The strip shopping center that Community Barbecue is located in on Clarimont Road is one that is constantly changing in food venues and in recent years not for the better, therefore we had hoped that Community would become a stabilizing tenant and one that we could enjoy repeatedly. Sadly, this is not the case. The place is small and the seating is rather uncomfortable and a bit cramped. Also, I dont like to have to stand in line and place my order unless I am eating fast food and paying fast food prices. Now to the food, particularly the barbecue, in two words---stringy and dry. Both the ribs and the pulled pork came dry without being basted or cooked in any-type of sauce and in my opinion this is what gives good barbecue its flavor. Two types of barbecue sauce, a tomato and vinegar based are on every table, but to me this is like adding sugar to cold tea, it just "doesnt take." The pulled pork sandwich was more like chunk-ed pork served on Texas toast, so that the flavor of the meat was lost even when you doctored it up yourself. So far as the ribs go when a non-barbecue restaurant like Longhorns or Houstons serves better ribs, you know this place is in trouble. The sides were OK, perfectly sufficient and there is a wide choice, but you dont go to a barbecue place for the sides. Also, what is this new trend of serving food in a basket with wax paper instead of on a plate? Once again a fast food simplicity when you are not paying fast food prices. Head outside the Perimeter to Dreamland Barbecue; well worth the drive.

Let me start by confessing that I am somewhat of a BBQ snob. I myself make great BBQ so I dont hand out compliments lightly. I can tell you that Community gets it right. A lot of places do a decent job of pulled pork but to separate the men from the boys youll want to look for brisket. Its a tough cut of meat to get right. THEY GET IT RIGHT. Another thing I judge a Cue joint on is their sides. I have eaten at places that do a nice job on the meat but then serve you Sams Club Potato salad bought in bulk and Bushs Baked beans, frozen french fries. Community does NOT do this, no half-assery here. The baked beans have chunks of brisket in them and are nice and sweet with a peppery kick. Fries are hand cut. My only complaint, and its minor really, is the Brunswick stew. While good, it doesnt hold up to the rest of the sides in my opinion. Try the Mac&Cheese, very good as well. If you want to hear more from the horses mouth, call and ask me. I am the owner of The Plumbing Detectives and talking BBQ is fine by me :) Now, quit reading and go getcha some fantastic BBQ!

I love the mac and cheese and the bbq is pretty good. But the customer service is infuriating!! Ive tried multiple times to call in ordets in advance. Im never able to reach then on the phone. One time I kept hitting redial and still never reached anyone. So I end up going in to order my food (not convenient if you are ordering for a group or are in a hurry). Finally I asked them about why I can never get through to anyone on the phone and I was told they dont answer the phone when they get busy (so you keep getting a busy signal). What?! I might understand if it was an isolated occurence due to some crazy unforeseen BBQ fluke but its now happened to me three times. You know what some restaurants do when they get busy routinely to the point it affects providing good service to their customers? They hire more staff to accommodate those busy times. I was told they were thinking abt adding another store. Dont bother. You cant even properly handle the customers you already have.

BBQ might be my favorite cuisine. Im new to the Decatur area but Im no stranger to great BBQ and this is the best BBQ Ive had around here or anywhere. Everything Ive had has been magnificent. I recommend the half rack of ribs (St.Louis style. insanely delicious, tender, fall-off-the bone, melt-in-your-mouth with lots of meat, and end pieces too), side of beans (with lots of rib meat in there!) and a side of slaw (finely chopped cabbage, really good). It comes with two pieces of toasted white bread (which is what you want). Its $18 even, taxes included in the price, its so easy. I recommend calling ahead and placing an order since there is often a long line of new/returning customers! Its a nice feeling legally line-skipping everyone, paying and leaving with your finished order in 1 minute! Also the staff is very warm and friendly, This place is my go-to BBQ restaurant. Go here.

Glorious discovery…… I am extremely disappointed that I now have to renounce my barbecue knighthood I once held in such high esteem. Discovering Community barbecue last night just a short distance away from my home has been a religious experience of the highest order. I can officially end my eternal search for the best barbecue in the country. Not only is Community the best barbecue ever in the history of humankind, my non-meat eating 4 year old is now hooked. I cannot concentrate at work today.. the barbecue beans are still dancing through my head. Watch out lunch and dinner crowds, move out of my way when I walk through that door … I am addicted and might go into spasms if I have to wait too long. I’m starting to twitch and shake a little already.. is it lunch time yet.... Excellent !!!! Excellent barbecue ! Period.

I wanted some ribs but I wanted to venture outside of Fat Matts and Community Q BBQ was the chosen one. Located in a small quaint plaza on Clairmont Road in Decatur, parking was not difficult because it was during the week. I can imagine parking being insane if it were really busy. The restaurant itself is not huge inside but it seem to hold all patrons that were there that day and it was pretty packed. I was ordering to go for my husband. They have a small outdoors patio. I I ordered 1/2 rack with a side (mac n cheese). The bag felt very light and everyone do not use the same ribs. Once home, I ate a little bit but I wasnt a fan of the ribs. They were not nasty...just not to my liking. My husband enjoyed them. I would try them again for the beef brisket.

BEST NEW RESTAURANT IN DECATUR IN FIFTEEN YEARS. Consistent quality, standards, offerings and service. Incredibly fast "fast-food" speed of delivery of highest quality BBQ and farm-style veggies and sides. In the beginning they were still learning the ropes of service, but now its like going over to your best friends place. Ive sampled most of their offerings off-and-on since they opened (as well as just about everything else in the Decatur area since 2000) and Community wins out. Easily gives any other BBQ in Atlanta a run for taste and quality. Expect to see additional sites around town in the future. I never write reviews, but they have earned it - will post this same review to multiple sites. If you like BBQ, you will like Community Q!

Great place- one of the few restaurants in Atlanta where I continue to go back for more. I am pretty picky when it comes to my BBQ but they do it just right. The pulled pork plate is my favorite. The meat is really good- not too much fat. The plate and 2 sides are a large serving and can take what I have left for lunch the next day. The mac & cheese is awesome- super rich and cheesy. I also really like the potato salad. The side sauces are great I love the vinegar based one. The only thing I would say they could improve on are the other side choices - the slaw and stew are just ok. The atmosphere is great inside - kind of old school southern style inside and the outdoor seating is nice. Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful.
