unbeatable as they havent seemed to have changed since the shops opening roughly 30 years ago. (The original owner-and-cook still works lovingly at the stove in the back.) The reasons the prices stay so low are: 1) They dont want to fuss with changing them, 2) They dont want to hear the customers fuss about prices, and 3) They simply dont fuss with fancy/expensive card readers. So be sure to BRING CASH. THE MENU: is taped to the wall and is almost entirely à la carte; just list off what breakfast foods that youre in the mood for and youll get a low price that you wont complain about. (The "combo meals" that they DO have are simply titled as the list of food thats in them. So youre listing your food either way.) THE FOOD: is "just the way mom makes it." With the exception of the sausage patties, those turn out even BETTER than moms. They hand-press the fresh/never-frozen (straight-from-the-grocery-cooler-that-morning) sausage meat into patties the size of a thick burger; none of those "flash frozen, silver dollar sized, machine-punched" patties there. It is not "gourmet" food, but thats never what theyre aiming for: its "homemade" food, which in many occasions turns out just what the soul needed. THE SERVICE: is warm and casual. You can expect your food in 5 minutes from placing your order, 10 minutes if its busy. If you forget to bring cash (like I did) theyll tell you to just pay for it the next time you come in. (They earned an extra star from me for their hospitality.) THE SHOP: is a small humble thing attached to the side of a neighborhood gas station across the street from an abandoned strip mall tucked in an aged, unassuming part of town. The walls are lovingly adorned with crayon-scribbled coloring pages, tin signs randomly collected over the years, and framed clip-art circa Microsoft Word 97. The inside primarily features the take-out counter, but they have arranged a hodgepodge of mismatched tables and chairs across the front for those who insist on dining in. Its not a place for a first date (or the first dozen of dates actually), but it works well for those future days where you both want to stay in your pajamas and play Bananagrams over coffee and biscuits near a shop window.

Not as good as used to be. But, with Stans Biscuit Shop, recently being sold. Biscuit Shoppe has RE-taken the lead over Stans.
