The five stars are only for the bar side of the establishment as I have yet to experience the restaurant. The entire "Bar or Restaurant" idea agrees with my sense of humor and that there are two separate menus with no "crossings of the streams" allowed is a fun idea. Regarding the bar side, it is simply terrific. The menu covers some varied ground and is far from typical pub fare. The Soy and Sesame Quail eggs served on a stick were special as the initially jarring char on the egg made the first shake of my head go side to side, the rest of the experience was nothing but happy nodding. Even selections with typical sounding names like Chicken Wings and Grilled Cheese are served with the most atypical and wonderful flavors. And after all that deliciousness, a perfect cocktail, and a local craft beer, you should expect nothing less than to top it all off with a Salted Brown Butter Rice Krispy Treat that would make Snap, Crackle, and Pop proud as hell.

I live in East Atlanta and am so happy to see this place here. On both visits thus far, the food at both the "small plates" bar and the "full plates" dining room was impeccable. Delicious, well-made drinks, phenomenal service, and a swanky, contemporary atmosphere with lots of wood and rustic accents. Cant wait to go back, and recommend to others! MY ONLY DISMAY: No signage! Its at a great corner location of Hosea Williams Dr. and 2nd Ave., but there is no signage to let you know the restaurant is there/open. I pass it 4-5 times a week and would have never known its open had a friend not told me about it. Business is obviously growing, maybe from word of mouth and social media, but I strongly recommend investing in illuminated signage to catch even more passer-byers.

This review is just for the bar side of the restaurant. They have a great patio area in the back thats walled off and private. The cocktails were pretty good, but could use a little inspiration. I get the desire to present "classic" cocktails, but i can make a simple Paloma at home... Our server, notably, was aloof to the point of seeming angry and rude. That was my most serious knock against the place. No flair needed, but come on, cheer up, youre serving me $12 drinks, not vice versa. However, the other staff at the bar seemed a lot friendlier

Our son took us here the first night we were in Atlanta visiting him and it was a fantastic way to kick off our visit! The menu is limited due to the chef only cooking what is available and fresh! Works for me! We had one of each of the 4 appetizers and did the same with the entrees, but just had 2 desserts. Everything we ate just sang with flavor and was perfectly cooked! It was a delightful experience and we will insist we go back when ever we are visiting our son!

Cool, chill, cozy space with nice patio. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Inventive bar menu more interesting than dinner menu. Fun foodie venture. The tomato garlic bread with anchovy was super good and a lot more flavorful than it sounds. Soy and sesame quail eggs were unique though not as good as the bread. The baby marbled potato confit with pickled vegetable aioli and chili oil were good. Nice beer and wine selection.

really cute place with super friendly staff. excellent food and nice bar. menu is not huge though, about 5 items plus I think there were different things at the bar. terrific pickled shrimp appetizer and I had steak kabobs with "African " seasoning which was, spicy and kind of Ethiopian. served with a crispy flatbread which was better than spongy Ethiopian bread to me. great neighborhood place to try.

In a world where the classic cocktail has been tweaked so much its lost its roots, Poor Hendrix reminds us why a drink was classic in the first place. Weve been several times since Poor Hendrix has opened and both the rotating entree menu and the small bits bar menu are thoughtful and delicious! Intimate atmosphere, smart courteous staff, excellent addition to Kirkwood and Atlanta!

We have been to Poor Hendrix a handful of times and its been consistently excellent each time. Service is fast and friendly, food offerings are unique and delicious at reasonable prices. The space is intimate and interestingly set up as half restaurant and half bar. This is our new goto place and one weve recommended to many friends.

This place has become a go-to dinner spot. Always fabulous, whether we choose the more casual small, shared plates in the bar section, or a three-course meal in the restaurant.

An amazing addition in Atlanta: An affordable, low-key neighborhood restaurant that serves up non-pretentious delicious dishes. The chefs desserts are also out of this world.

Plates are small, limited menu inside, cocktails were ok but the staff was awesome and super friendly. Its kind of like the other eclectic eatery/pubs in east atlanta.

The food is amazing. We had the beet salad, sesame wings and the hanger steak - all prepared to perfection. The beer selection is great and the prices are reasonable.
