I ordered the pineapple chicken, which I have had before that was good in the past, but this time it was not. Didnt taste any pineapple in it & it was bland. Also I was running late & my 2 friends were already there & were refused seating until I arrived. If it had been busy & there were few seats I would have understood, but it was NOT. If I had known this policy, then I would have told my friends to go a head & order for me. Whats funny is that my spouse ended up dropping in on us, so we had an extra person. I do know in the past that we were there for Valentines & some friends showed up that only wanted dessert & coffee & wanted a seat by themselves & were refused. Yes it was a busy time, but if there was an opening I think they would have waited, but they were basically told that they couldnt take up a table for just dessert & coffee. The husband was a high government official in Fayetteville. They were insulted & left & made it clear that they would never return.

This place is usually awesome, but this morning my wife and I stopped there and the lady that was working the pastry counter was very rude. When I asked her the prices of certain items, it seemed as though she got upset for having to tell me. Her attitude was that of, " if you have to ask then you should not shop here. First of all the prices are not posted next to the items and secondly, I dont care how much money I have, I still want to know the prices of things before I spend my money!!!!! Because it is money that we work very hard for. She also left us at the counter to attend to someone sitting outside without so much of a, I will be right back. I am a Black man and my wife is a White woman. She is from Germany and thats the reason we love this place. I would hate to think that her attitude towards us was solely based on the fact that we are a mixed couple. But anyways, the food here is fantastic but this morning, that lady attitude was despicable.

Obviously they dont like people to come in and dine alone. I had some time to kill before going to an appointment so I thought I would have a nice sit-down lunch at the City Cafe. I walked in and told the hostess I would be dining alone and asked if there was anything available on the patio. She looked at me with a snear and said "no" like how stupid it was of me to ask. She then told me it would be a 10 to 15 minute wait for inside and did I want to wait that long. When I said I would she looked at me and said "well, Ill keep you in mind". What was that supposed to mean? I promptly turned around and left and took my business elsewhere. This was very disappointing because 3 years ago we had my neices bridal shower there and it was just lovely. Get rid of the snotty hostess!

Me and my bf enjoyed our meal this is a nice establishment, it is nice on the inside and outside eating area. I chose to eat outside since it was nice weather. We received rolls that were hard as a rock, very unsuspecting since they have a bakery. I had the Jamaican grilled chicken with zucchini and mashed potatoes and he had the grilled amber jack and mashed potatoes. I thought that mash potatoes came with my meal but when it came, it had rice. My waitress was quick to fix the issue, she brought me mashed potatoes. I saw the desserts inside, I thought that there would be more choices, I didnt end up getting any.

THIS STAR REVIEW IS BASED ONLY ON DESSERT!! The red velvet icing was overly sweet. I could barely taste the cake. The other white chocolate, dark chocolate, and German chocolate cakes werent as good either. There was way too much coconut in the german cake, and they were overall very dry, grainy, and sweet. Its pretty cheap--$3.50 a slice--but it wasnt as good as I thought. The place is beautiful. The outside has a romantic air about it, but its next to the road so there are passing cars that can get annoying. But the waitresses are very sweet and nice. Definitely give them a tip.

Great place for coffee, sweets and tasty cuisine. This place is very clean, presentable in both decor and food presentation. Service was polite and professional. The vibe here is pretty active with alot of elderly retirees reminiscing about work as well as life, definitely a fascinating place with unique groups that come here. My experience was postive all around only thing I did have problem was the time I waited for my meal was a little prolonged but still tasty so I say it was worth the wait. Highly recommended if you havent been yet.

Ordered my usual three dozen large, undecorated gingerbread men, and they were a total disappointment. The edges were so overcooked that I couldnt even bite into into them. They will still be fun to decorate, but unfortunately the actual cookie is inedible. I look forward to these cookies every year, and I live an hour and a half away, so I guess I will have to find a yummy bakery in my new hometown. Cmon, City Cafe, youve been doing this long enough to know you need to set a timer when you bake!

Hands down one of the best places in Fayetteville. Had the chicken schnitzel and it was absolutely delicious. Chicken was so tender I cut it with a butter knife, mashed potatoes are delicious as well as the vegetables. Our server was David and he was a pleasure. Made sure we were taken care of and made us feel welcomed. Best service ever! Only suggestion I have is putting less potatoes and more veggies on the plate.

Went walking downtown to city cafe, the staff was very welcoming. They treated my family and I very well. We went for breakfast but had no idea they dont do breakfast. We ate from the bakery and they brought out everything for us on the varanda. Had dinner here 2yrs ago and the service was just the same ,a warm welcome. I wish they do b~fast

I have been here twice and both times it was excellent. The food is fantastic and the service was perfect. We hardly eat out anymore because the restaurant choices on the southside or so poor. Its either chain restaurants or sub-par local joints. City Cafe is the exception! The baked goodies are to die for as well!

On March 4th, 2016 I attended this cafe. The hostess/greeter never even spoke to me. I was just standing there waiting. I know she saw me and she should have spoken. She was wearing regular everyday clothes so I had no idea that she even worked there. I was very disappointed so I left.
