Went here for my wifes birthday dinner. She wanted an authentic German meal and wanted all of us to try various entrees that she were her favorites. Every single entree was a disappointment! I had the stroganoff and I was thinking the whole time, this cant be stroganoff. It was horrible and way too salty, nothing like I thought how it would be, I keep telling my wife, maybe you got my entree by mistake but no. My son got the Curry Wurst and he said it was too salty. My wife got a meal that was supposed to be breaded and it wasnt. Our waitress wasnt pleasant, not rude but didnt try to help make my wifes birthday a happy experience. Oh and the Black Forest Cake was a joke. The Rouladan was so small, nothing like what I googled. The pictures of the food are not accurate to what is being served now a days, I read that there was new ownership a year ago and maybe that might be the difference. I cant believe anyone writing a review and liking the food from here or thinking this is authentic. Next time we will either drive to Helen or go to Kurts Euro Bistro which may cost more but at least it will be authentic.

Id been wanting to visit since 2001 when I moved up this way. I finally had a chance and took it. What a great little place! We decided on the deck out back (the biergarten) which needs a little work but was an excellent choice. Our waiter, Will, was excellent and entertaining. I had two strikes on choosing beer selections (they were out of them), but the recommendation of an unlisted one made up for it. Not sure of the name right now, but it was the best hefeweizen Ive ever had! The pretzel we had ordered as an appetizer came out late, but was comped on the bill later. The food (the Sampler Plate) was overall great! The German potato salad was different than I was used to, but very good. I also prefer the Bavarian-style sauerkraut but again, it was good. The schnitzel done well, the Debrezina sausage great, and the sauerbraten awesome! Im really wishing I had gotten here years ago and will definitely be heading by there again soon.

This is the best and most authentic German food Ive enjoyed, outside of Germany! Its a quaint restaurant with a patio out back offering live music. The food is incredibly delicious! We especially like the bratwurst and wienerschnitzel. The dill dressing and pickled cabbage on their house salad is so tasty! If you order the potato cakes appetizer, you may be disappointed in the value (its a tiny serving), but its yummy. Their Black Forrest cake and apple streusel is great. The German Chocolate cakes good, too, but its not very authentic with whipped chocolate frosting added. Tip: If youre making reservations, request to be seated in one of the front rooms. Otherwise you may be in the back room thats used as a hallway for servers.

I would never have thought we could find a place this authentic all the way out in the northern suburbs, but this place is great! It has become one of our new favorites. The owner/chef is a super nice person and takes pride in this little restaurant. The food is all cooked fresh to order and is always delicious. It is so authentic, you would think you were actually eating in Germany! I highly recommend it, especially if you have a small group of friends it can be a fun night out. The beers are amazing and very reasonably priced! Also, service has been excellent everytime we have gone, which is about 6 times now!

2011-Under new management? Food is not from scratch. Not worth the trip-and I live 1/2 mile from the place. 2014-Gave the place a new try. Food again reheated. Offered a "left over special from the day before" They are closed on Mondays. I was there Tuesday. So a 2 day left over steak. No thanks. Bug in a friends salad. Waiter did nothing to correct it. All food looked like someone comes in once a week makes it. Cling wraps it and refrigerates it for reheating with no dates. Its pretty foul. Dont believe me? Their health inspection just got released today. 44-U. I have no idea how they keep getting rave reviews.

Food was great. Prices are normal. However the hostess seemed shocked we didnt have a reservation (party of 3), the waiter didnt bring us silverware( had to request it) as well as we never received bread or plates for our appetizer. Wasnt asked if we wanted to sit outside where the band was playing. We were just seated at the door and forgotten about most of the night. Drinks were never refreshed. Place is small and if you have a small kid, dont bring it.

From a very quick & brief visit to only scout the place out for future visits, I was to say the least Impressed. Pleased to see a true German place be so close to Home here in Atlanta when Germany seems far away. I will definitely be back to enjoy a great dinner from The Austrian chef & bring good company as well. Wish we didnt have food waiting at home when we came in or otherwise we would have had the chance to enjoy. Thank you.

We spent a month in Germany and I can say that this place is the real deal. It is completely authentic. The food is fantastic and the people are wonderful. They make you feel like family. You can also get real German beer in a 2 L boot! Dont be fooled by the building. We absolutely love this place and cant say enough good things about it. Its a new family favorite.

My wife and I ate here in March 2010 because we were craving some German food after our recent trip to Germany. The food and atmosphere was exactly like restaurants/biergardens we visited in Germany. Also, we ordered beers, and they were served in the traditional boot seen in the movie Beerfest. They had them up to 2L in size! All in all, Gasthaus is amazing.

My wife is from Germany, and shes been in the states for about 9 months. This was our first time having German food since getting married, and it was so special to my wife. She loved it! It was absolutely delicious. Honestly, the schnitzel was as good as any schnitzel Ive had throughout Frankfurt, Köln, or Willingen. I highly recommend this place

Good beer!! Schnitzel was good, service was great. A little pricey but large portions. Would have preferred authentic German music instead of the modern folk music on the patio. That was odd. Would probably be a great place to go hang out w/ friends for a few beers & pretzels on the patio. Btw...they have Das Beer Boot!! Always a plus!

My experience was tainted by feeling ill almost immediately after eating the Stroganoff. It arrived cool, but edible. The food was very flavorful, but overpriced for the amount and for what it was. Worst, the service lagged, even as the crowd died down. Id give it another chance, but only go if you have the time for European dining.

LE CAFE is not German! A Polish flag in the Dinning area! I dont know where the food is from or what the cook thinks he is doing in that kitchen, but its not German cooking! I live here 9 years now, I was so happy when I heard of this place. And I cant even tell you how disappointed I was when I left!
