The Omakase experience at Tomo restaurant is nothing short of amazing. We came here for the very 1st time based on a raving recommendation from a close friend who frequents this restaurant so we decided to give it a shot on my b-day. We didnt know what to expect but seing that there were so many people at this restaurant on a Thursday evening spoke volumes right from the start to me. We were served by (some sheer stroke of luck and fate combined?) Chef Tomo himself which had me giddy all the way from the beginning to end. His skill, technique, passion, and quality really struck a chord with me and I had very high respect for this master chef. During our meal we had a good conversation and I was pleased to learn that the secret to his success was his ability to lead and not follow. I love that. You can see this clearly in his omakase dish which truly is in one word, amazing. The prices are a bit high but deservedly so, and I did not feel like we wasted money as the experience itself of being served by one of Atlantas finest Japanese sushi chefs was truly reminiscent of the saying : the juice was worth the squeeze. The appetizers, sushi, brewskie, martini, and service (our waiter was astounding - ask for Ferry) were all truly top notch. I can confidently rank Tomo among the best restaurants that Ive been to or tried in Atlanta, GA and recommend them highly. A++ and 5 solid yelp stars for me! Domo Arigato Gozaimasu Chef Tomo and have a positive day.

While this restaurant is by no means bad, I feel it is way overpriced. Thats probably because of the location. As for the quality, youd be better going to Oku, Eight Sushi, or the One Sushi+. Or if you dont mind less flashier sushi and prefer a more traditional authentic take, I would say the quality of fish at Tokyo Shokudo, Izakaya Ma, Sushi Mito, and Ege are just as good. Maybe I was there on an off night? The Kobe beef was ok, but Im not so sure if was actual Kobe beef or they just called it that. Having just come back from Tokyo, where I ate my fair share of Kobe beef, this didnt match up. It possible matched up to the lower grades of Kobe, but after eating grade A5 level 12 marbling Kobe beef from a female cattle, I might be ruined to steak for life. There were two items I got that stood out, however. I absolutely loved the Yellow Tail Carpaccio dish and the O-Toro was the best I had since Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, Japan. Overall the restaurant isnt bad, but it has too much competition.

Server approached our table of six with a poor greeting...could not recommend an appetizer for the group or tell us about anything about what the restaurant could offer before walking away with a confused look on her face. After several unsuccessful attempts to fIag down a busboy to get our server, we were still being ignored. Finally, on the second attempt to greet the table, server didnt seem to know anything about their drink selection either...Im wondering did this person get any training? Appetizers and drinks came out 15-20 minutes after we ordered them. Main courses came out cold, late, and were auctioned off...Seriously, your restaurant is in the Ritz and the servers dont know anything about the menu? Maybe some more training for the servers is a good idea...

Tomo is a good restaurant and its got a great big group of people who love it, but its not my favorite Atlanta sushi restaurant. I work nearby so I eat here for lunch quite frequently. In short... lunch entrees are good and come with miso soup (not a fan) and ginger salad. I have eaten dinner here only once and my dinner dining experience was better than my lunch experience but I was not hanging out with an adventurous group so I dont have much in the way of advice for prospective diners about the food. I will say that Tomo has NO problem with their air conditioner and the restaurant can sometimes be quite cold. Be sure to dress for the indoor climate!

I come to Atlanta often, and I always enjoy great sushi. My favorite place in Atlanta was MF, but they closed. Someone told me to come to TOMO, and I was looking forward to good Sushi, but from the time when we talked in the door to when we left the food and service was extremely bad. Some of the plates and soy sauce bowl didnt appear to be clean. The guy who was the waiter, never came and asked how our dinner was. It was very disappointing, and very much over priced. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

The food is pretty good, but as as a value proposition, this is about as bad as it comes. I dont have a problem paying for good food, but when you are charging $25 for appetizer sized portions you expect something closer to a spiritual awakening with each bite. I wasnt getting that. Maybe a good place to go have a pretentious dinner or a business meeting that you can write off as a company expense.

Had a great experience at tomo. Upon arriving we waited about 15 minutes for our waiter to come take our orders, and the manager cliff came out to personally apologize and gave us our meal on the house. The food was great and this resturant obviously takes pride in their customer service. Will be returning

I went there for the first time after hearing from many people. They heat up the food if needed. The price for Avocado roll and Garlic Noodle are $5.99 for each one. They were delicious for the price. I would try dine-in next time or order before I visit so that the food is fresh.

I have never had a waiter be so rude to me. He practically threw my check at me. When my coworkers attending lunch approached the manager to complain, they refused to take responsibility for their unacceptable behavior. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Went for Omakase, and had one of the best meals of my life. Manager Cliff was excellent in setting up the reservation, and was prompt in returning emails. Chef Tomo was an amazing host and described each course wonderfully! Will be back again for sure

We started out w/Tomo when they were in Vinings. Moved away 4 yrs ago...every time we are back in ATL, we are there! Literally.... the BEST sushi in ATL. Ask for Ferry to be your waiter. Ferry always gives suggestions & is very attentive.

In Georgia, you will not find better quality sushi. They fly their fish in direct from Japan - no brokers. California peeps - you pay through the nose here but you will appreciate the superior quality. Cant wait to go back again.

In town for business. What a surprise. Looks fancy but is casual. Had the Sushi and Sashimi. Everything was very good but the spicy tuna roll was outstanding. Definitely recommend this place. Will be back on the next trip.

The first time we pretty much ordered all the signature dishes. The second time we sat at the chefs table. This was quite expensive, but the best meal Ive ever eaten. Period. Also, try the rice beer.

Celebrated my 15th anniversary here with my wife and it was well worth it. The atmosphere is like fine dining and the sushi was off the charts. Highly recommend for special occasions!
