Beer. Beer is one of the founding blocks of our civilization. It is a substance with which we, as a species, have found nutrition, hydration and socialization at a level provided equivalently by no other resource. With an inherent connection to both the people and land, more than a church, government or graveyard, a brewery gives a community a center, purpose and communicative hub that helps define a locality. The word "public," in fact, comes from shortening the phrase "public house" where Nordic clans would govern as well as imbibe. About three years back, Wrecking bar saw this center was missing in our wonderful Little 5 Points, so they built it in an old house that used to sell antiques. ...And it was good. With a preface I only had the booze not the food, this will quickly be becoming one of my favorite regular spots in the area. There is an impressive selection of a dozen or more house drafts available at a time which is a phenomenal achievement for a pub their size. They manage this by constant small batch experimentation, utilizing new casks, ingredients and means of collaboration to constantly be providing their customers with something innovative and delicious. on this visit alone they had a cask aged coffee porter, an ale flavored with juniper berries and a stout ripened with tomato! And with a six sample beer flight at just $9, its a great opportunity to expand your knowledge while talking directly with those involved. Which brings me to the staff. Over the course of my recent visit during a very busy evening, I was helped in sequence by 4 different servers, each sincerely concerned about the lack of drink at my table and the workload of their fellow employees. This resulted in exceedingly quick order placement, great application of beer expertise and a series of enlightening conversations about the beer and the place itself. The location is within walking distance of the main L5P strip and, as mentioned earlier, was converted from a former antique dealer. Parking is a bit of a headache (to be expected for the area) but theres valet for those who can afford it. The establishment itself is on the warm, well-lit bottom floor that might be just a little small for their ambitions. Out back is the brewery itself for which their are tours every week.

One of my biggest regrets in life was the other night, when I had a grilled cheese with bourbon ham and a side of macaroni & cheese from Wrecking Bar Brewpub, ate half of each, boxed up the rest, and got home only to discover that I left the rest of my food at the restaurant. Im (surprise!) a cheese-fanatic, and this meal was exactly what I needed to sate my almost constant desire for cheese. It was so delicious that I found myself explaining the various cheeses used in each dish on the phone to my brother when I got home. Thats when I realized I couldnt find the box and, panicked, I searched my car, only to realize it was not there either. I called the restaurant, but alas--the other half of my meal had been trashed, some unknowing busboy clearing it away, surely unaware of the boxs priceless value. The only thing to do now is to go back and repeat this meal so that I can be sure it wasnt all some savory, cheesy dream.

Cant recommend this place enough. At times I criticize Atlanta for having too manicured aesthetic to the point that businesses polish away any potential culture leaving all businesses with the friendliness and coziness of a TGI Fridays. That is absolutely not true of Wrecking Bar! Set in the basement of a Victorian mansion, it almost feels as though theyve rented out a historic Southern wine cellar to be used for a masquerade party. This place is dripping with Southern charm and esoterism. Their house brewed beers are fantastic and creative. The menu is thoughtful and equally creative with items like: White Cheddar Fondue Beef Heart Tartare Charred Octopus Whole Hog Sausage Half Roasted Cast Iron Chicken This has to be my new favorite South West Atlanta watering hole

This place is really cool!! Located in the back of a real cool looking building, and it had a very underground-brewery vibe going. The whole inside was decorated in stone and had darker lighting. The cocktails were made ever so precisely/elegantly... they are truly craft cocktails!! The bartenders were hard at work and seemed very good at their job!! (they more than quadruple-tasked at one time). The food seemed a bit overpriced, but it smelled AMAZING!!!!! I only ordered the cheese dip with a pretzel and vegetables, which was pretty good. I just wish I was more hungry for real food since it smelled so good!!!! This place is located slightly out of the area of all of the other bars and places, but it was just a short walk for me.

This place offers easy valet parking, and is just slightly off three beaten and noisy 5 Points. Outside seating available but the bar is cool too. Cocktails are good and unique, not overpriced either. Beer selection is Food especially for those looking for small batch brews, havent tried them all but the few Ive had are decent, nothing to rave about. Food selection is meh, but by far better than any typical bar food you might find in the area. Heavy, greasy, small portions, and over priced---- however three food IS good and worth trying. Service is hit or miss, not a place I think any customer rapport building will happen. Order, eat, get out. But hey its a business.

Take your friends from out of town who like beer - has a very masculine feel but all my girl friends have loved it as well! Though the wait can be long, the beer list is awesome so its fun to hang around and have a drink while you wait. The first time I came here I had the most unusual cheese plate - it included BEER JELLIES. Not my jam but they were an experience! The sides are really quite good and the fries yummy. Not a fan of the pastrami sandwich - it was rich but a little too fatty. Get the roasted chicken if its still on the menu and walk here if you can - parking isnt the best! I will definitely take people back here and would love to come on a cold night.

Brewpub set inside the basement of a vintage home (event space). Exposed stone throughout. Table seating throughout the room, anchored by a decent sized bar in 1 corner ( seating around 1/2 of the bar ). Very cool setting. Nice beer selection from their adjacent brewery. Out of 5 different visits over the last 2 years, I would recommend sitting at the bar for the best service at any time. Table service can be hit or miss as far as time spent on waiting for servers. The food was delicious 4 out of 5 visits; last meal was cool and undercooked, combined with long wait and inattentive server ( we sat at a table )

Have been coming here since Day 1 and have never had anything less than stellar. The corn pups, the pastrami sandwich, the trout entree, and the pork belly are my favorite standards that one will never be disappointed by, but both the food and beer menus are constantly being reinvented with new items alternating in and out. My lunch today consisted of the Vinnie, a shaved Riverview Farms roast pork shoulder sandwich that will take your breath away, washed down with a Pigpen India Brown Ale with hints of coffee and biscuit. If that doesnt sound tasty, Im not sure what youre looking for.
